After reading the comments, a lot of people are completely missing the point. Once you start messing with your rig, it starts the long road of upgrading this and that to compensate for what you just did. Stock: your spare tire is fine underneath. Upgrade wheels/tires: now it won't fit underneath. Cheapest and dumbest: Don't have a spare, just a repair kit and air compressor. 2) Throw the spare in the bed of truck and let it get toss around or ratchet it down somehow. 3) stick in on your roofrack. I have done this on my Land Cruiser with an 85.00 Rhino Rack bracket. Now its top heavy and takes up a lot of space up there. Next is the hitch method. This system meets the NEEDS and niche between the first 3 and a full on bumper. You can always say, well for just a few more hundred....it never ends. I thought the Wilco was expensive as it only solved ONE problem. This one is double that but I get additional FLAT SPACE, a better latch system and puts the load lower down on my truck. The Rigd solves all the same problems that a FULL bumper would solve, but at a certain price point. I'd rather take the money from the full bumper and spend it elsewhere on my truck. To each his own. I'm about to do a full suspension job on my Cruiser and don't really want the hassle, extra cost, or weight of a rear bumper.

As soon as you start modifying a vehicle, it doesn't matter if it's a Ram 2500, Land Cruiser, or whatever; it's a never ending journey down an expensive road. Overlanding isn't for the faint of heart, or the shallow of pocket. It's just like you said too, every change will effect how the vehicle handles. I think RIGD figured it all out with this modular spare carrier.

It’s $1200 tire carrier. Spend a few hundred more and get an actual bumper with swing outs.
@boardskateguy4 жыл бұрын
Some people daily drive their trucks, this makes it even more weekend warrior. I'd pay extra to make it removable.
@AustinLWright4 жыл бұрын
TheEngineerGuy This is fair. But (1) these removable hitch swing outs have existed for years and for much less and (2) are folks really daily driving a built rig on 40’s?
@boardskateguy4 жыл бұрын
@@AustinLWright (1) I think this design is more of an example that has little to no play in the design allowing for a quiet, effective swing out that can be used in an offroad sense without the possibility of fatigue. (2) I can agree not a lot of people with 40's in and out of the city, but tons of 37's. What I see people paying for, is the fact that this is not a fixed system, as in you can remove it for a stock look and still use your tailgate on the day to day, but have the ability to carry a spare for the overland trip with the friends or family.
@ryanpetersen33773 жыл бұрын
It’s not a few hundred dollars... it’s like $2,000 more for a CBI or C4 Fab bumper. This is a hell of a bargain proposition if you also want to keep the overall factory appearance of your rig...

One plus side if you sell ur rig you can take if off an put it on ur new one saving the cost of getting a whole new bumper

The Ultra Swing doesn't have enough clearance on my 22 AEV Prospector XL. The 2 1/2" hitch on the Prospector does not project far enough out for the Ultra swing to clear the bumper. How did you get it to work with this Prospector?

@markstambaugh32737 ай бұрын
@@SwellRunner It won't fit on my 2022 Prospector if I want to use the safety pin which I do. The tubing on the rear bumper is preventing it. The holes in the hitch are .5 inch shy of lining up. Both companies have been aware for a year that this is a problem but neither are rushing to address it.

Seems like a good product but I have a few questions. Wouldn’t it block the view of the reverse camera? Does the LP need to be moved onto the mount to be visible? Does it block the sensors in the rear bumper? In this video it looks a little lower but I wonder if they still think something is there.

So I did purchase one with the high jack lift, table, but I am not sure if the molly panel comes with it. I like the modularity. Pull some bucks out of your bitcoin money pit because it's going to cost you over 2k. My rig is a Gladiator with 37s with a 2in lift. They told me I needed the Ultra. Might as well, I don't want to leave anything for these WOKE kids of mine (freaking new age hippies). So far the only downside has been the fulfillment process. You have to wait a month to get it. I will assume it is made to order. So much for Jeep Jam Pensacola, Fl this week. Now I can't go until I get it. I was at Jeep Beach in Daytona and was inspired by some of the rigs but many of them had "wooble wheels" on the back and had to drill for that ridiculous instability. I got almost 78k in this rig so I researched what I felt was the best of the best. Rigd made sense. My Jeep dealership wants to see it and has agreed to install it for free because they may promote it if it is as stable as advertised. At least I don't have to do the install.

$1200, screw that ill strap the tire down on the roof and deal with struggling getting it down kn the off chance you need it or deal with it taking up room in the bed. It is good its removable but if you take it off for daily use thats a heavy removal anyhow but you really dont need a 40 on a truck for anything youre doing. Stick with 35s and call it good
