I rebuild motorcycle engines and when I have a shrunken gasket ..I wipe both surfaces clean and dry and apply a drop of superglue where I want it to stay put.

Gary Stratton cheers Gary, yeah I’ve rebuilt one or two in my time also! That’s exactly how I got the bugger on in the end after much irritation 😆I haven’t even looked at it for at least a year now as I found an old English built Siebe Gorman divers compressor from the early 60’s, it was originally fitted with a 4 stroke Clinton gem engine it hadn’t been used for decades and the check valves were all cocked up, I put a 240 volt single phase motor on it, it’s not as fast pumping as the China one but I find I don’t have the adrenaline rush using it like I do with the Yong heng one wondering what oriental surprise is going to jump up and bite me in the arse when I least expect it 😳 Thanks for your comment, All the best, Mel

Putting in that rubber gasket reminded me of installing motorcycle CV carburetor diaphragms.

WARNING: I had a Young Heng compressor rated for 300 bars (4250 PSI), I used this compressor to top of my air tanks to 300 bar which my air rifle requires. The crank case where the compressor cylinders attach failed and exploded throwing the pistons and case framents flying. The rupture disk did not fail. The air pressur reached 4,250 PSI as I reache to open the pressure blow down valve and close the air tank valve the explosion occured. The machine oil level was check before running, the water circulation was checked and found acceptable. In addition I was montering the machine running temp. and was at 57C to 60C all item were in the acceptable perimeter as specified by Young Heng manual. I used this unit for a year about every two weeks. In my oppion the aluminum case is to thin and cannot stand up to the stresses caused with frequent use.

Buy a compressor of these at 220volts, use it once and now part with difficulty and it works for a minute and stops as if it lacked strength not that it could be...
