I've used 2 of those frames to make 2D glasses. They're great if 3D movies make you dizzy/sick, but you still want to go to the 3D movie with your friends. The trick is to make a new pair with 2 left lenses, or 2 right lenses. This is because the polarization pattern is the same direction, and when watching 3D movies, your new glasses will filter out one of the 3D fields, making it 2D.

Doesn't it make the image much darker than it already is?
@JimmySlaughter Жыл бұрын
@@mbuyelo7131 Nope, it has no effect with a single lens. It would be darker, only if you put 2 lenses on top of each other, like Dave demonstrated in the video.
@mbuyelo7131 Жыл бұрын
@@JimmySlaughter whoops I misread your comment thanka for clarifying
@TheArtofWalls Жыл бұрын
@@mbuyelo7131 As darker as unmodified 3D lenses do. In unmodified 3D lenses, each lens filters out one of the fields (left lens filters out the right field, right lens filters out the left field) so you get half of the light for each eye. In the modified lenses, both lenses filter out one of the fields, the only difference is you are filtering the same field in both eyes so you get also half of the light for each eye. So no difference in the amount of darkness.

Wow I can see some cool effects being done with those lenses. Firework glasses are also fun to mess with because you get that rainbow effect with any source of light.

When movies were filmed in black and white (and mute!), there was a practical makeup FX that consisted in using a red or blue lens to hide some makeup painted in red or blue in combination with red or blue lighting. With the lens on, the makeup was invisible on the skin and then, when the light changed gradually to normal, it appeared magically as dark makeup. It was usid in movies like Lon Chaney's Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde or the miracle of the leprosy in Ben-Hur (the old black and white version, not the Chartlon Heston one). The ingenuity of those talented makeup and FX artists was amazing. Of course, this worked because the movies were in black and white and all colours appeared as shadows of grey, but I wonder if something similar could be achieved with those lenses in colour video.

They only work with 3D TVs with passive screens (Lg, Philips…) you can find tons of used old 3D TVs (active or passive) for 100-300$ 32-65” or twice if plasma or recent uhd. And you need real 3d content, on bluray 3D player or 3d videos on KZbin from true 3d camcorders, because the so called 2d to 3d function on TVs is a hoax and one if not the main reason of 3d failure.

You need a 3D TV or 3D ready projector, then all Blu-ray 3D players are ok. You can find tons of old used 3D TVs for 200-300$ 32-65” FHD or twice if plasma, or recent uhd models.

Use 2 pairs of the glass with out taking off the lenses and look through them you can see one side gets dark will the other side dose not and then flip it 😅,, put on one pair and look at the other the flip the pair you have on and look at the other one. Best when looking at a screen but regular light looks kool too😅😊
