The UT2004 mod was inconceivably better in every regard. Fun trivia, despite also have the worst sound ever slapped onto an SMG in a video game, the dev team also only had two prior projects under their wing. They were both horror movies. I can't think of any other development studio that produced both games and cheap DTV Schlock. *I wonder why.* Also holy shit, the levels in this game are some of the drabbest, most empty-ass locations I've ever seen in a game. They are so expansive but every interior room is literally copypasted with nonsensical prop placement and despite clocking in roughly 7 hours according to my steam records it felt so much longer. What a mess.

I can defend the game - I work for the guys who came up with and had it made. They hired a company to do the coding and worked with a publisher to get it out on the various platforms. It was coming along with issues, as the developer wasn't listening to my boss, and then the publisher decided that they were tired of waiting and forced them to release it when it was half done. The original concept of the game was awesome, and would have been amazing if they actually made what he paid for.

@@MattMcMuscles I don't know a lot of the details, as I didn't work there at the time. My coworker told me most of the details. The owner of the company was always exploring new ways to generate income and wanted to branch out in the media world. The company was called Blue Omega Entertainment. They also made two movies which didn't do very well and another game on iOS called "Attack of the Dust Bunnies", which was cute and typical of games at the time. The owner is still operating other businesses, some of which have been very successful. He's like an American version of Richard Branson on a smaller scale. Very cool guy.

I got this game as a kid in a used bookstore, the same place that sold me Painkiller. Needless to say it did not live up to the expectations that game set. Later on the game gets... 'better', in that they give you a kind of auravision you can use to remotely revive your teammates and wallhack enemies, IIRC. The combat is still awful. The best approach is to stand a mile away and use a sniper rifle because enemy damage is very high and a single hit makes it hard to aim at anything. Alternatively you can leave it to the AI to handle and die of old age instead. Later levels aren't so gray. There's a lot of cool visuals in the native american megalopolis reservoir, at least outside of its cave sections. There is a motorcycle section. It is a glitchy mess (you can drive on ceilings) and it's the best part of the game because you can go so fast you skip all combats. The plot is if anything dumber than it sounds. I'm almost certain that ninja is in fact Rourke's brainwashed native american ex-wife, which is part of why he has spirit auravision powers. I cannot recommend it to anyone other than a masochistic historian.
