Well, the only healer I play is Ana from Overwatch because she's allowed to just shoot people. Sure, my nagging dps teammate won't dissolve into a cloud of red mist if I put a bunch of bullets in their brain but it is still satisfying and it might still shut them up.

The "healers are bottoms" one: I'd say the tanks take control of the fights, the healers set the pace, and the dps are mostly just along for the ride though they do determine the "entire dungeon completion" time.

Tanks take the hits, healers ACTUALLY have control over the whole situation (as the tank drops quick without the healer), and furthermore the tanks have to ask for heals (and not piss off the healer, or they get punished with excess incoming damage). Tanks are bottoms, healers are hardcore doms.

@@Nomadik Try doing a properly designed dungeon without a tank. Your party gets wrecked. Also it's the tank's job to follow the pace the healer sets, so his role isn't just "the bottom". (Although most tanks suck at following the healer's pace) It's only the DPS that are just there to make things die faster. They're the bottoms, following the two "leaders" and hitting stuff they're "told" to hit.

9:25 fun fact: toby fox was originally gonna do something like this for undertale, where if you got to the judgement hall too quickly, sans would be there eating an icecream. He'd say something like "oh. wow. you're here early." Then proceed to play an unskippable minute long icecream eating cutscene where his sprite would just slowly eat it. This was cut obviously cuz toby fox respects speedrunners, probably a good call. Though it would've been funny.

I remember someone posted a video where this was countered with "Tanks are the ones who beg for heals, it's the Healer who controls whether you live or die on the battle field, so they are most assuredly Tops in a combat scenario." and I fully agree. And I believe the conclusion I came to with commenters on said video that Paladins(DnD) are switches in that sense. Yes, you now have more cursed knowledge. You're Welcome.

Found a pretty good comment that argued against that as well. Basically tanks control the fight, supports set the pace, and dps dictate clear times. Without a tank, the party gets overwhelmed, without a support, the party gets pummeled. Dps can only fight who they are told to fight and when they fight them and are basically the bottoms in this scenario. Though in my opinion they are like brats that have to be threatened with death (no protection no healing) before they start behaving.

In games like world of warcraft the tanks set the pace and hav control, but the healers set the tempo. I am a Guardian druid I do dungeons where I'm confident in so I don't fully need a healer, but I still appreciate having one. As a Guardian druid I have a few rules, but my biggest rule I will fight people is protect the healer. They are there to heal the unavoidable damage, and not heal stupid. If my healer has threat that isn't fixated then I have failed as a tank.

Healers and Tanks/anchors/supports in general are Power Bottoming for Gamers. Like the frontliners may think they're the carries but at the end of the day if you don't have a good support you are gonna be taken out. Which is why I play both Frontline and Supports so I can win in every situation

"healing" It depends on the game. City of heroes/city of villians... in many cases it wasn't healing it was the brute/tank didn't need it. An invulnerable brute could solo mobs with 2-3 attacks. so we used healers with kinetics (haste+increased endureance recovery + minor regeneration). And yep, the tank would set the pace there. "I tank on the bounce, watch for the change ups, stay just close enough to buff" "i'll heal" "don't worry about heals just kinetics." Leap into the middle of a mob, hit the ground with an AOE agro attack, aoe, aoe, aoe agro, leap to the next mob, repeate... clear 90% of the map in 5 minutes zip back to the start, "Ok everyone out of the pool!" Reset the map and repeate... fastest way to level lowbies LOL. Tank + 1 buff character... and the remaining 3 players just stay at the door way and gain exp...
