I remember wanting to be a musician when I was younger. I had a friend that was very much Beyonce and her parents heavily supported her career. I did not have that support and couldn’t sustain it. I now see her doing great things to this day. She went to a big music school and has performed with really big artists. I support her soooo much even though I didn’t get the same privileges she had to pursue music. And in the end I found things that I am more privy to instead. I rub shoulders that wouldn’t have been possible if I kept trying to purse a life I didn’t have the privilege to support. Sometimes you just have to work the cards you’re dealt with and make the most of your own advantages and not someone else’s just because they seem more glamorous.

Kelly has always been beautiful to me. the problem with Kelly is that she was never consistent in her music career like she always let her dating life overshadow her career. I've noticed this pattern with Kelly from the Destiny's Child days in the 2000s. Honestly, she should have gone her separate way sooner. I do think that there’s a fear that if Kelly rejects to talk about Beyoncé, then the interviewers would no longer want to speak with her. I do empathize with her. Imagine growing up with someone who has immense privileges and support that you don’t and having them skyrocketed to the top of the charts with immense resources and financial backing. Kelly is living in Beyonce’s shadow and I think that’s why she’s happy to have her own thing now. I’d be so offended if I went into an interview excited to talk about my own work, only to be asked about that person over and over again. this video made me realize how common having a scarcity mindset is amongst uabw. I've witnessed it my entire life. A lot of the time all it would take is them taking action and daring to believe in themselves instead of hyper focusing on comparison with other women to the point of developing a life-long inferiority complex. I think a great example of this is Aya Nakamura from France. She's the first French dark skin black woman to experience such global success. You can tell a lot of it has to do with her mindset. She even discussed having to fire most of the people on her team and having to do a lot of things on her own once she became a mother because they didn't believe she could balance her career and being a mom. Sometimes you have to fight for the things you truly want and make the most out of your circumstances. A lot of the time the black community will scapegoat us instead of unpacking how they'll immediately start victimizing when it's time to take action or addressing their fear of failure.

She’s also had plenty of performances where she made mistakes, she even fell down the stairs once on stage at a concert. Beyoncé didn’t give an F and kept going. When Beyoncé first came out I remember thinking she couldn’t sing or dance, and that was the general consensus of everyone around me as well. That’s Why I had to drop them. I invited them into my home and they wanted all my things and they wanted my males and clothes and jewelry and style. I kept them as friends for years because I liked them and I overlooked their jealousy and envy. One day I left the city & broke all contact. It’s impossible to have female friends especially if the friends ain’t similar to you on any level. Ever since I first saw Destiny’s child on tv as a teen I knew Beyoncé stood out because of her energy and beauty and aura. I knew she could not continue being in that group for long. I remember years ago in an interview Kelly was asked to tell the viewers something about Beyonce that we wouldn't know or expect and she said that Beyonce can be very messy and sloppy and leaves clothes lying around. From then on I've always looked at Kelly with a side eye. Whether it's true or not a real friend who truly loves you would not reveal such information about you to the whole world. Yes colorism and featurism does exist in the Industry and Kelly is beautiful and and talented of course but her talent is not on Beyonces level if we are being truly honest. Beyoncé (with no fault) was born a child to two parents that would eat each other alive if it got in the way of their own self interests. Beyoncé was sacrificed by Destiny’s Child's very own promotional team in saga of the first breakup in 1998. Despite minor jokes against her from 1999-2002, Beyoncé made the ACTIVE choice to embrace the chaos of a lead singer. From a business aspect, her label (Columbia) was already a veteran label and had WAYYYYY more means to promote her work flop or NOT. There’s a reason why Beyoncé has had much more exposure than other exoticals such as Christina Milian (who I Love!) Kelly Rowland unfortunately has had a very mediocre team of people post-2002 and with EVERY radio hit of hers would be an album that would be pushed back almost 4 times. The 2000s Record Business could not afford inconsistent releases and that seemed to be all her team executed. Kelly and others like her specifically, failed to find opportunity in the exact negative roles others have projected on them. If Beyoncé was able to embrace the “Catty Leading Diva in The Making” role American Media dubbed her as, Kelly should have been just as compelled to develop her very own creative and promotional team….. ……instead of being passive promotion to the DC/Beyoncé solo brand. I also wouldn’t underestimate the Knowles/Carters ability to end careers. There are many theories that Jay and Beyoncé (yes, before they were even a thing) were involved in Aaliyah’s passing because she would have been a direct competition to Beyonces limelight and influence. When you look at early footage of Beyoncé in destinys child and in interviews, her arrogance is very apparent. She would not allow space for Kelly and Michelle to shine. Those two would have beautiful moments or say intelligent, thoughtful things only to be immediately over talked or forcefully over sung by Beyoncé. Not to mention the footage of her trying to desperately outdo Celine Dion. She was not a nice or fair person and I’m sure that didn’t change once she got more money and power.
