it was so frustrating to hear her claim to have no debt then to discover she doesn't consider a hefty mortgage and a brand new car lease, nor her fiancee's car payments, to be debt.. then she didn't seem to really be focused on the actual amounts, which i'm guessing are huge. I'd be willing to bet her "non-debt" car loans / leases are for expensive cars. Given their income I even think her mortgage was super high- in a state where net income is reduced due to state and city income taxes. Has she ever listened to this program before? how can she not think of those things as debt? I wanted to pull my hair out on that one.

Her attitude towards debt is exactly what is wrong with this country. If she has kids I bet you they think the same way that she does. They don't know the definition and the true weight of debt, so they will also be in harm's way. It's really not something to just laugh off. And then everyone gets all upset and blames other things when THEY are broke. No, it's not capitalisms fault, it's not your employer paying you too little, it is largely YOUR fault for not being careful and competent in YOUR life.

People have to start realizing that engaged is not married. The sixth commandment (You shall not commit adultery) is a serious problem. It is frightening how flippantly people dismiss God's Law. Getting smart with money won't solve that problem.

I always talk about how women can't be getting serious with men just because they're cute. Financial literacy, and stability in a man is important, and a man who can make some good life decisions.

I think she called the wrong show, or has zero clue who Dave Ramsey is? HOW is a mortgage not debt? A car payment (lease, same thing)? Also a little sus they both make the same exact amount of money per year. Dave is patient, way beyond what he should be. He needs to be firmer with people like this. She was a complete dunce. Clearly has no idea what the baby steps are, or she's just decided her way is better, but then why call?

I'm happily married & I recently bought a new house! I put it in my name only! I'm paying for it all by myself! My husband has a son by his deceased wife! He received his inheritance after her death & my house is not going to be another part of his inheritance! I have a son & he will inheritance this house after I go to meet my maker! We must look out for those we want to protect! Our children are grown! My son still looks after me & his stepfather! My husband son is married & we don't hear from him much since he received all of his inheritance!!!
