Hey Hampton, there is a particular form of training that I am struggling with for quite a while that I am hoping you could give me some pointers for an adequat incremental progression in training. Running, or at my current skilllevel, fastend walking at best. In the past years I tried to work myself up from slow walks in the park or on a treadmill to a light jog but each time when I start out my high bodyweight and lack of supportive musclemass and maybe improper technique lead to pain in feet, joints and or shins at the start, followed by overambitious increasing of tempo once I got used to walking at a steady pace again. This always leads to overexhaustion and returning of pain with me losing my consistency quickly and dropping it for months at a time, losing almost all my progress. Maybe you've got some pointers on how I can have a smoother path onto someday running and building up to that, or maybe could even do a video someday in the future so I can take reference on this seemingly easy task that I am struggling with. Either way I hope you too will have a lovely day, Zeno
@tecmalo68573 жыл бұрын
Hey, I don't know your weight, but if u are overweight running is a bad/unhealthy sport for you. As u sadly noticed, the joints, bands and muscles aren't used/build to sustain the high loads and forces you bring onto them. I would personally recommend Swimming. It is great for endurance and hasn't the high impact, that running has. Also the KZbin Channel "GTN" has a running for beginner series. Those are great ideas and exercises to get to 20-30min of running. But for healthy running you probably have to loose some more weight first. Also I really recommend a proper pair of running shoes, that matches youre running style. Go to a local running shop and talk with them just a bit and they can help you big time. I wish you the best on your journey, you can do it man 💪🏼 Edit: Also (fast) walking isn't a shame, just stay with it a bit longer, if swimming isn't a preferred sport of yours. With the time your muscles will grow and it will get easier ☺️

@tecmalo68573 жыл бұрын
@@Ronaldo-cj4zl Shin pain is often a result of overstress. You should definitely consider running only 2-3x a week. Also I want to give you the 10% rule on the way: never go faster or longer than ~10% per week. I know, that seems like nothing in the beginning, but it is a good way to scale your running in a healthy way. Also as i Said before: consider buying new shoes, that really match your running style. It really elevates your progress in a healthy way ☺️
@thefaboo3 жыл бұрын
To help those stabilizer muscles, you might try: calf raises (you can do these while brushing your teeth or waiting in line at the store) squats (also doable while brushing your teeth, if you can do them unsupported. Careful with your knees - only go as low as is comfortable) standing, lateral leg raises (hold onto a doorframe and lift your leg to the side. Don't worry if you can't go high) skaters (you see people demo these with a little hop - you don't have to do that. Go slow, keep you balance) toe taps (lay your back, bend your knees, point your toes, and tap the floor alternating your feet) I'm not a runner, but I am a martial artist and my spouse has chronic balance issues, and that's some of what we both use to improve our balance and mobility.
