Throfinn spent 4 years on the farm, in those 4 years he suffered, he regretted his actions, he learned to be a farmer, he learned to be humble, and he learned to take the 1st action. After 4 years he has lost a friend, but also found a BROTHER, he has inspired many people and most importantly he has found a purpose. He is a real man and he is going back HOME.😭😭 BEAUTIFUL

well since I read the manga, thorfinn still got his nightmare in the future tho. thorfinn's past still can't be forgiven, he kills many people and remain pain for some people who related to victim. his nightmare will end when he pays off all his action in the past. the end in this season just about his planning the pay off. and the next season we will see his dedication to do that. thorfinn journey still continue

Canute and Thorfin compliment eachother amazingly. 4 years ago, Thorfin was the only person Canute opened up to. Times gone by and Thorfin is still the only person Canute opens up to. As seen in this episode, Thorfin wokeup without nightmares, Canute is happy with no signs of his father telling him what to do. Who knows what the future will bring right?

The feels I got from this episode were just amazing. Seeing just how much of a positive impact Thorfinn made on everyone he met on the farm from Olmar, Snake, Old Master, Pater and even on Canute, it's no wonder they all think of him as a one of a kind incredible man. The scene of Thorfinn and Einar by Arnheid's grave is one of the best scenes I've ever witnessed in any show given the deep context behind it. Also that special poem at the end of the episode was just beautiful. Perfect way to wrap up the farmland arc for every single character we saw in S2.

This episode was so masterfully done. I love it. I'm a manga reader (read 200 chapters) and i can say that Mappa took some creative liberties into really carving the story that fits into a cinematic experience. For example, they removed the part in the manga that shows thorfinn's face all swolen up. It was hilarious to see him talking to Olmar and Snake like that. Maybe they did that because that comedic scene wouldn't fit the dramatic tone of the episode. They also added that scene of thorfinn walking up the mountain. Pater's monlogue was also never part of the manga (but i like it). They also removed some lines in the manga which reveals Ketil missing Arnheid, and the guests complain why they had to work from now on. Thorgil's departure was also not explained. In the manga it was said he left the farm and was never seen again. Over-all despite all these changes and additional scenes, I love the episode. Truely peakland saga.

Such a great detail the fact that they are looking into the west and the free birds flying also into the west, to the sunset, to where Vinland (America) is. Vinland Saga is a hopeful and one in a lifetime story. I am so happy and grateful that the writer/creator did this.

"Carve it into your flesh Let your pain and suffering leave a mark on you, learn from it, live by it. "Carve it into the land" Don't stop being better person on your own, spread it, make an impact on people around you. "Carve it into the sea" Explore vast distances, discover and learn new things. "Carve it into your spoils, carve it into your enemies" Make sure people who are against you get that impact as well. Make sure your voice is heard and that they remember it. "Carve what you feel into me" For those who root for you, make sure they understand your passion, your desire to be a good person" "Carve that encounter into me" Never lose hope, always know that there is a bright side to everything. Always know there is good in people. This line was the intro for the first episode. After experiencing all of these trials and tribulations, it all makes sense now.

People can easily forget that all of this farm stuff was just because Canute needed money and food for his grand plans, and his only other options were disbanding the large force stationed in England, or raising taxes everywhere, and he didn't want to do either. All this has done was get Canute to see if he could do one of the other options, and now that he has, he can use those extra men and funds for his war effort to take over more of the North Sea and bring more people under his rule. This isn't too much of a happy ending, he still has his vision and it's still going forward. People will suffer and die, unjustly or not, all over the place. He's not stopping, he just didn't take the farm, and might consider small logistical changes here and there out of respect for a man who he believes shares his worldview. Canute is still the same person with the same goal and ambition, he wasn't really turned, or shown the light, or saved or anything of the sort. Thorfinn knows he cant morally grandstand people as if he knows what's objectively right and wrong, and Canute still wants to change the world.

I feel like the guy making subtitles might have slightly modified the dialogue with his own view of the situation, for example Thorfinn doesn't say "I can't criticize your CRAZY ideas", the crazy thing isn't really there in the original dialogue. Or when Thorfinn says "I've wasted my time" which sounds more aggressive than the actual meaning "and it proved to be useless". This doesn't change the quality of the episode or dialogue, I just wanted to clear that out since I've seen many people pointing out the incoherence of the phrase "I won't criticize your crazy ideas"

It's not so much that Thorfinn is abandoning people in similar situations, but more so that he's just doing what he can to the best of his abilities. He's just one man. There are people who suffer greatly on the other side of the world from where i am, and i don't feel like i'm abandoning them, despite the fact that i wish i could help. It's simply too big a task for me to just take on.

Yes, I'd just like to know what'll happen when the native Americans disagree with large scale immigration from Europe and its refugees. They will opt to pursue the implementation of their disagreement via certain measures. And Thorfinn also can't say "no" to further immigration, because these people are fleeing war and violence, and him saying "no" is in essence abandoning his entire project. I don't know, the pathos of rising string orchestras and grand ocean vistas didn't completely convince me that there is a future where there isn't fundamental non-resolvable conflict.

Thorfinn struck directly at Canute's philosophical foundation. With his words as well as with his own existence. Canute's fight was with God. Blaming God for building this unforgiving world for humans to live in. He believed that humans had to be vicious to wage war against that. Thorfinn showed that there is another more difficult way, and who is willing to take that path. Canute now sees himself and Thorfinn facing the same battle against God, but taking different paths. Canute prolly would've achieved reshaping the world into the Paradis he envisions, but at small human cost. Thorfinn wants to build a small Paradise. Which is why Canute changed his plans.
