There are real animals in the Pokemon world, they just don't show up often to preserve the immersion- they appear in the anime and manga, and also get mentioned all the time in the Pokedex. But when they do show real animals, people complain because "There aren't real animals in the Pokemon world!!"

Honestly I feel he could actually enjoy it as a strategy player. There's a surprising amount of depth that is glossed over because of the typical hand-holding and simplification playing through normally, a Nuzlocke or other challenge run really helps the games shine more imo

I believe they meant Friendlocke -- IIRC, that's the variant where you do a Nuzlocke, but each of your Pokémon is controlled by one of your friends. So like, you'd name a Rattata you catch Lewis, then Lewis would be the one to decide which moves the Rattata would use and such.

The reason why some jumps couldn't be made in the stunt race is because catch up was on. Ben couldn't do the jump in the digger because of catchup reducing his top speed. never have catchup on during stunt races

The early Pokémon games included references to a number of real world animals (Pokédex entries refer to Indian elephants for example) and the early anime also included what appeared to be real world animals in the world. Over time, these have slowly disappeared from later releases, such that the games now only refer to Pokémon or generic categories of animal (bugs for example) that could be used to refer to a group of Pokémon, while the anime now seems to exclusively use Pokémon in place of any generic animals. PS: Why did nobody bring up Slowpoke tails in the conversation about eating Pokémon?

Can’t eat a magikarp, it’s nothing but armored scales and bone. They did try to eat one when the St Anne sank with them aboard. The kids were stuck on a raft and Team Rocket thought it would be a good idea to try to eat the one James purchased on the ship… yeah it transformed… then dragon rage happened… it was badass.

In the Pokemon anime, we have seen the occasional aquarium full of real fish. So the question becomes are those fish actually imported Pokemon from an unknown region, or are real fish and wildlife simply ignored when writing the story? Still, people do eat Pokemon and drink Miltank milk. We can never forget that Slowpoke tails are considered a delicacy!

I love how on the surface pokemon is a kids game where they collect cool monsters and battle them but once you look deeper it just gets so dark. One of the ones that I always remember for dark pokemon stuff is that driftloom lure children to hold onto them and then just fly away with them

Fun fact. As stated in the Pokedex (the in-universe encyclopedia of Pokemon), there are regular animals in the Pokemon world. At the very least, elephants are mentioned in the entries for Gastly and Raichu.

I am SO proud of them for using the scramjet boost. And the pokemon chat was great. What I was hoping would come up was the theory that humans are pokemon. Two points of evidence among others: ghost types are known to be spirits of dead humans and the bipedal egg group mostly contains fighting, and psychic types, skill categories humans mostly possess in the game, such as psychic trainers levitating poke-balls.

The answer to the question of 'do humans eat pokemon' is yes and no. The pokemon world has some animals from our world too. There are various scenes that show real world animals like fish and lobsters, but there are also scenes showing cooked magikarp and farfetched soup.

Oh boy. That Pokemon conversation was a bit raw. There are actually regular animals and bugs etc. in the world, they just don't bother showing them because they're already laden with displaying about 600+ different Pokemon at any one time. That's already a ton of work. For example, you can see the fish when you go into underwater zones, but the only thing people engage with are the Pokemon.
