This yoga class is for students with Ankylosing Spondylitis, or "Bechterew's Disease" as its also called. I've had Ankylosing Spondylitis for almost 10 years and I'm also a 500 hour certified yoga teacher. This class is made up of some of my favorite yoga poses for Ankylosing Spondylitis.
This yoga class is less than 30 minutes and will make your body feel more open & juicy! We'll do a nice warm-up, then opening our hips, working into gentle spinal twists, move into some juicy upper back opening, as well as upper back activation. We'll end in a yummy Savasana to really let our nervous system take it all in - did you know that calming our nervous system can help reduce inflammation? Which is key when you're dealing with Ankylosing Spondylitis, so dont skip your Savasana! :) This class is suitable for beginners.

This video has really helped to open up my upper back and shoulders, giving me a lot of relief from costochondritis and thoracic outlet syndrome. Thank you! Could you do an AS video that focuses more on the low back and hips?

That was really good . I have AS for over 20 years now since I was a teen and my lower back starts stiffen up a lot . Specially left hip and my left shoulder is very painful . I will definitely follow you.

Hi, Elina, I have recently found out I have AS too. After three pregnancies and seeing that there is something wrong with my body, especially backbends (my thumbnail is before pregnancies and I am nowhere near what I used to be in terms of shoulder and spine flexibility). Up to now I haven't taken any medication, as currently there are no inflammation markers. But your channel is inspiring.

Hiiii! I’m so glad you’re here! 🩷 I’m sorry you’ve been diagnosed but there is hope 🙏🏻💫 my biggest piece of advice would be to keep moving regularly (whatever type of exercise works best for your body) and notice what foods make you feel your best! 🩷🙏🏻 good luck and please keep me posted!!

Hiii! Awwww that makes me so happy to hear! Thank you for being here! I'd say to do it as often as feels good for you. I try to move my body everyday but I switch things up a lot day by day because my joints get angry if I do too much of the same :)

No not at the moment! I’ve been on humira before but only for a few months - I mainly manage with exercise and nutrition 🙌🏻

@@foodtripnijep I’d recommend trying a few different ones and see what works best for you and also feels like you can enjoy it long term. A few suggestions are vegetarian, Mediterranean, gluten free, vegan, anti inflammatory, etc. Everyone responds differently to different things so try and see what works for you! I personally do well on a diet consisting of lots of veggies, water, healthy fats, lots of seafood, some pasture raised chicken, and some grains. But again, we’re all different so find what works for you! ❤️
