@@TomoFujitaMusic Thank you Tomo- I can always watch one of your videos and learn something. I learned about the rope and the speed bag from Bobo Olson he was heavyweight champion of the world at 32 years old. He taught me about training. Also walking is very good for rhythm-keep your first and your third on your right foot and your two and your four on your left foot. I grew up in 16 track recording Studio. Sometimes bands would do what is called the musician's walk. The whole band goes for a walk together and they all start out on the right foot. It's a timing exercise. Count the measures.

Thanks so much! Good job! Then you need to know more details with intervals. More specific to understand what you are hearing in your head and its time to organize.... I know what you're going through... That's what I teach!! I teach much more detail video lessons (more theory lessons!) at my Guitar Wisdom site. @@TomoFujitaMusic thank you, that is a good advise to put what you are playing from your head into a system an decide which chords fit, you know, i needed to remind myself of that, and i got to say its so cool to see a amazing rythm guitar player for once, i have played rythem/ fingerstyle folk style guitar playing for years and everyone i know who started the same time as me wanted to play lead with van halen solos and stuff, but very inspirational to see someone take both things equaly as serious.

Hi Tomo. I read in your free advice page that "memorizing licks or playing up and down two-octave scales for an hour is not the best use of your practice time". But my doubt is this: how can we jam without having the scales in mind? I think it is important while playing. What do you think?

@@TomoFujitaMusic So we need to know every chords and scales position to improve our soloing, right?
@JuicyLeek4 жыл бұрын
I think he means that memorizing licks for an hour or playing scales for an hour is not the best use of your practice time. A lot of guitar learners, especially the younger ones, just want to memorize solos and play them real fast like a badass. I think the point here is that this will make you a one-trick pony but not a great guitar player.

Are the Berklee modern method for guitar books 1, 2 and 3 a good place to develop technique and musicality?
@TomoFujitaMusic4 жыл бұрын
There are many ways of learning guitar. Those were supplement for teaching at Berklee so it's effective that if you use Volume ONE with a teacher. Without a teacher, no idea how to decide whether you're doing proper or not. I can recommend to check my Guitar Wisdom.

honestly man..after playing for 3 months, the thing I have realised is that human brain doesnt want to leave the comfort zone or try anything its not good at currently.It also overestimates the difficulty of such tasks. I felt I wont be able to switch chords, ply barre chords, finger pick and yes use the pinky ever. But, I stuck through it and all of them seem natural to me. Dont even have to think about them. And I can even play really weird shapes now. So keep trying..keep playing. Dont miss a day and you are golden my friend.

2/4 time signature means 2 quarter notes for every bar. Most music is written in common time which is 4/4 (1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 etc), 2/4 time signature is half the length of 4/4 (1 2 1 2 etc.)

This lesson about routine practice is invaluable, thanks Tomo. It would be great to have your book in English; I would buy it, since I learn and retain more from reading. Can you ask your publisher to do an english edition? I know that there isn't that much to read, but I bet your little tips here and there are useful and an integral part of the teachings. Cheers and keep doing the good work!
