The best things that stopped my panic attacks were, practicing mindfulness (practiced focusing on the little things in the real world, instead of being in my head all the time), started to express my emotions in a healthy way. I used to supress my feelings and pretend I was okay, which often caused me to have full blown panic attacks. I would also recommend going outside and doing some sort of physical activity.

At college I got really into Warhammer with my roommates and a few other people but now we're scattered all around New England and some of them are close to each other so I watch them post pictures of games they play and models they paint but without traveling I have no one to play with so I've just got models sitting in boxes.

Zoloft is an SSRI. They’ve been proven to be a straight up scam. All the “science” it rests on has been disproven and was shown to be merely paid for. It’s a serious psychoactive drug with one purpose: to make a pharmaceutical company rich. Hopefully people can get off it.

Im not sure if Pyrion will ever get to read this, but some advice about the medicine he's on: They're VERY lenient about changing the medicine. If after X amount of time you still feel like crap, ask to change and 9/10 times they will do it. Everyone is affected wildly differently by each one, there's no way of knowing. Reviews won't help you. I'm on Citalopram for example, it's worked wonders. My friend was on it too and said it was the worst experience of her life. Don't hesitate to put your foot down and switch it up!

For us Gen Xers raised on Avalon Hill, Freedom in the Galaxy WAS a medium complexity game. Pyrion mentioned Campaign for North Africa and I think he has mentioned Advanced Squad Leader (ASL) before THOSE were high complexity. VASSAL has a really good PBEM system for games with possible interaction. Player 1 creates a file of their moves and sends it to Player 2. 2 then steps through the file one move at a time. If 2 wants to take an action and interrupt the turn they “break” the file and add their action and send it back to 1. This works well for ASL where defensive fire can interrupt a move.

I suffer from panic disorder, have been on sertraline for about 3 months now after decades of panic attacks, i know calling an ambulence because of all consuming dread well. It has been very helpful, I have had the one, but I felt more in control quicker and generally feel less bad. No noteable side effects, slightly blunted mood mood maybe, and you can get these brain zaps. They're scary and uncomfortable, but harmless and if you stay the course don't happen too much. Hope it works for you, I'd give sertraline a 9/10.

Best of luck with the panic attacks Flax! Glad you sought out help for it. Didn't know that GPs prescribed antidepressants as well, thought you had to see a psychiatrist for that. Good to know

I too have been to the hospital for a panic attack, I was absolutely convinced i was going to die or be transported to another realm(can’t explain that one). No idea where it came from. Terrifying amounts of dread swallowed me whole. The dr didn’t really have much to say after running tests and sent me on my way

I refused medication for my panic attacks and know exactly what Py flax is talking about. I got over my panic attack frenzies that kept me away until i pass out from exhaustion bed time tea indian one and going out to parks etc. It was awful, i still get it now but i can control it and ignore it. I tried setraline 😂 for me it just made me careless. But one thing you should know about it.. it will almost stop from reaching an orgasm 😂😂😂😂😂

Hey p flax check you vitamin D levels with your GP. Also try doing some light excercises everyday that should fix your panic attacks I think takings meds it’s just masking the problem and probs has other side effects
