Dude thank you so much! I used the Canon versions of these on a cruise ship for 18 months total and could always adjust the power on the Controller no problem. But when I switched to Nikon I couldn't control the power which is one of the main reasons I bought the YN622N system... and you just solved the problem for me at 5:51 so God bless you, Sir!

Hey, you may want to include somewhere that the AF assist on the flash must be ON for TTL to work. If the AF assist on the flash is off, Manual will work, but TTL setting on the TX will not trigger the flash.

I recently purchased a Yongnuo 568EX II flashe and have been trying to use it with the Youngnuo YN622-C TX controller connected to my Canon Rebel T3i and YN622-C Trigger Transceiver. While the flash is firing, I'm having two issues: (1) I am not seeing and difference in the flash power in manual mode - whether I set it to full power (1/1) or minimum power (1/128) it completely blows out any image and is seemingly firing at full power (I followed your advice and set the flash to TTL); and (2) when I set the controller to ETTL mode the flash is firing but not registering at all in the image. The captured image is lit strictly by the ambient light. This second problem seems like a sync issue. In fact, taking a picture of the flash unit in action (at 1/60 - not High-speed sync) captures the image of the flash unit without showing the flash firing. Any help is appreciated.

David, I just purchased the Yongnuo YN622N-TX Controller and YNN622N Flash Trigger Transceivers for my NIKON D610/Nikon SB-700 Flash. After watching your great videos for the Yongnuo I began installing and following your instructions on set up. Either my camera is not communicating with the controller or the controller is not communicating with the transceivers. When you depress the TEST button on the controller the lights flash on the transceiver...but NO flash whatsoever. Is this an update issue OR do I have something set up wrong? TTL,Channel 1, Group A on both Controller, transceiver, flash and camera. When depressing the cameras shutter there is NO flash. The lights blink on the Yongnuo transceiver...but no flash. Settings on the Controller are NOT showing up on the flash when I make a change. Help please. Thanks, Dave

I have a Nikon d610 and a Neewer tt850. I was wondering if this will allow high speed sync with my flash/camera setup. I've been looking at a couple transceivers and just wanted to see how this one performed. I just need the right transceiver in order for my flash to do hss (that's what it said in the manual for the tt850.)

Luk Crys Your statement is true "you don't need a HSS flash to have a flash speed up to 1/4000 or 1/8000" To prove this point with one of my photos with this link facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1834224870135005&l=fa129f88f9 In this photo; I am using (3) yongnuo yn-622n and one of the flashes that I am using is a basic YN560-II flash which does not have a TTL setting only manual, (I use this all of the time as a back fill light) and I am shooting with a shutter speed of 1/1600 and up to 1/2000 in some of the other shots in this photo session.

David this is a great and very informative video. I have the YN 622N-Tx and the YN 622n receivers. I have one SB910 and another Sb600. Both flashes are in i-TTL mode, both set to channel 1, the SB 910 to Group A and the SB 600to group B. They both are triggered and fire when my camera fires. I just can not change the flash out out from the controls on the YN622N-TX. What could be the problem? Looked everywhere and can not find the answer. Thankyou in advance

Can you tell me what I am doing wrong.......I have the Altura wireless trigger system. When I hook it up to my two flashes and my Nikon D750 I can not trigger the the flashes when I push the camera shutter button...the only way that the camera and the flashes go off together is when I push the button on the transmitter which is mounted on the cameras hot shoe.....when I watched you using the Yongnuo YN 622N System I saw that the flashes went off when you pushed the camera shutter button.great video.......

I have 2 transceivers and 2 flashes as you do. Have you tried NOT using the TX transmitter? Instead mounting the transceiver on the camera hot shoe and putting the flash on top of that. The other transceiver is on a light stand with a flash sitting on top. The transceiver transmitting channel can be changed (talking about the one sitting on the camera of course), I figured that out. But haven't yet figured out how to remotely change the power on the flash on the light stand. Would you know? Any info would be helpful, thanks David!

David: Great review and explanation of the features. Do you always have to turn the unit off when making adjustments? Does it have to be also off the camera hotshoe? or can you make adjustments when mounted on the camera without turning the unit and camera off. I'm just thinking that when you are on a shoot, you want to make adjustments quickly.
@davidcarrico3385
@davidcarrico3385 10 жыл бұрын
fx200fd, Sorry if I implied anything with the way I use it. I just always turn everything off when I am taking units on and off a hotshoe. I think the manufacturers recommend that. However, I don't know how big a risk of a short or anything there is. However, once you have the units connected, you can leave units on, etc and there is no requirement to turn anything off to make adjustments, etc. I'll have to watch the video again to see what I was doing. I do have a personal habit of turning my camera off when I am not actively shooting, but that is just me. You may have seen me waking up the flash from sleep to show a particular setting, but in those cases the flash was on, just in sleep (pressing shutter half way wakes it up).

Thanks for the really clear coverage in this video, David. I've gotten pretty facile with triggering two flashes from the hotshoe on my D800, so I like the feature of the YongNuo that allows adjustments on the transmitter, not requiring changing settings on the speedlights, especially if they're up on a stand. However, I'm using a Phottix Mitros flash in addition to the SB800. Will this trigger system work with the Phottix? I've tried to locate the manual or other info online to see before buying this system, and I find no working site for that. That creeps me out about buying this system. Do you know?
@davidcarrico3385
@davidcarrico3385 10 жыл бұрын
Kent, I don't know for sure. If it supports Nikon TTL, then there is a good chance it can be controlled by the TX since the flash just thinks its sitting on the camera in TTL mode when it is on the 622N. However, since you are already bought into Phottix, you may want to look into the Odin system. I do not have any direct experience with it, but hear nothing but good things about it. It is a bit more expensive than the Yongnuo, but still cheaper than Pocketwizards, etc.
@kentfairfield7595
@kentfairfield7595 10 жыл бұрын
David Carrico David, thanks a lot for your really prompt reply. You have a point about the Odin system. I find that that one is appreciably more (c. $400), so before responding to you, I thought I would dig further. I posted a question on what turned out to be a distributor in China, but nobody replied. Thus, I decided just to order the 622-TX and the 622 receivers and check them out. I ordered through Amazon, so I trust I can return them if they don't work as hoped. BTW, since other reviewers have bemoaned a pretty unhelpful manual that YongNuo sends, I will probably look and re-look at your video as my primary source for directions. Thanks again!

Kent Fairfield David, I'm tardy in reporting that I went ahead and bought the Yong Nuo transmitter and two receivers for my SB800 and Phottix Mitros. I've used them on two separate occasions and they worked flawlessly. I can indeed do the settings on the transmitter in the hotshoe, including adjusting the TTL settings or going manual (just as I was accustomed to doing with the built-in Nikon system). I hedged my bets by buying these on Amazon in case I had to send them back. I want you (and Yong Nuo) to know that since the company website is conspicuously vague and unhelpful, I did this only because your video here was so clear and encouraging. Thanks a lot! I saved a lot and, at least for now, am very happy with the choice.

Hi David, Thanks for the nice video~! I do not have the triggers yet but I do have a question Lets say you have 2 or more flashes under Group A, how do you control each one's mode and EVs individually from the TX? Whats the max supported flash per group? Thanks so much.
@davidcarrico3385
@davidcarrico3385 10 жыл бұрын
If you wanted to control them individually from the TX, you would put them into a separate group, as all flashes in the same group under control of the TX are set the same. The TX has three groups: A, B and C. If you need a fourth, you can set that 4th group manually on the flash, and assign it one of the three groups and that flash will fire, but not be controlled by the group setting. I could be wrong, but I do not believe there is a limit to the number of flashes in a group.

@ Muhammad Zakariya Muhammad, the 622Ns are transceivers, meaning they can act as either a transmitter or receiver, so you are good with your 3 and can use one to transmit. The 622Ns have a button interface so most people prefer buying the 622N-TX which is a dedicated transmitter. However, if you have a SB-910, SB-900, SB-700 or SU-800 you can effectively get a similar interface by putting one of those on top of the 622N on your camera and by using one of those as the controller. The 622N is pretty flexible, allowing a number of options. Hope that helps to clarify......Happy shooting.

I assume they will trigger from the 622n but my question is will I be able to adjust the power setting in manual mode on the 560-lll or iv? I don't want to buy another trigger if I don't have to and also be able to mix the lighting units in a single setup. Thanks in advance
@davidcarrico3385
@davidcarrico3385 9 жыл бұрын
Eli, unfortunately I don't believe the 560-III or IV can be remotely manually controlled by the 622N-TX. Their radio systems are compatible with the RF602 and 603, but not the 622. IF they supported Nikon on camera TTL, then theoretically you could control them remotely from the 622N-TX if they sat on 622Ns, but unfortunately I don't think those two flashes support on camera TTL on Nikon cameras. For that I think you would need a 468N or 568N. Not sure why their controllers don't support their varying systems, as it does cause some confusion........Anyway, good luck and please do post with any learnings you have as your search for the solution that matches your needs. Thx.

Could the YN622 Transmitter able to control the settings of the flashes without mounting onto the camera? My set up is one YN662 transceiver mount on my camera body with aSB910 flash and the other two flashes (YN 568 EX) are off camera with YN662 transceiver.
@davidcarrico3385
@davidcarrico3385 9 жыл бұрын
kokzai Not sure what you mean. If you asking if you can remove the YN622 and SB910 off camera and still use it, I believe the answer is 'yes'. Connecting them using a PC-sync to the camera will not work (I believe you would be able to fire triggers, but you would not be able control power or iTTL). In order to make it work, you would want to use a Nikon iTTL cable (like the SC-29) mounted on the hotshoe, and then mount the 622N on the other side of the cable. With that setup, all the control signals will still pass to the 622N (it will think its mounted on the hotshoe)

Colin Bryant, MD Not sure I fully understand your question. The YN560-TX is not compatible with the 622N system. You can set up the 622N system in one of two ways (3 actually) ,1) The 622N-TX on camera and a 622N under each remote flash. With this, you control the system with the buttons on the TX 2) The 622N on camera, and a 622N under each remote flash. With this you control the system with the buttons on the 622N on the camera 2a) this is the '3rd' option, where you have the 622N on camera PLUS a SU-800, SB900, SB910 or SB700 on the 622N on camera, with the flash on the camera set to Commander mode, and then a 622N under each remote flash. In this scenario the flash on the camera controls the entire system. Hope that helps.....

Hi David, thanks for introduction. I have the 622nEX with 2 transceivers (Group A, Ch 1), but the flashes (2 new NY510EX - TTL in slavemode only) dont fire (they do in M-mode). 3 questions: 1. in display of the receivers probably "slave n". Right? There is no TTL shown. 2. In menue of my D800 I have on Master-mode, no intern flash, Group A TTL. Or should I choose first option "TTL"? Tryied all ofc, nothing helped. §. Any activation between both tools (like NY560 III with triggers) neccessary? Would be glad for an answer. Sorry for my bad english ;)

Thanks for your reply David - I will let you know what is compatible when I receive the YN622N.... If it's not quite doing the job with the Mecablitz 44 AF-1, I will get a YN566EX or similar, and use the Mecablitz as a background flash or something - Thanks again for the tutorial...

I have 2 YN622n transcievers.. When turned on group and channel lights on 1st transceiver keeps blinking continuously whereas on the other transceiver when turned on group and channel lights go green for a second or two and then they do not blink continuously. Transceiver which keeps keeps blinking channel and group lights fail to trigger flash unit when tried using test button on YN622N-TX and the other transceiver works well. I tried resetting the transceiver by pressing Group & Channel buttons together for a while..but still 1 transceiver is not working..Could you please help me in this matter?

The Hell with Nikon's inferred system, we need to know about how the Radio part of them work as I am considering replacing my Pocket Wizards and want to know if it can be used as a remote trigger for my Camera...

You can use the YN622N system to remote trigger. You plug the 622N-TX into the remote port of the camera (it comes with the cable) and then use a spare YN622N as the handheld trigger. Works pretty well (or at least it has for me).....

Hi David I'm into photography for last 3 years and this is my first ever question/comment on any of the hundreds of videos I have watched online. Could you kindly clarify this to me: I bought 3 x Yongnuo YN 622N several months ago, but didn't use much. My impression was that those units are identical and any of them work as a Transmitter or Receiver. But after watching your video I am wondering if I was correct. I have never seen the "Transmitter" unit before. But I was able to fire flashes from any of those receiver units. Am I missing something or am I correct? Could you clarify this to me please? Thank you

hi David, hopefully still you are there :) i have this kit that you explained in this video but unfortunately i cannot sync with strobe flash in studio! why? Yongnou dosnt have strobe ttl flash in good condition, also cannot be sync with Visco strobe ttl flash! because the receiver of visico is not working with Yongnou! so i have to set my speedlights from Yongnou with this YN622N receiver and transmitter controller, although even i cannot set my visico studio flash with other speed-lights because visico doesn't produce any speed-lights and Yongnou speed-lights cannot be sync with it! so, 2 set, 2 brands, 2 parallel setting... dont you think it is better to set all (Speedlight ttl and manual + studio ttl strobes + receivers and transmitters with ttl and manual) in ONE BRAND like Godox, Phottix, etc? thank u

The buzz in the Internet/KZbin is that the FVL does not hold it's flash value lock and is faulty and only holds the FVL for only one exposure and has to be redone for each exposure and to this date been not been corrected by said manufacturer. Can you verify this or contact the manufacturer if the problems has been fixed?

Hi David, I also shoot with Nikon and I currently use the Yongnuo RF-603 and RF-603II triggers. My flashes are all manual, 2 Godox Ving 850 with HSS and 1 Yongnuo 560II. My questions are: 1. If I get the YN-622N, can I adjust the power levels and zoom of all the flashes remotely? 2. Does the YN-622N work with the RF-603 and RF-603II?

Does YN-622N-TX (I have firmware version 1.05) have proxy mode to be compatible with YN-560N-TX, enabling 560N-TX to remotely control manual YN-560IIIs' and I-TTL flashes on 622N transceivers? Apparently, the Canon versions have this capability...

Leighton Wong I do not believe that the Nikons have this capability. By the way, they have version 1.06 of the firmware available. I have not used it yet. The release notes only mention improved AF lamp compatibility with the D200.......

Great video. Helped a lot trying to get these set up. I am able to get these to synch and work with my SB600s in manual mode but not in TTL. They fire in TTL but are firing early? Manual works fine. Using the SB600 in TTL, attached to the 622N, triggered with the 622N-TX in TTL as well. Any ideas on what I have set incorrectly?

Darren, did you put your SB600 into the hotshoe of the 622N or try to attach it using a PC Sync cord? To do anything but trigger, you need to put it into the hotshoe. If you already have it there, I'll have to think about that, because right now I am not sure why it would be triggering early. Sorry I can't be of more help right now....

Hi David, my YN-622N worked on my D7000; however, now it is not working properly on my D750. Most of the time, it will not fire. Do you think if I buy the TX and update the firmware, it might fix my problem?
@davidcarrico3385
@davidcarrico3385 9 жыл бұрын
Donna Dunlap Donna, I haven't heard much from D750 users, good or bad, in relation to compatibility with the 622N system. The D810 seems to work, although I've mostly tested in remote manual mode. You may want to try the TX to see if it helps (as it does in some cases like in the use of the SB800) but I would suggest purchasing it from some place that has a good return policy. Let me know how it works out or if you hear more about D750 compatibility.
@JerryMilton
@JerryMilton 9 жыл бұрын
Hopefully you either figured it out on your own or read elsewhere that is just a slight misalignment becuz the flash shoe is slightly longer on the 750...just pull the trigger slightly back till you hear the pins lock into place and tighten down the trigger anc BINGO works as expected.

@davidcarrico3385
@davidcarrico3385 9 жыл бұрын
Does your 565EX support Nikon iTTL? If so, the flash needs to be set in TTL. The only place that should say 'manual' is on the TX. Then take a few shots at 1/128 power (set on the TX) and at 1:1 to verify that it is changing the settings (you won't see anything change on the flash when settings are changed - other than possibly hearing a zoom head shift)....Hope that helps....

@davidcarrico3385
@davidcarrico3385 8 жыл бұрын
I don't have a D5300 or a YN685. From reading about the YN685, I believe it has the 622N receiver built in but not the transmitter. With that said, you could put it on top of a 622N on camera and use the display on the YN685 to control your groups, power, etc. That would mean you would need two YN622Ns but not need a 622N-TX in that case. You could also use the SB700 in the same way (on camera on top of a YN622) and then the YN685 could be your remote, and since it has a 622N receiver built in, you wouldn't need a second YN622. Even though you wouldn't need the TX in the configuration you describe, it would still be a good purchase since you could use both flashes remote with the TX on your camera for added flexibility. Hope that helps and sorry I can't tell you more definitively since I have never handled the 685.
