If you have Adobe Premiere you can use the new AI Audio enhancement feature. Can help a ton with audio like this. You can do it online without Premiere, but much more annoying process. I'm not sure if Final Cut has something similar.

Copper primer in general is better in welding just from using simple logic, copper is one of the best conductors of heat.. thats why it was used for little electric heaters and ovens..
@robertmesea
@robertmesea 4 ай бұрын
New idea to try: Instead of having the tungsten protrude from the top of the cup maybe have it a lil' bit recessed into the cup so that you don't accidentally dip in the puddle. (On the topic of rust prevention, you could always minimize the grind area to 1² Inch and apply copper primer to that instead of having the whole edge of the panel in copper primer )
@nikolaiylimys5250
@nikolaiylimys5250 4 ай бұрын
You could also modify one cup to be an offset jig for the tip so that the distance from tip to metal would be always consistent when you press the cup straight to the metal.

I just got the same PrimeWeld TIG and can't wait to dig in with it! Cool technique here. I hadn't really thought of it, but makes sense in theory. You're basically melting the top layer into a molten pool then the second layer starts to melt and the two are fused together. Only issue I'm potentially seeing is it may create a low spot around the weld puddle which is slightly weaker? I would suspect the same issue exists with rosette welds and possibly spot welds too. No matter what should be plenty strong. Would be cool to see you do 6 identical welds with this method and compare the strength somehow. 3 TIG welds and 3 rosette welds. 1 of each with no primer, zinc primer, copper primer. Could be a cool evergreen video that doesn't take too long to make. This technique is def faster than plug welding too. As far as copper primer causing rust, galvanic corrosion can't happen in the absence of humidity. So, like you said the important part is rust proofing beyond that in the first place to prevent moisture incursion.

For the tig welding a stuby cup is always your best friend and always sharpen the tungsten for steel it will concentrate the weld to one spot if it’s blunt it will go all over the place and hard to control. Hope this helps

The welding technique works well when there’s no gap on two flat pieces clamped together but as soon as there’s any gap and I mean any gap you will blow through the side the gaps on and things get messy. Not saying don’t do it but you need to clamp that shit down hard.

Bro. If we are doing mig or tig on my car (and we have) you must remove any zinc before welding. You cant weld through zinc for a shit!. We remove the zinc, wipe the area down with acetone and wipe down the welding rod before welding. You spot welding throgh the copper is perfect. Great job🎉😊

Watch the heat affected zone. You will cook the flange and burn off the copper. Resistance spot welding won't get so hot and is better for speed and neatness.

@DNightNinja

Honestly, I was going to recommend 3m panel bond if you weren’t able to weld at all and wanted to make sure it stuck. The stuff is amazing and the way I’ve used it all over my car build was in non structural places that were already spot welded that I did not want to stitch weld. Essentially I used this as seam sealer where the spot welds were. Problem is it would have to be bare metal and sanded as if it were prepped for welding with zero primer but on the bright side the stuff is super strong and I know Mercedes uses it in their dealerships a lot instead of welding. Some people attach entire fiberglass truck beds to the rails with this stuff Not a good idea for structural situations tho as I said and if it’s already spot welded it makes a good “seam sealer” or a good “stitch weld” But as far as the tig welder goes if it works well go for it. There’s a video on KZbin actually of a guy using the stuff to “stitch weld” his chassis if you want to see what I’m talking about and it works. Well too.
@DNightNinja
@DNightNinja 4 ай бұрын
Numbers wise iirc the strength of the adhesive is like 4000 psi/sq.in adhesion strength but you’d have to double check that. Works great for non metal to metal adhesion as well.

Use a spot welder and do it properly. You've come too far to cheap out on it. A spot welder clamps the sheets together and gives a consistent and localized weld. Using the TIG spreads the heat out more, damaging the coating, and there is potentially/likely a gap... so unprotected metal that may get moisture in there... and RUST

DO NOT USE RUBBER UNDERCOATING PLEASE!!! It will degrade over time and trap water between the undercoating and the chassis, creating a huge rust problem!
