These recruitment events have the best account rewards in the game. Better than 100 lock box keys. A bit of an annoyance to grind but you can reference guides to minimize the pain.

Also keep your recruit characters as when the events come again they will add things you can pick up on that same character without having to start over. I found that I had instantly completed some tasks prior to the revamped event, and that's a nice feeling.

For character slots, my understanding is they increase the number of free character slots only with the first run of a recruitment event, not on reruns.

Cryptic has been adding a new character slot for each event that has been ran. So far I have quite a few free slots since they are adding them for reruns of the events.

Reaching level 60 you get 250 of each reputation mark and if you wait untill bonus mark event to claim you get even more :)

I know this was months ago but really have to thank you for this info. I just got back into playing recently and back when the TOS characters were first introduced I rolled one and never finished the tutorial. After I got back into playing I was on the verge of deleting the TOS toon when I came across this video. I wasn't sure at the time if it was made during one of these events but sure enough I finished the intro and there was the temporal recruit item in my inventory. This has made a huge difference on my account and have been playing this character heavily now trying to unlock everything. Thanks again!

As much as I dread doing another character I guess I'll have to do this one for the Rep Upgrade. One thing that does help with new Toons is, your purchased ships are available to the 'New Guy'. You don't die as quickly or often.

Stock up on rep/fleet mark boosts, expertise boosts to complete duty officer requirements, specialization points to get those knocked out, and find a good guide online.

I remember when this event first started way back in the day and I saw that all of the rep gear was Level 13 ultra rare; it was crazy. Eight more alts later and I'm still getting benefits from my Temporal. Also yes, new recruit events when run the first time also provided an additional character slot.

I either wasn't paying attention to the vid or didn't read the transponder correctly. I had a few pleasant surprises this morning. 1.) I reached Tier 5 in every reputation at the same time on my Temp Op recruit, didn't really plan that. Thought it was cool! 2) The Ultra Rare MK III equipment is everything (sans KM's), I thought it was just weapons. 3.) This was the nicest surprise. The Ultra Rare MK III reward unlocks on every toon, and it doesn't matter what tier level. Thanks Cryptic for the present! I get the reward ship tomorrow, that will be fun. Time to buy some rep gear, or maybe work on my very, very sad Science-Space Wizard. Probably need to re-watch some of MCStu's vids😀

The 'fun' part of being a Temporal Recruit is finding all the temporal probes. You should get a mission prompt alerting you to the fact that there is one to be found during the mission, but it won't tell you where it is, the probes will not show up on your radar, nor can you scan for them. You have to search the map. And, I believe - don't quote me on this, that Cryptic has moved locations of the probes since they did this back in 2016. Or it could be that I'm mixing up locations between Delta and Temporal.... Anyways, scan your maps, look for odd stuff, find the probes. And then solve the puzzles to unlock them. Yeah, that part. This is the only Recruit event where you have to puzzle solve to unlock the thing you need. Edit: Just learned that there is a command that may help locate the probes: /target temporal probes Give it a try, folks.

I did the Temporal Recruit when I got laid off back in June. Leveled him in about a four to six weeks. So, when this came out I just passed on it. I have enough toons where I am not grinding them all out as it is. I just got two of them finally mostly through the rep systems minus ship tokens on a couple. Those will go into background so I can work the the Temporal Recruit and the Jem'har who have been just grinding on fleet, Duty officers and R&D. The two that will be in the background I will work on fleet and grinding out rep gear which is quite painful as well.

I was lucky enough to partake in the first TAR back in 2016. I'm glad they brought it back. I'm also glad they revamped some of it to make it more fresh. Though, they did remove a lot of content it's still worth the extra bonuses.

The different reward packs alone are worth it, help tremendously for new beginners as they give tons of EC, dil, marks, equipment and resources which make leveling so much more comfortable from the start. And all one must do is to find the temporal probes in most story missions and solve their annoying little riddles. Still totally worth it IMHO.

I am using the Risian event ship with this new toon, and when I setup the stations, the universal had seat Temporal albites defaulted and they worked, even though I haven't unlocked specializations, a bug? I was enjoying and following the progression, had to stop when I hit 'The Vault' . That mission is almost as infuriating as the click on every NPC in the room missions.

Already had a TOS Temporal Recruit on my account but still rolled a fresh one this time around to get to Tier 6 on 1 rep for an extra Experimental Ship Upgrade The "new" toon will be deleted after getting the upgrade token and using it. May take a while to get to that point but for playing free these days any of the upgrade tokens I can get without paying will help get all the ships I use on my various toons upgraded nicely.

re: free recruit slots You technically already have it, the recruit slots they give out during recruitment events are added to the slots that a new account has access to so if you create an account after that Recruitment then you would have access to more initial character slots than someone who created their account before it. I hope I explained that properly

On the surface these rewards appear to be the most useful of all the recruits I currently have. Every toon I have uses items from the rep system, and as you mentioned, would've save lots of time & resources with many items starting both 1 level & tier higher. Shame I missed the Jem'Hadar event.

They gave a character slot when the Recruits originally came out and that became the default amount every account gets. It was originally 5 now it's 9 I think. 1 for each recruit they've done.

Cryptic gives a free character slot ONLY during the initial recruitment event. Re-runs don't get another free character slot. So there's been: Temporal, Delta, Gamma, & KDF so Cryptic has given (4) free character slots so far for these recruitment events.

If this event had been the first of the cycle of recruitment events, it would have been useful for all of the other recruitment event characters. As is, I have pretty much maxed out all the permanent characters on my account, making the big draw for this event pretty insignificant. Now, if I were just kicking off an account or only had a character or two, this would be a solid foundation to build upon. All that said, I did roll Temporal Recruit on both my main and F2P accounts. I've gotten them both to the point where you get the little recruit doohickey. I enjoyed the story content through the TOS-era. Haven't gotten to any story content beyond that but it's all familiar anyway. Having an era appropriate ship would have been nice and this is where I think Cryptic could have done us a solid. If they would have made the Level 10 award unlock the Pioneer-class to be a "limited" T6, like the Klingon Recruit BoP, it would have been a really nice touch. It's really more of an unfilled wish than a full-on gripe though. I have more ships than I can shake a stick at and, for my Main account, enough Dil to buy each Temporal ship while leveling. I'll be fine with that. Being as I've not unlocked any other awards yet, that's where I'll close.

Got my temporal recruit the first time around, was hoping they'd add a tos klingon option but nvm it's a skip for me as got 3 gamma recruits, 1 klingon recruit, 2 delta recruits and the 1 temporal plus a lot of other alts at max. And there are a few new things to do on my old temporal recruit plus still way off completing my main gamma recruit 100% so it's not like I'm not busy 🙃

You only get a free slot for the first time they run a new recruit event. So we just got a free slot for the Klingon Recruit. The Delta Recruit rerun didn't give one.

I am a new player and stumbled into this by rolling an Original Series character just for nostalgia purposes. I have two questions... 1. Is this time-sensitive... ie. Do I need to get this character to max level before Oct 7th? 2. Does it make sense to create a few characters and level them to 10 in the TOS era so that I can use them later as mules for dil exchange/missions, etc? Many thanks. To get your transponder, yes it is time sensitive. You must get through all the TOS missions, get to the future, and finish the mission that has you exploring esd and talking to admiral quinn. It doesn't need to get to max level, you just need that transponder and it's not awarded until that mission.

Ashendal is correct, all you have to do is get the TOS character and get its Temporal Transponder by the 7th. Once you have the Transponder (which is what makes it a temporal recruit) you can come back to it at any time and finish leveling and getting the rewards. At a minimum you need the transponder before the 7th.

fun fact, i found a temporal probe on nimbus 3 that doesnt seem to belong to any of the objectives in the transponder. it just seems to be an extra one.

Those are from the first run. There are probes in the nimbus, breen, and the 2800 arcs. Since those mission arcs were removed from the mission journal they were removed from the transponder as being required but they still show up in the missions.

Not on this recruit event. It is on some of the other types of recruit event like Delta Recruits as there are different rewards and acct rewards for different factions. But on this event you can only make a TOS recruit, so no need for more then one.

Is there any advantage to running science over tactical for this event?

The differences between the class/professions is in what abilities and kit modules are available. So it's largely a matter of preference or goal. Personally I find science to be crazy strong on ground with a large number of area of effect abilities, and very different to play effectively in space, while tactical is just boring everywhere. Tactical does have space abilities that are optimized for DPS so if you are chasing those fractional percentages for maximum DPS performance that is something to consider. Also there are the "secret" class/profession abilities which are small unlisted boosts to various skills and abilities that each enjoys to the exclusion of the others and have never been codified or explained.

You’ll have to look at the rewards for them and decide if they’re worth your while. You can always go back and replay the missions to find them.

If this is a pre-existing temp recruited the new arc rewards should be added to it. I would join the discord (link in the description) and ask there. With a little more detail we can get you a good answer for your problem.

Temporal probe locations. No one cares about "what this is" or "how you start one" that is self explanatory. What is NEEDED is a guide to the probe locations. Reddit and the forums only give generals they aren't specific and don't show screenshots. So explicit instructions on each probe and where to find it would be nice.

I have been on the fence about playing again, but the temporal recruitment won me over…. INSTANT REGRET. It’s frustrating because this game could be so good. But it’s not. Re-learning the seemingly dozens of currencies and how to use them is not good gameplay. I was pushing through that unfun beginner phase but was met with a game breaking bug in one of the first few missions. Reloading the character didn’t work. Restarting the game didn’t work. Restarting my computer didn’t work. Seriously fuck this game and the devs who won’t fix it. I’m over it.

The game isn't that hard you can just set your weapon fire to auto just right click on the attack icon. When it lights up green that will show it is on auto fire. This helped me out a ton when working on this TOS character.
