I got some good use of mine and it works brilliantly A few good pointers is to use distilled water with regular coolant fluid for aluminum motors Else the aluminum compressor head will be pitted pretty quickly inside, dissolve the aluminum Also let the compressor run freely for at least two whole minutes before starting to pressurize as the piston and cylinder actually needs to get up to working temperature to work best as possible and wear down as little as possible, just think of it like a regular aluminum combustion engine, it is just the same. The water separator you can get to be installed after the compressor, you can get one rather cheap online for just this model of compressor, it is actually just a cylinder that the compressed air gets through the top of and the water then flows down and slowly fills this cylinder the once in a while you just bleed out this cylinder/tank at the bottom and you can also do this with the big tanks if you have a manual valve, just hold the valve downwards and bleed out the water before usage That is pretty much it, use as good quality oil as possible and this will also help with the compression effectiveness of the compressor. I hope you then gets as happy as i do Sorry for my bad English, i don't know the proper English word for what the effect regular tap water has on aluminum as coolant, but grey white scales grows out from the dissolved aluminum and impact the lifespan and cooling performance of the compressor head greatly

The way you shut it off is not necessary my friend. It is of course your choice to do it that way if you want but the unit has a valve that stops back flow into the cylinder and piston. It is inside the block on the high pressure side that fills the whip to tank. I have seen others doing it that way and as I said...that’s your choice and you waste air for no reason really. There is a spring loaded valve to stop back flow because I have had it out checking it out when doing preventive maintenance on mine for the past 1-3/4 years now. I fill 3 tanks multiple times a week, a pony 68 cu inch, a 3 liter, and a 6.8 liter. They are all carbon fiber tanks. I, like you do not fill to 300 bar but I do fill to 4350 psi. One other thing that will improve the life of your pump is using Royal Purple Synthetic Compressor Oil. Like the oil your using...when it changes color and gets dark, change it. I also use a external 10-12” electric fan to help keep the cylinder, pipes, and motor much cooler as well as a small cooler filled with ice and just enough water to cover the pump. This method has resulted in a much much lower operating temperature of 96 degrees on average and the unit has never hit 100 degrees Fahrenheit. As I said in the beginning. You do it how you want when you shut it off but the way your doing it is unnecessary really and it is designed to just be shut off, close valve on tank, bleed whip, turn back on for 5 seconds with bleed screws open on both side to expel the water that has build up in the blocks which will over time damage the back flow prevention valve. Change the cotton filter when it gets wet. Unless it has excessive oil in it, you can dry it out by just letting it sit while your using a new filter if your running low on them but would recommend buying a 50 pice bag on Amazon or eBay. These are awesome little machines and mine has been amazing. Yong Heng...so I’m told...means “Mighty Midget”. PC or not I get it. It’s cheap but not cheaply made. I have the exact unit model you are using and it is great. I also have a video...made with a cell phone on my KZbin channel...my name...Heath Halfhill...on this compressor showing how I can and do keep this little guy cool and running forever if your interested. It is for education and you don’t have to like or subscribe, just get more life and reliability from your compressor. Like I said...I run the hell out of mine and from zero psi to 4350 psi for 48 minutes straight run no breaks filling a 6.8 liter tank for the first time...my compressor never goes or will go over 96 depress F and yes I did swap the gauge for Fahrenheit fish tank gauges. 2 for 5$ on Amazon. I don’t do Celsius here in the USA and doing conversion got old real quick. Hope this helps you bud and congratulations on your purchase. Check out Air Velocity Sport...Stephen...also on his moister removal system. It can be made for under 50$ and is easy using larger oil water separation filters and replacing the cotton with desiccant beads that change color when the need replacing and can be recharged and used again plus mixing molecular sieve beads 13X in with it to remove what little oil smell also. Aaron Cantrell also has a neat trick with a wet cloth that even reduces the temperature even more when rapped around the top pipe you got burnt on. AVS...Stephen...shows you all the components needed. Hope this helps. Take care bud and stay safe and well. Sorry for the long read. Just trying to help you get the most out of your investment.

"I, like you do not fill to 300 bar but I do fill to 4350 psi." Isn't 300 bar 4351 psi? I guess if you're only going to 4350 psi then yes, you're only filling to 299.92 bar :)

Hi Steve mate of mine has had a Yong heng, it's smashed it's main piston twice as he uses it on big bottles, and his auto shut-off/gauge went wrong after 4 months, however these are very handy to have, I've a New Warrior compressor and it's not had alot of use but I wouldn't be without one now😎😎😎😎, I used my bottle that I've filled with this for blowing up some party balloons, no I couldn't see any condensate in any of them👍👍👍
@Kevin-ib4gv
@Kevin-ib4gv 3 жыл бұрын
It does have a check valve preventing backflow from tank to compressor so it's not necessary to stop it that way. Also it saved you putting 250 bar air into the compressor as you opened the tank valve before starting the compressor. Now, if the check valve should fail due to contamination, there could be problems big time. Even though there's a check valve, when starting I recommend leaving the tank valve closed, start the compressor, and bring the compressor up to the tank pressure, then open the tank valve and continue filling. Much gentler on the system. When shutting down close the tank valve at the same time you open purge valve then shut down compressor, preventing high pressure air from making its way back to the compressor and possibly damaging the piston while stopped. Again this is all not necessary providing the check valve is functioning properly but you never know!

I have had it now for over a year and not one problems i have filled 2 dive bottles from 150bar to 300bar most weeks and has stood the test of time. Mine does have the auto shut off but not had any problems with that either. All in all very pleased with it and saved me loads of time and money over the past year. Plus had one of my bottles retested a few weeks back and no sign of water or rust. I use 2 of the little filters and that seems to work ok.

Hi Steve great vid and yep I recommend the Yong Heng to anyone, 6 months on and filling 9L bottles all the time ( yes i am an unashamed airgunning addict ) its never given me a problem. Keep the oil clean and be gentle when stopping them and they just keep going. Warning to those buying a compressor be very careful buying any other brand, there are ones that are knock offs of the Yong Heng that are about the same price and appear identical, so its not even buying ultra cheap that can be the problem. I unfortunately got one as at the time I couldn't find a YH . It was a death trap never mind hiding behind the garage door I wanted a vault door. Constantly burst discs leaked and even stripped threads. Buyer beware!

If you can get it get the slightly more pricy one with auto shut off should be about £320 +/- a bit. 12 month of topping 12L tanks and still going strong. Halfords do the hydraulic oil or get it on line at the same time.

That little cotton filter actually catches water also, if you only fill your gun it is quite sufficient. Just remember to open the housing and take the filter out to dry after each use. When filling a bottle like you do a bigger moisture trap definatly is a must. I made my own similar to the one AVS made with molecular sieves. I also put a bleed valve between the filters to get most possible moisture out when bleeding the system after a fill. It also puzzles me why they recommended an oil that doesn't handle the heat that the second stage of compressing creates. I recommended a purpose made hpa oil that doesn't carbonizes on the second stage piston. Got me some Rye oil fully synthetic compressor oil 100 which is rebranded Mobile rarus 827 but at a fraction of the cost. I have run it for a couple of hours since the last change and it is still clean like new oil. The exact same compressor named DAVV recommend using iso 100 synthetic compressor oil but not YH. My manual states a maximum 1hour running time or 1litre bottle fill. Well it has to be pretty worn out to only manage that because I filled an AGA324 pack = 8 litres from 60 to 280bar in about 36 minutes. I did get the setable auto shutoff model as a help to not over fill my guns with smaller tanks but now I only fill my AGA pack and my guns when they are totally empty after servicing/tinkering. I totally agree that you should never leave the compressor unattended when filling. Hope your Yong heng will last for a very long time. 😊

Had one for about 6 months before the top of the piston disintegrated. Parts are cheap, but only available on AliExpress, and take a couple months to ship to the US. Repair was pretty simple till I tried to install the oil seal. Being exposed to oil, it shrunk and wouldn't go b ack into place (go figure, an oil seal that shrinks after being exposed to oil?). Now, waiting on a new oil seal. Entire cost of repair is probably under $25 US, but taken months waiting for parts. Love the flexibility of the compressor, probably saved some serious $$ compared to having the local paintball shop fill my bottles, but I did expect more than 6 months before problems set in. Others have had better experiences, this is just mine. I also understand that they've redesigned the piston to be a tad stronger. That's a good thing!

filling my Huben K1 mk 2 . up to 290 bar and the pump slowed dramatically and seized . / stopped .. I have used it solely to recharge my airgun cylinder for only 8 times . my temperature gauge stopped showing after the first use. but was showing quite low temperature .on stripdown there was a black almost sticky deposit on the brass second stage piston .. this was easily cleaned off . there was no visible damage and the compressor ran faultlessly on a subsequent restart .and it rapidly topped up my huben titanium air cylinder to 250 bar . My compressor has the auto cut off .which may be causing the overheating issues . releasing the pressure and allowing the compressor to free run for a few seconds may be a good precaution . to allow the seconnd stage piston / rod to run free.

Hi Steve . I’ve had a “knock off “ non Yong Heng for two years now . I top off my 7l to 280 bar every six weeks and my little Day Tripper almost weekly . Your method of shut down really isn’t necessary as there is a non return valve on the head to protect the unit . Just might help to save air . Another thing and I’m going to get blasted here , I only use the supplied water filter . After probably almost one hundred fills the inside of the cylinder shows absolutely no trace of any moisture . I’m not saying after market water filters are not necessary, I’m just giving my experience. Great review . Hope this helps .

I think maybe in the East coast where the humidity is a lot higher you may have to worry about it more, But where I live in the desert of Arizona I'm hoping that I won't get much moisture from atmosphere.
@huntjunky1
@huntjunky1 4 жыл бұрын
With reference to water/oil filtering you can just put a second identical housing inline and use desiccant beads in it to eliminate all moisture. I recently hydro tested my 7L after 35 fills and no moisture what so ever plus the filter housing/fittings/hose are readily available as replacement parts.

The humidity is averaging about 86% here in Florida and I hate to think that I'm going to get water inside of my tank which is made from steel and have it rust inside so I use the original small filter with desiccant and charcoal and then I use the big separator with more desiccant and cotton filters. When I use a hand pump outdoors you can see a puff of moisture every time you shoot so I will not use the hand pump outdoors in high humidity but it's okay inside of an air conditioned house or I must use the filters

@Beesa10
@Beesa10 4 жыл бұрын
@@allenb8350 That's a fair point, the main drawback of the Ultra is the relatively low number of shots per fill, particularly in .177 which does ~35 consistent shots. The .22 gives ~55 consistent shots. I would argue that most people who want to do a bit of pest control are unlikely to need more than 35 shots in a session so the compact, lightweight, lower cost Ultra will be an excellent choice. Consistent shots per fill can be increased by an aftermarket regulator & tune at a later date. For ratting on a larger scale an off the shelf R10 (which is an excellent rifle) with it's greater number of shots per fill would be the better choice.

I didn't want to buy the special hydraulic oil at the tractor supply and heard people using some special hydraulic oil from Royal purple that cost $90 for a gallon, so I decided just to use mobile 1 10w/40 (✷‿✷). Just watch the temperature gauge and keep it under 70° Celsius. Also open the low pressure bleeder a little bit to let out any moisture every 5 to 6 minutes.

The crank case where the compressor cylinders attach fail and exploded throwing the pistons and case framents flying. The rupture disk did not fail. The air pressur reached 4,250 PSI as I reache to open the pressure blow down valve and close the air tank valve the explosion occured. The machine oil level was check before running, the water circulation was checked and found acceptable. In addition I was montering the machine running temp. and was at 57C to 60C all item were in the acceptable perimeter as specified by Young Heng manual. I used this unit for a year about every two weeks. In my oppion the aluminum case is to thin and cannot stand up to the stresses caused with frequent use.

I am sure there are many cheap parts on the compressor for the price. But if you look after it with regular oil changes and careful as I indicated in the video, it will last sometime. Many others have had these for years with no issues. But if you want perfection, then you can always spend 1000's on an industrial compressor.

Steve, this is Steve...I think you have stopping under pressure confused with starting under pressure. Stopping has no effect on the components you are concerned about. Starting certainly will. I purchased the auto/set version for $249 US plus $60 shipping 2 1/2 years ago and after 25 hours of operation, it has been flawless. I only run it for 15 minutes at a time and let the gearcase cool for 10 minutes (which will be your first point of failure) then start it again. It takes 45 minutes run time to fill my 7L bottle from 2800 psi to 4500 psi which is keeping up with the big boys at 5 to 10 times the price. The auto shut off is a great safety feature if you ever get side tracked along with the integrated burst disc as a backup. Why wouldn't you buy this?

mine has seized after a limited amount of use .. around 8 airgun cylinder top ups to 300 bar, . The compressor really struggles above 280 bar and I think this is the top pressure to set the auto cutoff at . releasing the air pressure prior to switching off may be a saving grace procedure . The seizure resulted in no visible damage only a sooty black deposit on the brass piston rod . After a clean and polish the compressor ran faultlessly . Fingers crossed it will return to reliable performance restricting the charging to 259/280 bar .

You should cover yourself from the explosion of your bottle/tank than the explosion from the small high pressure piston and connecting tubes of your yong heng. Look at it like a small plenum vs large plenum of the fx impact. The small plenum, say at 150 bar, spits out a pellet at lesser speed than with a bigger plenum at similar 150bar. The damage caused by the explosion of 200bar bottle is not comparable to the damage of the explosion of the small (2nd) piston or tubes from your yong heng. There is one way valve between your high pressure piston and the end tubes connecting the burst disc-outlet block going to your bottle/tank. When the tubes from the compressor breaks, the air from your tank will not return back to the tubes. The 2nd stage high pressure piston is as small as the connecting tubes. Watch the video of disassembly of the yong heng and you will see how safe that comoressor is.
