Why would ANYONE pay $1000 for a dog that was inbred and had potential health issues? Why wasn't the plaintiff very clear with the defendant and her daughter on HOW exactly the dog was inbred and the health issues. Obviously, if the puppy's intestines were twisted, that is a possible genetic defect. That's not something that just pops up overnight. The defendant could have gone down to the local animal shelter and purchased a dog for $50.

You have a fair point, but as a rescuer and someone whose had bad experiences with shelters it’s not as easy as walking in and picking a puppy. Shelters sometimes ask for to much. They want you to live within distance of a vet, be friends with a vet, have a doggy room, the garden of Eden in your back yard. Etc etc etc. Breeders ask for applications, but it’s more or less a personality test on your part. As well as knowledge of the breed you’re getting. Poodle breeders won’t sell to you if you don’t know what it is to maintain their cost. Pug breeders won’t sell to you unless you know and are in someway prepared for the constant vet visits. Etc etc.

StaceyMilo2011 No, she isn't. Judge Judy used to deal with child abuse cases and family law cases. She was approached to do the tv show and she jumped at it because she was tired of all the abuse cases. This Judge did not have to deal with that. So, no. She will not end up like Judge Judy. By the way Judge Judy is a good Judge. You just forget that Judge Judy and this Judge get the cases, read them and do a bit of research BEFORE seeing the Plaintiffs and Defendants. So they are able to know what is going on and if one or both people are lying. That is why this Judge brought up that what the Defendant said in the papers was different than what she was saying in court. It’s in the best interest of dogs to not be altered unless medically or behaviorally necessary, But premature spay/neuter(before the age of 18 months to 24 months) actually causes a ton of damage, stunts a dog’s natural growth, females have a 1/4 chance of becoming incontinent, mammary and bone cancer rates rise, and literally so much more. Do the research. It’s absolutely best to spay/neuter at 2 years old if at all.

I prefer adoption if you are looking to give a fur baby a forever home. I also get the idea of someone seeking out a specific breed of dog from a conscience, responsible and conscience breeder. The vast majority of dogs have potential genetic problems that the chances of those problems arising are greatly increased by inbreeding. The suffering that this puppy endured can't be remedied in court though nor will it bring that puppy back. I did not really feel the strong emotions that are evident when someone loses a fur baby. That made me sad, it was heartbreaking that the puppy suffered so egregiously.

Some people choose not to neuter dogs with health issues at all because when you neuter you take away all their good to hormones to live and thrive. Waiting till the recomend medical time was the the least the defendant could do for a dog with health issues / potentially health issues in the future. My boss's dog had to have a surgery for that (before the intestines got twisted or whatever) because they told her it was likely to happen since he's very active, he's an Australian Shepherd. So scary for the poor doggies!

You are 100٪ correct! Why would inbreeding be an issue for an ethical breeder?
@ninjadogs33893 жыл бұрын
@@Play4keeks Exactly if she were an ethical breeder and were breeding dogs that had a family history of healthy dogs with no genetic issues then inbreeding is actually safer then breeding unrelated individuals. I a line has no genetic issues you can safely say that breeding within the family wont lead to any surprising genetic outcomes from recessive genes. In breeding just any dog should never be done though, you have to know the whole family history and health of the family of the dam and sire who will be breeding.

Everyone is pushing shelter dogs in the comments, and that’s great, I totally agree. My first puppy I adopted when I was out on my own was from a shelter. I had him a week and he started having seizures. Took him to the vet: distemper. Had to put him down. It was heartbreaking. Turns out the shelter was knowingly adopting out dogs and cats who had parvovirus and distemper. I contacted the local media who did an investigation and the shelter got shut down. The experience was so awful though, so 6 months later I adopted a puppy from a breeder. We just put him down last year after he lived a long and happy 18 years. We’re not planning on getting another dog any time soon, but we’re sure our daughter will want one when she’s older (she’s 3), and if she does we’ll go to the shelter. So please don’t be too harsh on people who get dogs from breeders. Sometimes they have a very good reason.

Before people on this show make comments and judgements they should speak to an expert instead of what their opinion is. 🤷🏼♀️ New research is showing giant breed dogs need to wait until they are finished growing to be neutered which would be around 18 months to 2 years. This is also not a condition that comes from inbreeding, this happens to lord and lots of dogs specifically large breed barrel chested breeds. There are guidelines a LOT of breeders have about being able to breed or not breed, fix or not fix. This would have been a good one for judge Judy who knows a lot about breeding and dogs. On a different subject, she should not be breeding dogs if she can’t stop them from inbreeding.

A Mastiff is a large dog breed . For large dogs that are very prone to orthopedic injury/diseases we now recommend waiting to neuter until 9-18 months of age.

Neither of them should be having dogs or breeding dogs. The plaintiff's dogs are inbred and have mange and the defendant neutered the dog too early despite being told not to. Those poor dogs. Shame on them.
@Shaikhofilm3 жыл бұрын
This case was definitely based on spite- hatred between the litigants, not anything legitimate. In the previous litigation, warranty is different from guarantee. The plaintiff could have refused to do anything, and then if she lost, would have to give her a replacement, which she is willing to do in the first place.
@DonziGT2309 ай бұрын
The "no neutering" condition lends evidence toward the accusation that the plaintiff wanted to have breeding rights to the dog, otherwise there would be no reason to put that condition on the deal.

True, but I think I understand where she's coming from. She already lost the puppy, paid all those vet bills on a dog that died, and lost her case against the Plaintiff. The reason for the 18 month desex could be because there was in fact a breeding clause, hence the lawsuit. The only possible way the plaintiff is damaged is because she couldn’t get another inbred litter from the defendant. How is that not a point of contention for the judge?
@dbabies823 жыл бұрын
You're not making any sense... You want larger breeds to be spayed/neutered at over 18 months old because altering them early can cause severe joint problems and diseases... So issues concerning hips, patellas, knees, etc can effect them early on. By simply waiting, you help eliminate early onset of certain conditions. The breeder knows this so told them to wait before altering. And inbreeding means breeding between 2 siblings or between a parent and child. If they had the dog, there wouldn't be more inbreeding.
@wooddome873 жыл бұрын
I don’t know how my comment “makes no sense”. I wasn’t advocating for any of that merely offering a theory. What you stated doesn’t address the issue I raised of how the plaintiff is damaged. And if the defendant’s dog were to breed with one of the plaintiff’s dogs then there would be a very high chance of inbreeding. It doesn’t seem like she gives a you know what about the gene pool in her dogs....ya know?

The desex was performed on the first dog, which was not alleged by either party to have retained breeding rights.

@eddiesaviary.com There should be no dog breeders.
@ninjadogs33893 жыл бұрын
@@greener336 Then there would be eventually no dogs, a correction to what you said should be there should be no irresponsible dog breeders. w/o dog breeders there would be no reliable working dogs, such as police k9s, seeing eye dogs, assistant dogs, dogs that can smell for disease, search and rescue dogs. not all dogs in shelters are cut out for these jobs, and it costs a lot of money to raise and train dogs for these, would be a shame to put that money into the dog for them to fail their test to see if they can graduate to being a working dog.

18 months to neuter is ludicrous. Six months is the absolute norm and a vet wouldn’t do the surgery if it wasn’t appropriate.

I've had several Great Danes which are comparable in size to Mastiff's. NO vet around here will spay or neuter until they're at least 12 months old.
