The family that moved and the kids want to go back - things will not be the same. Their old friends have made new friends. Their cousins have different lives. The sports teams aren't going to kick out the players they drew into the teams to give these kids their old places. There may be different teachers in their old schools. They could end up being miserable in their old town!

What an excellent point. My Grandmother used to always say “You can’t go backwards …” referring to situations where we might have wanted to reinvent our pasts somehow. Takes many forms, I think, and moving back to old cities and familiar places would be a perfect example. Even if it was possible to move back to the same house, it would still be an entirely different experience.

Sorry, I'm a boomer who was actually frugal later in life🥺😭. No debt.🥳❤ HOUSE PAID OFF IN A YEAR WHEN WE BOUGHT IT IN 2013. " TUNA AND BEANS", old car still works, no vacations, keep a handle on electricity, water, garbage, and buy DESIGNER CLOTHES AT THRIFT SHOPS😇, use coupons, bogo at Publix, ask for senior and army discounts everywheres. THE ONLY THING I'M BAD at is EATING OUT AND NOT EATING EVERYTHING IN THE FRIG. Other than that 😇🥰. i also started renting a room in my house (3000sq. ft.) for $1000 a month and putting that in 5% CD's. I could do 2 roomies but its too much for me. Sell the house ( just me now) NO WAY! PAY RENT NEVER AGAIN! Share a wall OMG NEVER , NEVER, NEVER AGAIN!! ( condo, townhouse)

Great show tonite. To the guy that blames the housing shortage on Baby Boomers because he can’t buy a second or third house. 1. The majority of Boomers that own homes only own one house, their primary residence. 2. Baby Boomers on Social Security are having a difficult time. Boomers are the fastest growing section of the homeless population. Over Hal’s the homeless are Seniors. Buy one of their houses. 3. There are loads of vacant homes out there, however, these houses are in small towns or small cities where there are very few jobs and their economy is a disaster. 4. Grow up and be a man. Stop blaming Baby Boomers for all your problems. Those Boomers who own homes have worked long and hard for the privilege of owning a home. Get to work and do the same yourself.

She can also google "What families can do for free in ____________" and list the city. Usually provides a list of ideas. And a good way to do something for free is to do something for someone else - volunteer at a food bank or animal shelter, make cards for a nursing home or drop by and have kids read someone there a story, etc. What kids really want is YOU, the parent, with undivided attention (at least some of the time.)

The first caller should've been advised to start showing her illustrations on a KZbin channel, Instagram and TikTok. Many artists have been discovered by companies from showcasing their work on those platforms. Deviant Art is another big one companies scout artists on. Draw everyday BUT simultaneously make videos showing what you're drawing and why. This way she is building an audience and virtually networking on these platforms

Great show. Loved the call from Jessica. Across cultures, I’ve seen so many of these kind of strong women who are leaned on (and some would say leeched off of) by people in their family all their life. At the end of it all, their body and minds are worn out and while one would expect gratitude in return, that doesn’t always come. I hope she’s able to cast off her shackles, fly away and live a bit.

I wish parents these days would understand that they don't decide their entire lives around the comfort of their children. Teach your children how to go with the flow and deal with change because life is constantly changing. It's about raising your children to be solid adults that handle change with grace and being able to overcome things. We've got to stop raising soft children that are only in households that completely cater to them

The letter about living in Iowa making $300,000, but the kids are unhappy and want to go back to Washington.....at what point do those kids get to dictate that decision? Unless they're working part time and contributing to the household, they don't get to whine....I wouldn't move for that reason....because then you're teaching said kids that if they whine enough, you'll do whatever they want. My mom switches jobs because she was a teacher, which meant I had to switch schools to be wherever she was. I didn't like it at first....I felt stupid because it was so different. It ended up being the best thing to happen....going to a different school took 3 months to adjust to and it was better in the long run.

If you are talking about how John shouldn't be on then you clearly don't realize all of you people watching that DONT HAVE YOUR FINANCES IN ORDER need to do some introspection and thats what John is there to do. It becomes an internal thing when you clearly cant get it right. It isn't just " I cant pay my bills." LEARN PSYCHOLOGY AND THE PSYCHOLOGY OF MONEY. READ THEIR BOOKS AND YOU WILL KNOW A PSYCHOLOGIST SHOULD BE ON THE SHOW!!! ignorance. You don't know why you're doing this and why you can't pay your bills and get out of debt...that's where a Psychologist comes in to play! They dig deeper than where you can clearly go or have gone to get to the bottom of your habits. It might stem from childhood poverty, addictive behavior or lack of discipline..It's not a one size fits all WHATSOVER! Each call is unique and different and some might be similiar but most will never be the same as to why they are $180,000 in debt and cant keep spending

@@notgivingmyemail3381 What I’m saying is it comes out organically. He’s not trying to do it to be funny, he has low self esteem! When you hear him choke up on a podcast because he couldn’t put his hand on his chest and say the words “I love this guy” as directed by his counselor without breaking down and crying you would know how much he struggles with his self worth! It’s heartbreaking but like I said he’s on a journey to healing!

Oh, my! I just about spit out my tea listening to Jesse! I am rolling on the floor laughing. I'm a boomer who is nowhere near ready for a retirement community or a skilled nursing facility, nor am I close to dying. Am I supposed to apologize for buying my house several decades ago, because now others need to buy my house? Oh, my goodness, that guy is hilarious. He seems to think all boomers are close to death.
