Hey just to clarify anemia does not cause leukemia. However if you have leukemia that causes anemia. If that makes sense. There’s also different reasons why someone can be anemic they can be low in iron, low in vitamin b12, low in folate, they can have sickle cell and aplastic anemia that are just a some. Treatment for anemia can be vitamins prescribed by your pcp or hematologist in a pill form, liquid form or it can be given to you through an infusion. The infusion is the quickest way to get you back to normal. I’ve been anemic since 18 I am now 30 because my body doesn’t absorb pill or liquid vitamins or food. During pregnancy the baby literally sucks you up, so you have to make sure you’re taking the prenatal. I was anemic my entire pregnancy but did iron infusions to prevent complications at labor plus took prenatal. If you’re anemic and feel like you could use more insight from another dr request to be referred to a hematologist who specialize in blood disorders.

maybe that’s just a hispanic misconception, because my mom would always tell me that if i didn’t eat iron (had anemia) i was going to get leukemia 🙃 Just how our parents would tell us not to have lights on in the car lol

I completely agree with everything Louie said about Mexico. I really hate that it gets a bad rap because last year I lived in Mexico for about three months straight and backpacked from Mexico City to the south, and it was beautiful. It was an amazing, memorable experience. The beaches are stunning, and the people are so nice! Also, I'm gay too so I can attest to not feeling very uncomfortable with my sexuality there. 🇲🇽 ❤

I felt the constant nose bleeds! I was ALWAYS bleeding through my nose to the point where I would have to go through the ER! I also got the vanes in my nose burned and it in fact DOES hurt! But I will say that after that I didn’t get bad nose bleeds anymore! One tip for it is putting Vaseline in your nose to keep it from getting dry and making the vanes sensitive to popping (does that make sense?)

When I was 6 me & my friend were playing with troll dolls (I’m old lol) at her house & she wanted an “ice skating ring” she tried to pick up her full length mirror that was propped against her wall & while carrying it over my head-she dropped it-splitting my head wide open 🤢 our family pediatrician actually opened his office & stitched up my scalp that was split down the middle. MY NOSE ALSO BLEEDSS! It’s kinda insane my mom said that my first nose bleed was at abt 2 years old but I also lived in Mexico so maybe it was the air? But as I grew up it would bleed sooo much I would miss a lot of school BCS of it , I also used to wake up w my nose bleeding and I’ve been to the er abt 3 times bcs of them. The first time I went to the er I was going into 5th grade I think and I had a little boogie down so I tried to take it out and my nose bleed but it was really quick and it stoped but after like 10 minutes and it starting bleeding badddd so we went to the er and the cauterized it and I couldn’t walk for 3 days bcs I was really weak after, I got it done again a specialist a year later and it also stopped and it also lasted abt a year or two. The second time I went to the er it was a half day and it bled lowk kinda bad but again it was a half day so we just went home and then my nose bleed on both sides and I was shaking and threw up so I went to the er and I was really slow for abt 4 days that a year ago in February but that summer it was bleeding bad. The third time I think it was last summer and my nose bleed but my parents were gonna go to Lowe’s or something and my mom telling me that I HAD to go bcs my nose bleed but I was fine in the car until it was starting bleeding baddd and it was a much of blood so we pulled into a family dollar and I threw up in there parking lot and got blood everywhere and I had the biggesttt clot so we went to the er bcs I was fatigued and threw up and shaking. went to another specialist (bcs I moved) and I got i cauterized but I got put to sleep and it hasn’t bled since so thank you to my doctor he’s a LIFESAVERRR but also we don’t know why it bleeds we think it’s BCS it’s hot and my veins get dry and just crack but also I can’t hear from my right ear we thinkkk I was born w it but we dk and we also dk if me not being able to hear correlates to my nose bleeds also lovedd todays episode
