The methodical approach to troubleshooting is commendable. It’s these actions and attention to detail that explain why your builds are addicting to watch.

I am hooked. Your ability to focus on the issue until it's resolved is commendable. I have been watching your truck videos because I have a 1998 SSR-X Hilux Surf I want to modify so these videos are inspirational. Keep them coming.

Austin, just like you said (sometimes you got to take a step back and breath"). It's like a guy troubleshoots in his dreams while he is sleeping. I also had some breakthroughs to tough problems the very next morning. Also, I am really jazzed about the progress of this Tacoma build.

You have so much patience man. I admire your ability to troubleshoot things like that temp gauge
@joshc55123 жыл бұрын
Lol... kind of ironic that you were advising us on a good ground for the starter and your temp gauge issue ended up being a ground 😆 Great to see this build coming along and the idea coming to life. Going to be a great all around truck for years! Hopefully the laggy boost issue is just in the fuel/tune. Turning up the fuel a bit might get the turbo to spool a little quicker...
@Paulo-it5gq3 жыл бұрын
Love to see the project coming together, even the issue with the temp gauge is great content , love how u end up figuring it out , man the way u said this thing should be making 30 pounds thats a boost adict right there lol , keep it up that thing looks like a great built , PD's are awesome

NW may have boned the adapter, but they made it right with decent customer service. When you're dealing with custom parts in small production, sometimes mistakes happen. On the gauge, the ground off made sense, most gauges use two coils that work against each other to move the needle, only one coil was working so the gauge pegged. I think the one component on the gauge board is a diode (looked like orange/brown glass with a black stripe in the video.)

As a fellow TDI diesel swap builder, I can say that Northwest Fab has the NICEST adapters available. Better built than the others for a few reasons. They are clockable, and adapt off the shelf parts. the other companies i've used require modification to stuff like flywheels and crankshafts. That has a lot of drawbacks. stock parts are easy to get, custom ones are not. If I had the room for it in my rig, I would have used the Northwest adapter rather than the ACME, and still might when I decided to go with a toyota drivetrain.

Yes these are awesome adapters!!

That 'resistor' without any color bands ain't a resistor, its a diode. Your meter probably has a diode tester built in as well. A diode is like a check valve for electricity - it only let current flow in one direction.
@joseveliz69793 жыл бұрын
That's what i thought. A zener diode.
