Thank you for not calling it a Mexico, or even a replica, it is what you said a 1.3 with a cossie in it, so many people think every mk1 is a bloody mexico..colour wise stardust or stratos silver both old ford colours. They might work, and the build is exceptional, very well thought out..👍

Great car. I like the roll cage, after one similar (that allows the back seats to be used) when I get back to restoring my own

Thanks Paul , it's a Safety Devices Multipoint cage (weld in) . I chose to leave out the rear diagonal and move the rear strut brace to behind the rear firewall instead of in front of it 👍

Great car! I went for a colour between kawasaki green and le mans green called Opel 308. If I had the choice again I would have a serious think about the sort of saffron colour that can be found on the Peugeot 208.

Absolutely stunning Lee, that's a fascinating car, top class work, how about BMW dolphin grey as a colour for the car, I think that it would excentuate the lines of the body really well.

Any more info on the engine? What power? Built motor? Cams? Ported? Bigger valves? Etc. Great build by the way and really enjoyed the video.
@Cossie.Mk1 Жыл бұрын
The engine needs a total rebuild and will hopefully be the subject of a future video 👍. Brief spec as it stands - 2WD head , 200 block 92mm bore , EECIV plenum & oversize throttle body, Bosch 1000cc injectors, Link Monsoon x ECU , K20 Coil on Plug conversion, modified T34 roller bearing turbo with billet compressor wheel & .63 exhaust housings on a 4x4 manifold. RS500 sized intercooler. 3" stainless exhaust .
@Andrew-vx2ls Жыл бұрын
Very nicely researched, built up and clearly presented. Your video and notes are first class. Colour recommendations: although I am a fan of LM Green, I would personally look for a shade that featured on the earlier Mk1 (70/71) : (metallic) Tawny Brown as this looks fabulous if properly painted and maintained. Although it is tempting to add additional decals or roof finishes, but bubble arches and 9" wheels do the job admirably.

Thanks for the walk around of the car, your skills are way better than mine, I have been fighting with missing boot springs and wanted to fit gas struts, can you please give me the details of the ones you used as they seem perfect
@Cossie.Mk1 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Adrian , check out Album 8 on my Facebook build page for a bit more detail on the boot lid gas struts here > tiny.one/yckn9u9t The struts are just universal cabinet struts off ebay like these ones > eBay item number:401977404945 . I used 130Nm ones ,They do the job but could probably do with some a little stronger to be honest.

Utterly lovely Lee, I had a very similar car as a teenager back in 1971 built from a ‘67 1300GT but just with a 1600GT lump in it. (Lime green with a BRG side stripe). Love the wheels and curious to know what final colour and possible graphics you may be planning….Live long and prosper buddy!

Colour options, how about going Broadspeed or Allan Mann racing colours - or Gold leaf racing? But if it’s going to be just a road car, mine was lime green, - loved it mate, and don’t let the gold wheels limit your options! 🙏

Love this car.... How you know your MK1 is done correctly ??... It sits there looking mean, nasty and intimidating whilst switched off... Daytona Yellow is period, how about a take on that in metallic with Black Mexico Stripes and Black Wheels.... Great Video..
@Cossie.Mk12 жыл бұрын
Hmmm , Yellow ?....... I'd never thought of that. Deffo not black wheels though - each to his own and all that but its one of my pet hates . It kinda makes the wheels merge into the tyres with no real definition - you know ?
@simong39382 жыл бұрын
@@Cossie.Mk1 I get what you mean,, not sure yellow would work with Gold Wheels, but maybe..... Daytona Yellow used to be on Mk 3 Cortina's and I think some Mk 1 Capri's had it, the 2.0 GT or XLR . it's a cool colour.. I don't think I have ever seen an Escort Mk1 in Daytona Yellow. It is from same era though.. Oh I just did a quick google on it, is a few about, but I am not sure it was factory on an Escort. Enjoying your series, the car looks awesome.
