Incredibly bold and ambitious from a new studio, and everything looks great. It takes inspiration from the best JRPGs but doesn't feel trapped in them, the developers obviously had a clear vision of what they wanted and it seems like they've created it. Right up there with Metaphor on my most anticipated RPG list.

EX33 is my game of 2025. This has to be one of the most original narratives i've ever heard of in the genre itself. Its goes a quick time action turned based combat, the music is emotional, the character designs are great, the art style is Dark Soulsborne like with a European French aesthetic. I haven't been this excited for a new IP in a long time!

@@cambotech5556 I’m gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and pretend you aren’t a Sony fan coping rn. Doom, Perfect Dark, Fable, Expedition 33, Gears, Starfield dlc that looks way better than the base game, and Indiana Jones looks better than the recent movies. South of Midnight needs to fix the framerate during cutscenes. Though, Nate seems to think they’re doing that intentionally for aesthetics. I can’t fathom why. It’s jarring. That game made by the Ukrainian studio looked pretty good too. I just don’t have an Xbox b/c there was never a reason.

@@10k-Noodles South of Midnight framerate is caused by an animation called "stop motion" yes, it is a thing. So it is intentionally, you have movies like Pinocchio from Netflix using this type of animation. I personally dont like that type of animation neither, but it has its fanbase and seems some ppl really like it.

@@nyanmaruunlocked399 I’m aware of stop motion. Just not in games. It’s so…weird. You go from the gameplay itself that seems smooth into a cutscene you assume would be more smooth and it looks like it’s 18 fps. If this was an artistic decision, I think they strongly need to reconaider.

When watched the Xbox direct and i heard the Nier Automata type of music along with the narrator explaining that twisted story... i knew something big was comming. I went from just watching the direct to pay 100% attention to it, then when the music hit and the combat begins... that feeling. Is long time since i have been so excited about a jrpg, I mean, the feeling of knowing that finally some developers are doing what FF "should have been" could make the jrpg genre get more attention, which means more games and more sales for all jrpgs. I really hope this sells well, im buying it day 1, doesnt matter if it gets bad reviews or whatever, ill support any company trying to get out a jrpg that is thinking out of the box.

Expedition 33 looks incredibly gorgeous and the music completely beautiful and the most important is of course the gameplay! Top notch it looks that it'll be super fun, definitely looking forward to it the most. JRPGs style combat continues to thrive even in western games. That's awesome to hear here's hoping more companies take notice and I hope this game becomes successful, and even release in Nintendo's next generation's console, I believe a game like this would sell incredibly well on a Nintendo hybrid console the most.

Expedition 33 was my game of the show as well!!! I could see the Persona flair in its combat system, very cool👌🏾 I give the show a solid ‘A’ as most everything impressed me. Doom looks slick, Perfect Dark has potential, and Fable is shaping up nicely. I don’t have a XBox so I’m glad Expedition 33 is multi platform. Great show!

Definitely will be checking this out. This is my favorite type of RPG gameplay - turned based with timed button presses (aka Paper Mario/ Mario and Luigi mechanics). Idk why more games don’t use this system - it automatically makes strategic turn based combat more engaging.

Expedition 33 does look cool. Its overall tone and aesthetic is intriguing. The big question mark is the devs since it’s a newly founded company. However, if it was founded by creditable developers from previously great companies then good chances, it will deliver. Great vid

The fights gameplay in Expedition 33 really impressed me and even more once I learned the studio is completely new (and french). I love it when a studio takes risks like that and will support them.

Out of all the games they showed at the Xbox Showcase, Expedition 33, Doom, & Perfect Dark was the ones that interested me the most. What's funny is that I never played any of the Perfect Dark games & I was a N64 kid growing up.

The presentation was too long and had too many CGI trailers to keep my interest, but the summary/highlights videos looked good. It reminded my of Nintendo 2013 WiiU presentation, when Nintendo was a bit desperate and showed off just about everything for the next several years. I didn't know Perfect Dark was supposed to be Perfect Dark until the end. It looked laughably generic. I'm not quite sure why Doom is now Quake, but it looked cool. Snake Eater again? At least, its not Sons of Liberty... I guess.

@@houragents5490 I think at this point, jrpg has gone beyond the geographical location it was developed. JRPG has now evolved into a specific genre. Typically, very story driven, little player choice. Often with a party to increase character development. It's more a style now. Japanese developers and do a western style RPG and it wouldn't be a jrpg and western developers can do a jrpg.

JRPG is commonly used to refer to a genre obviously attributed to Japanese developers, but that has inspired developers internationally since. I'm not saying it's the best label but that's what some people mean, it's better to go beyond a label and talk about the actual game.
