Voddie is 1 of the few that doesn't water down the gospel. Not many men I can say the lord will say "good job with your time there son" Voddie Bauchum nearly 10urs ago I was drawn to Christ. The journey since jas been, we'll truth is stranger than fiction. A huge thanks to you Voddie, John McArthur, RC sproul, Paul washer have helped me learn and grow, apart from the word it's not easy to find sound teaching. Thank you all! When I was in my 50’s I thought I had acquired enough wisdom to set things in black and white. When I look back, I see I wanted to make a perfect roadmap, and cut off any obstacles. The problem with age is- we still keep learning, and rules we made seem, well good meaning, are in need of tweaking. Christ didn’t make the good news difficult to understand, or the thief on the cross wouldn’t have met Jesus in heaven. We believe in Christ and grace, and our hearts want to be like him.

The contrast he makes is works righteousness vs the gospel, meaning the gospel is righteousness by faith (and also a catch-all term for participation in Christ’s kingdom, which we never move beyond). As a follow up question, I’m curious about how that relates to Hebrews 5 and 6, especially 6:1. Hebrews 6:1 (ESV) Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,… So if the gospel were limited to righteousness by faith, then yes we ought to move beyond it. I suppose he is saying that moving toward maturity is encapsulated in participation in the kingdom, and that is included in the gospel. The beginning of Romans 1 and the beginning of Romans 15 emphasize the gospel in light of Christ’s death and resurrection and which results in the obedience of faith is that in which we are being saved. Matthew and Mark, for example, use gospel to mean the call to repentance and faith as well as the coming of the kingdom. I find the term gospel quite unclear in how “we” use it nowadays. Yes it is more than “just” righteousness by faith, but clarity and meaning get lost when gospel means anything and everything.

The Gospel is The Good News. We are sinners, but God provided a way for us to be saved, through faith in His only begotten Son. That's The Gospel. ChildofGod I have this post of yours on multiple sermon pages for a couple of years. You always mention being a single mom with two special needs boys. They must be getting a lot older by now. I have been seeing this same post for quite a while.. All special needs kids receive SSI, and several helps for taking care of them. I have two special needs kids and know exactly what you could receive. I really doubt you are sincere, but a scammer trying to get money. I also watch a special needs young man and get paid by the state while his mother works a full time job. I pray the Lord will stop this scam of yours and grant you repentance. Read James 2:14-26. Faith without works is dead. When we have a personal relationship with Christ we want to serve Him and others. God can't use spectators. They have to be willing to totally surrender to Christ so He can use them to advance His kingdom. Amen!
