As a Russian, I would also say that many of these words are being borrowed because of many games and other types of content being in English, many young people play games and have this own "gaming slang" but some words in the end become used outside of the community. like "юзать" that he mentioned before might have been originated from "to use an ability" in games, wich can also be transformed into "юзать абилку" where the world ability transforms into "абилку", and there are countless examples like that
@j7ndominica0519 ай бұрын
Games have a "use key" (spacebar, or E since Half-Life) for interactive objects, where the performed action can be quite different depending on the object, like opening a door, pushing a light switch or sitting on a chair, and no short single word exists to describe the general operation.

In fairness, it should be noted that the examples given here relate exclusively to youth slang. And the one, as you know, is born now on the basis of communication of those who are more advanced in the youth environment, that is, the speech of IT specialists and international network slang formed the basis. I am 45 now, and I clearly remember the time from 1990 to 2000, when personal computers of the IBM PC XT/AT system came into use, displacing home 8-bit computers. At first they aroused envy and delight, then they became more affordable, then they got modems, we started using BBS, and someone even had access to FIDO. Then the Internet became available (for me it was the summer of 1997)! And we opened something called chat. And then the whole stream of English terms came into use by young people avoiding official translation into literary Russian.

Normal and formal way but in different contexts we may use something other. For Example: Better use double-sided tape. Slang: "Лучше юзай двухсторонний скотч." Normal: "Лучше используй двухсторонний скотч." Like I would say most likely: "Лучше возьми двухсторонний скотч". Or "Да лучше двухсторонний скотч взять." Often instead of "Use" you can hear "take" for meaning "use" in Russian.

I like how once a foreign loanword finds itself in Russian it immediately starts playing by Russian rules. Unlike in German where you are supposed to try to keep the English phonetics of the word as well, otherwise you will sound ignorant, stupid and obsolete. It's one of the things I can't get used to in German and it makes me cringe. Espiecially when they mix in some AAVE features in their anglicisms it makes it 10 cringier.

Another reason Russians may use those English-derived slang words is that they are simply shorter than their Russian equivalents. This can particularly be observed in the Russian gaming community (which, I would argue, is the primary source of these slang words), where it is often very important to give information to your teammates as fast as possible. Also, in multiplayer games Russians often have to use English to interact with players from other countries, or the game might not even be translated into Russian and the original English words have to be used to refer to various things in the game.

By the way, we always transform english verbs like that. I mean like, any of them. When I feel that an english verb would suit better (and I know a person I'm talking to would understand me), I just add something like "-ить" or "-ать" and go use it, like why not. Let me think of an example... Oh right! Like when I talk about cleaning service company (which is "клининговая компания" in russian, contents "клининг" that sounds the same as "cleaning"), I may use "клинить" (to clean + ить) instead of "прибираться" (to clean up) just for fun: "Вот к нам приедут из клининговой компании через час.
