I am muslim so as my husband but my in laws are French Christians so when they visit us in North America for the holidays I take it upon myself to cook a Christmas dinner for them with an American flair of course! the donuts included!! You have no idea the amount of joy they express every time they spend the holidays with us. Food can be really magical in the way it brings us together!! Happy Hanukkah again and God bless

I loveed seeing the Dulce de Leche donut with the Stroopwafel (That is what that syrop filled wafer is called in The Netherlands a typical Dutch treat (you pronouncee it StrooooopWaaahfel, the O and A are pronounced as in the exclamation Oh NO, and the A as in Ooh Ahh) it is eaten at any time of the year, the Dutch donuts (Oliebollen/oilballs literally translated) are only eaten at the changing of the year, so Old years eve and New Years day. I haven't been able to keep up with the Dutch traditions as it pertains to St Nicholas as opposed to Christmas, but Oliebollen are an absolute MUST!! It just will not be a good new year without!
