I wasn't diagnosed with T2D, but I believe I was. WAS. I don't think I am anymore. I have my blood test results since 2018. in 2018 my fasting glucose was 80. In 2019 it was 95. When I started keto and got my own blood glucose meter it ranged from 105-110. So not astronomically high, but higher than it should be. And a definite trend upwards. Now after being on keto for several months it tends to be 90-95. I don't think my doc ran enough tests. And my father and grandfather had T1D.

I am T2D but have been doing Keto/Carnivore for a while now. Perhaps I am finally seeing some positive results in reversing my condition. My A1C however had gone up from a previous 5.7 to now 5.8.

The only thing he wanted to do was put me on statins because my LDL was 101 and he said that 100 was the max. My HDL and triglycerides were excellent, and total cholesterol was 186. To be honest, I don't see the point of paying for these test in your case. The reason for testing is identifying the problem, which you already did based on the information you found here. And, you are already making changes in the right direction, whose results are already showing up. The only way these test could be helpful is if they give reason to your doctor to prescribe you some useful medicine (like metformin), which would make things a little easier and faster for you, but without an insurance this will be costly for you, and the main changes you needed to do, you are already doing them. So IMHO you'd better save that money, or spend it in key quality food like pasture raised eggs, grass fed butter, or salmon, which will make a bigger difference in your health. Apart from keto, I'd suggest you to try intermittent fasting too (plenty of videos about it in YT, search for Jason Fung presentations, and Sten Ekberg videos). IF and keto work great together, I lost 77 lb in 7 months with those (and walking, and making sure I properly sleep, and taking metformin).

A high fructose diet can do that, Fruit is in some cases much more dangerous than coke, as people know coke is bad and will usually limit the thing. But too much people think fruit is healthy and will eat a shitload of it thinking it's good. (it's better than coke, as it also provide some micronutrients, but choosing between 70g of sugar from 3 bananas or 20g from a glass of coke, I will choose the glass of coke).

Yet, diabetes is rampant in our family and several of our family members passed away due its complications. Being slender did not offer us the protection that often is assumed slim people have against diabetes. My husband's past doctor told him for years that he was borderline. In fact he was way closer than borderline. He was on Metformin and because he was under 7 for his A1C, he was told he was good. He was admitted to the hospital for pulmonary edema and was found to have an A1C over 10 ( I think it was 13 but I cannot remember for sure). He was started on insulin and given a 'nutritionist counseling" which told him it was fine for him to have pasta and bread because he could take his insulin and keep his blood sugar down. I was livid because I knew this was not what he needed and definitely not what he needed to hear. He trusted that person. We went to his primary care and he recommended KETO. As I researched I realized that he probably had pulmonary edema due to so much insulin and sugar floating around in his blood that was holding onto fluid. He was taking 80mg of lasix daily to keep the fluid down. Since going on KETO he has come off of insulin and only takes Victoza. He takes a lasix for CHF about 2 times per week. Before this started he was on oxygen full time and he no longer is on it. He needs to work harder, he "cheats" whenever he can...lol but he is making the connection between what he eats and how he feels and is working daily on making better choices for himself.

@@67polara it's possible I had breathing issues (which essentially makes you be stressed as you try to sleep), but I doubt it's the case anymore. I lost 77 lb since I was diagnosed, my sleep is a lot better, and my last blood test showed a huge improvement regarding glucose. Fasting BG 86, A1c 5.2. I'm on the right track now. I owe one to my doctor. My causes are clear, lots of stress at work, sedentary life (little spare time and energy), poor and little sleeping (working long hours and difficulty to relax and fall sleep), and eating too many carbs (lots of juice, lots of skim milk, bread, rice, pasta). Not too many calories really, so I had no idea why I gained weight, but really bad insulin impact (which I know now, not then).

If what JYAN2852 said does not work, go to your patient advocate in the medical practice where they work (all medical groups have one). Say you want to see a doc that will order the test, because your doc doesn't want to, and you will pay out of pocket if needed. They will ask why. Say you believe it will be helpful for you because worry is causing you distress, and to know for sure will help. Once you say it's causing you psychological issues, it becomes medically necessary (at least in the States). If that doesn't work, make sure you have them document all THAT as well! Just you forcing them to document it may turn the tide. If all that fails you need a new doc anyway. Can the bugger and good riddance!

Mary Tyler Moore was a diabetic and she was never overweight! We must get away from the notion that fast, processed, easy meals are a viable replacement for home cooked meals! Even if you are not eating healthy home cooked is still better because you know what is going in your food! Going out to eat used to be considered a treat, something the family did maybe once a week or even once a month or like in my case once a year when we went on vacation because there was no fast food joint within 50 miles from where I grew up! We need to take an active role in preserving our health, I am so grateful we have Dr. Berry to help!

I treat myself as a prediabetic only because I am older and obese from a few years of prescribed macrobiotic vegetarian diet that doubled my weight. My blood tests are normal, including the cpeptide. But...I feel it is not. On Keto for 11 months and lately my fasting glucose was elevated to over 6.0 but lowers with my omad to a nice 5.4 or so. Did several long fastings of 3 and 5 days and it begun to lower again, meaning my damaged and fatty liver and pancreas have cleanse themselves enough to improve their efficiency. Not there yet, but will continue to fast at least a 5 day per month until I can do a 21 to 30 days.... still waiting for any weight loss though...💔😰🤬

Internet suggests 40 - 45% humidity level is ideal. Mucus membranes are the body’s first defense as mucus traps viruses. If your membranes dry it affords opportunity to imbed into your nasal/oral/ throat and eyes. Wish there were videos explaining how important it is to have ideal humidity in the home.

That would be great if Quest Labs had a site anywhere in my state that would do more than collect urine samples for drug testing. The Quest Lab prices are affordable. The out of pocket prices at my clinic are not and insurance doesn’t cover these labs. They will cover a FBS but not a HgBA1C because my FBS is normal. They don’t cover a C-Peptide at all. I requested these labs after watching a previous video about this - they did the FBS then refused to cover an A1C because the FBS was normal. So if your insurance won’t cover them and you can’t afford hundreds of dollars out of pocket and don’t have a Quest Lab near you or in your state that does more than drug testing then you can’t get these tests.
