WRT color the only thing that matters is the color of the under belly up to the point where the frog floats and the rubber skirt. Unless someone wants to argue that bass have developed X-ray vision they can’t see what the top of the bait looks like so that is irreverent. Those frogs with green backs that look like, well frogs, are pretty funny …

Color don’t mean shit top water is a reaction bite get it right

I remember a video a while back that you boil your frogs before using to loosen up the plastic, do you still do this?
@CWR3212 Жыл бұрын
Another good video. And again I like how you use the rod to give us a basic starting point of how to work the lure you don't have to give us all the juice but it's a starting point we can catch fish with gain confidence and expand on it ourself 👍

Hey Randy, what do you do when the weight button falls off your frog 🐸. I have 4 or 5 frogs that lost the button while I was fishing 🎣them?😮
@majtx Жыл бұрын
I guess I don't understand why the color of a frog has a correlation to the color of a perch bait fish. What are we matching here? I also seem to agree that the underside of the frog would be the most critical color-factor, hence the choice of darks, or lights, or translucent, but not the color perch. Perhaps matching this color in the Ozarks critical. IF so, it seems this would open up pandora's box on color selection based on locale.

I only use 20 -25 pound test Berkley big game dark green , heavy action rod , 7’2 to 3” full cork handle rod 7 to 1 shimano Chronarch and I can turn 5 pounders out of heaviest vegetation , coon tail and water hiasins , and I turn em belly up and sky em to the boat on top of the heavy topped out coon tail

I caught so many bass when the Moss Frog came out way back when. Miss beds and pads were the hot spots. Recently got a Lunkerhunt frog. First hour caught over 30 bass! Stop and go with it acts like a real frog.

Thanks Randy for the seminar style lessons. You created another very informative and well laid out presentation from the new tackle room. I think the new room has upped your game! It’s got that fishing feel with the colors and boxes- and the trophies set it off. Appreciate the rod technique demos too!

Great video. Love the new tackle room. What’s your thought on split ring and or snap with frogs. Tie direct to frog? Spit ring? Split ring and snap?? What you think?? Keep them coming
@fishing4big1s Жыл бұрын
Snaps are a weak link. Always tie direct.
@MrHabitat009 Жыл бұрын
I will use a snap when I’m going between a Poppin frog or a walking frog.
@matthewwoodard9810 Жыл бұрын
If you use the right snap, it’s the strongest part of the setup. They have tiny snaps now that are rated up to 100-150#

Yeah Randy, frog fishing is my favorite. Gotta say that I prefer the Spro Poppin frog over the MegaBass frog you mentioned. Funny, I have no problem walking the Spro poppin frog and I feel it is super versatile.
@danbasara4547 Жыл бұрын
I agree, but I do bend the hooks out on the Spro bc the are super tight to the plastic out of the package. The plastic is also very rigid so I boil them too. They are super user friendly though in the water and get bit for sure!

Good Video , I understand your use of Megabass products. One of your main sponsors. Megabass makes great jerkbaits but almost no one is using Megabass Frogs Spro dominants the frog industry . Btw did your views go up when Ben made fun you yesterday? I told people that there is nothing better than a big player recognizing you lol…. Your popularity will only rise when the Swindles and the Ben’s talk about you Good or bad !

Well you fish California much? I watch some channels on KZbin but most are based in the south or Midwest. I’m in California so I would imagine fish act different in a lot of cases

Got that frog in the throat. LOL. Already subscribe in the today's lesson but just wanted to add an oddity I once ran into. My buddy I always take out, bought a cheap frog that almost looked like a toy with a single weedless hook. Well his first cast out, hairballs the reel and it sits only 15 foot out. Picking out his mess and the frog is motionless out in the open, it gets bit. Damnedest thing I ever saw. That buck must have just been swimming open water.
@andrewbickel14505 ай бұрын
Randy, i disagree on your color explaination. Here's why, science has reveled that LM Bass have cones in their eyes that see only red and green . Yellows, bright chartuses appear as white to bass , they do not see blue as we do . They do see different shadings in color changes but not as we do as humans. A yellow frog appears the same as a white frog to a bass. So any color is good as long as it's black period . This will produce consistently in any condition. The determining factor in frogs is size and profile rather than color as well as action imparted be it slow or fast or somewhere in-between! Why ? Think match the hatch as in fly fishing a trout can tell the difference in millimeters of a fly floating on the water in current and this will dictate a strike much more often than a correctly colored fly of the wrong size. " Just sayn" i fish frogs only all season for bass out of a yac . Thanks for sharing your content Randy . Respectfully AKA The Frogman
