Here's an idea: you play by these rules for a pre-determined amount of time (lets say 1 h). When you find a shiny, only the player that found the shiny restarts the game. In the end... the player that is the furthest in the game wins.

A rule i'd add to this, if you wanna see who can beat the game first, is that every pokecenter can be a checkpoint, but you can't save twice in a row at the same pokecenter to save progress, and when flying becomes available all pokecenters have 1 checkpoint save, so you have to strategically use them if you wanna save progress past that point

I once found a shiny piloswine but no one on my team had false swipe So I had my lowest team member attack (Piloswine LV. 60 and My lowest team member, a Toxtricity, LV. 53) I attacked thinking I would only damage it partially but then I got a crit... REEEEEEEEEEEE!!!>:(

@@giantskeleton2 That sucks, man. I always have Pokémon on my team, that have "catching" moves. Thunder Wave, Spore, False Swipe, anything like that. As for balls, Quick Balls, Dusk Balls and Repeat Balls are my favorites. Almost all of my dexes are filled, so Repeat Balls are life savers, if it's not nighttime and my Quick Ball failed. Though, my team is lvl 100, and I'm always careful with the moves I use, seeing how someone lost a shiny that was higher level than their attacker makes me cringe. Crits can be assholes.

Considering the odds are 1/100 in these, that little stunt you pulled at 14:06 was more rare than getting an actual 1/8192 shiny. 1/100 (shiny bulba) x 1/100 (shiny squirt) = 1/10000 double shiny starter

This is actually a really funny idea for an actual "competitive" playthrough. Just like how your Black & White Metronome Nuzlockes were scored by death points where the loser was the one with the most points at the end of the game, you could use the same idea here except the loser is the one who finds the most shinies by the end of the game. I'd TOTALLY watch that playthrough. It could lead to some hilarious reactions.

the thing where you go into your menu is for those spinner trainers, it allows you to slip past without them noticing, but i think you gotta go in your bag or something. to avoid encounters in tall grass i think the speedruns have done rng manipulation
