The chosen song is "Fade to Black" by Metallica, from the iconic album "Ride the Lightning.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Join us as both Mika and Oliver, our pop singer and co-host, respectively, delve into the emotional depths of "Fade to Black." In this reaction, they'll reflect on how music can be a powerful tool for expressing emotions and, at the same time, remind us that we're not alone in our darkest moments. It serves as a reminder that we should be understanding, willing to talk, and offer support to those struggling with suicidal thoughts.
"Fade to Black" is a song that has touched the hearts of many who have faced dark moments in their lives. The music by Metallica in this song becomes a powerful metaphor for expressing the feeling of isolation and loneliness that those battling suicidal thoughts often experience.
The song takes us on an emotional journey from melancholy to anguish, and Mika and Oliver will explore how the music and lyrics convey the complex range of emotions surrounding this sensitive yet essential issue.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fade To Black - Metallica (Lyrics)
Life, it seems, will fade away
Drifting further, every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters, no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
Things not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly loss, this can't be real
I cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness, taking dawn
I was me, but now he's gone
No one but me
Can save myself
But it's too late
Now I can't think
Think why I should even try
Yesterday seems as though
It never existed
Death greets me warm
Now I will just say goodbye
Bye…

Hello friends! 😊 This reaction was very special; Mika deeply connected with the song and led us to discuss a reality that many of us go through at some point in life. 'Fade to Black' is seen by us as a message of hope. It's sad that current music often doesn't address these issues, while many artists or bands in the past did. Thank you very much for the support you provide us in every video. 🙏 Take good care of yourselves! 🤗🎶

This song has given countless people support, including me, over the years. You realise that you are not alone. In recent years there have been calls to get this song cancelled because of the subject matter. The right to express yourself, without censure, is the cornerstone of any free society and must never be surrendered. If you close down the conversation, you isolate the folk that have something to say. Metal bands always have things to say!................and will continue to do so..........

I couldn't agree more, Some people say songs about suicide cause suicide but this song kept me from pulling the trigger many years ago and I have been a life long fan ever since.

For a complete and young thrash metal band, which has just entered their stage and released their very first album just a year ago (1983) to release something like THAT in 1984 is something that blows my mind yet still. It was so against the expectations, so against the mainstream! It is OK you are emotional about this, you should be!!! You are a human being after all. This song is just one of the best Metal ballads ever written, so glad you discovered it now. From the first listen it is not opening to its entire depth, just listen to it like 4-5 times more, then you will feel it to the end. Great reaction, guys! Cheers!

I was 14 when this album came out and going through some very dark times, this song saved me. Every word in the lyrics was what I was feeling but the final solo was so inspiring, so uplifting so impactful that it showed me that there was a little light within the darkness and there was hope... I'm 53 now and have had battled depression all my life yet this song is my life line...

There is a catharsis that comes from giving words to the feelings of suicide. It allows those feelings to be dealt with. I have a tattoo that symbolizes this song. It helped me to stay on this earth when i was seriously planning it. Music changes lives

Mam 45 lat. 10 lat temu straciłem swojego ojca. Odebrał sobie życie. Bardzo mi Go brakuje. Słuchając Ride the Lightning zawsze omijam tą piosenkę. Słucham jej dwa razy do roku. W dniu Jego urodzin i w dniu śmierci.

It is a song with a very strong message and, I understand that for those who have seen someone close to them die for this reason, it will also impact them more. Likewise, it is a song that can give you strength to continue and move forward, despite any difficulty. Greetings from Bariloche, Argentina!

I'm glad to see that people, including today's youth are discovering old music. May you be inspired. Personally, I write music and poetry that reflects all kinds of emotions. I'm not the only one doing this. I wish to hear more authentic material that goes mainstream in the near future.

You're so right about this song being company to someone. I would say it saved my life too, I have been in some dark mental places in my life, and I heard Fade to Black for the first time when I was in such a place during my early teens. The lyric "I was me but now he's gone" hit me so hard. It described exactly how I felt then, not like me, but like an empty shell of a human. It was the first time I felt completely understood. It showed me I wasn't alone. And the end solo was such an emotional release at that point, it made me break down crying which really felt like a weight taken off me. Nowadays I'm generally doing much better, thankfully. But this song will always mean so much to me. It's so powerful and I'm so thankful it exists. And when I saw it live, about 12 years after first hearing it, I actually cried tears of joy. Just from realizing what the song got me through I think. Anyway, sorry for the long story! I just wanted to say I really appreciate your reaction to this and the thoughts you shared about it. And for being vulnerable in showing your emotions, it's powerful! Thank you!

Saludos hermano!
