Yong Heng 4500psi compressor - initial thoughts

Being new to pellet guns, I didn't want to over invest in my set-up. I weighed out pros/cons of even how much 22lr ammo could be purchased for the cost of getting into my first pellet rifle. In the end I decided to go for it and I'm very happy I did. This is my initial review of my compressor set-up. A friend has one of these and with reviews here on KZbin like from Aaron Cantrell ( / @aaroncantrell8819 ) for the compressor and PootInHammer for the his review on the compressor and the water separator ( • Yong Heng compressor 2... ) I was convinced that'd be a good way to go.

I got mine though Amazon, with a 4 yr warranty added for $44, hope I never need it. I also researched a lot, some things people like Aaron said for longevity were use royal purple oil, and MOST importantly....it is a 300 bar/4350psi unit... so stop at that point! Unfortunately my RTI uses 300 bar so immediately after filling off of my dive tank I stop getting complete fills. Make sure you are not using hard water, distilled is probably best, the ice you use also. I don't let mine get above 60C. Temp was also important to guys with experience. I went up a size and hopefully quality with a new water pump. I changed my oil immediately after the first 45-minute use, hoping to get out any filings or junk that were in there. Like most people a Marauder was my first airgun also, happy air gunning!

I too added that water separator and 3 part filter. Did you figure out what the tap holes on top are for? I know it comes with two screws that fit them, but they appear to be blind holes.

For pulling the filter element out of the second stage I think

I have one of these on the way, new to pcp as well. I did find a hand pump for 70$ delivered, looks to be same as some others that are pricier..works ok to fill the pistol. I wouldn't want to pump up a rifle though.

yea hand pumping a rifle is a nightmare

@@gboutdoors5198 I did it a few times, getting beyond 3000 psi was tough. The Yong Heng has been a good compressor for the money.

Now exactly where did you get that air/oil separator? I have been looking for the ones that have the dump valves and without luck.

Yes that's a good plan. The place I have it set up is messy so I might reset elsewhere. Bottom line is it seems to be working fine.
