In this video I try out Yorkshire Grit by Easy Wood Tools for the first time, going through all the instructions and sharing the outcome. I also used Mylands sanding sealer and friction polish for the other steps as per the Yorkshire instructions. It was great fun and I am excited to try it out again!

It brings the piece up to about 2000 grit, once you are taking it off ramp up you’re lathe speed and it really shines up. I’ve been using it for a few years. It also works really well on raw wood( no sanding sealer).

Hi Chad, I have been using Yorkshire Grit for a few years now. It originally came in an aluminum tin can. Fantastic product and works wonderfully on resin as well. There is another version, Yorkshire Grit microfine, that you use as the second part on resin and wow. I second the Hampshire sheen products as well. Fantastic waxes, dyes for coloring and sealants.

Hi Chad, first love your channel. I am new to turning and just tried Yorkshire Grit and loved it. I do not know if I did this correct, but I started with CA and BLO, 6 coats, Micro mesh, then Yorkshire Grit followed by Renansance Wax. Thanks for demonstrating this product. Love it

An interesting video would be a comparison between Yorkshire Grit and Ack's Abrasive Paste, which is all the rage on this side of the Pond these days. Also do you plan on carrying Hampshire Sheen products as well? The Brits use one with the other usually. Thanks.

Chad. Thanks for the review. I did notice when you were reading the instructions it said when removing the polish to slowly increase the lathe speed. I did not see that when you performed that step. I just wonder if the finish would have been even better if the lathe speed was increased... possibly increasing the friction to add to the sheen. Overall though, looks like a great product!

Good catch! And If I recall I think I did.. and perhaps Amy edited it out of the final video. (the original video was twice as long as I kept stopping to read the directions lol)

I’ve been watching Martin Saban Smith for years, and have also been using the Yorkshire/Hampshire products for years. It will be interesting to see how the acquisition by Easywood effects the price of this product. Also, by the way Chad, you say the “shire” like “sure”, not like the place Bilbo Baggins lived. 😉

Been using it for years on hybrid mills and wouldn't turn without it. However, I clen it off with alcohol before lacquer finish because it contains beeswax.
