Netero was a free spirit looking for adventure and challange (just like ging and pariston). Pariston was chosen because he would never become the yes man and would provide netero a bunch of fun. The others admired the old man a lot, but could not fully understand him.

Pariston had his men attack he and Ging in a fake revolt so that Pariston could learn Ging’s Nen abilities. Pariston sacrificed men to do it since Ging dispatched them with ridiculous ease. Probably the only person that is a match for Pariston is Ging. However Ging has his own agenda.....

I only say this because I believe kite didn’t get the chance to show the full extent of his abilities as a Nen user vs. neferpitou, and his nen master was Ging who’s a monster as far as we know. There’s also Kurapikas master. We really don’t know much about him. Killua and Gons masters Bisky and Wing. I just don’t think there’s too much to extrapolate between the master and students other than levels of nen use and personality. To me owning the chimera ants was only a bluff card. Yes he actually had it but it was a bluff if he would actually use it. It is one thing to have a trump card and a complete other thing to have the end game button. And if what you say is correct Pariston does not want the game to end. So the ants were primarily leverage. Now unless this was the final game then, no Pariston would not unleash the ants.

If he were to unleash them, I think it would be in a situation where he's cornered and about to lose outright. The reason I knew Pariston was powerful was when I noticed they are setting him up to be Ging’s rival for the DC ark. We already know how crazy strong Ging must be. He is the father of the MC and if you know anything about anime that alone makes him OP. My best guess is Ging is either the 5th person out of the top 5 nen users or Netero straight up lied. I know it doesn't make sense but think about it in the way how those 2 characters act. Netero probably lied that he is a top 5 nen user so that it gets everyone's attention and annoys Ging (I can totally see Netero doing this). Also it's important to point out it was never revealed how Razor was apprehended by Ging. I think it is also another misdirect. It's completely and absolutely possible that ging just talked it out with razor because if we look back at his (limited) track record that's we know of, he doesn't seem to be a person to get physical or likes conflict. It's very likely that Ging sought Razor out for his unique skills that were needed for the game. as for the top 5 - one that should automatically be on the list would be Beyond. Especially if you look at his design and theme. Whereas his father had an ability to represent ''the goddess of mercy'' he on the other hand is dressed like ''Guan Yu'' (the god of war) and seems to be in his prime with no clear motivations and outmanoeuvring zodiac being a non-issue. To top it off ging and Pariston being his underlings which should already be terrifying. (I know that those 2 has their own things going on as well but it's fascinating) The other would be Botabai (Dragon) from the Zodiac since he was said to be the closest in age and also ability-wise to the late chairman. (probably top 4 or 5)

You said it wasn’t reveled how Razor was apprehended and that’s true but if you go back and watch the way they interact with eachother Razor treated Ging as his superior. I've always enjoyed pariston because he reminds me of that great type of villain like an aizen before he became power-hungry smart powerful very unique keeps it to himself but he also knows how to really manipulate the situation I just I wish there was more on Paris then because it's just like you can do a lot with Pariston Also Paris Tennessee is somebody who enjoys people he can't manipulate that's why he like Metro that's why he somewhat likes Jean because he can't aggravate them that quickly with his thing so he likes to play with them

pariston in his true nature is very "terrifying" from lack of knowledge on him on top of the fact he's so nonchalant. BUT i truly believe ging is a hard kryptonite for him per se, because ging to me seems to be naturally above his level with the same carefree attitude on the outside. i think this may terrify pariston deep down, but he's developed his persona to try and counter that fear and seem like something he really isn't to almost everybody else. also netero only picked him as vice for the fact he couldn't stand him and was like an opposite of sorts attitude wise, but as far as feats/praise go, ging is far beyond any other zodiac as far as we know

I think people don't necessarily see him as 'good' or 'bad'. Just a man so principled he was a to experience, for a period of time, many different peaks with regard to what a man could be.

look i dont like saying any character is a "bad person" in hxh. Thats why i love this anime. Every character in the series is trying to do what they think is good, and every character goes about it the bad way. You can argue about every character being both good and bad at the same time

Leorio being paristons rival doesn't fit into the story in anyway and is kind of dumb Leorio just wants to live a normal life and become a doctor he doesn't give a frick about politics or fighting other hunters why would leorio suddenly be invested in being parist9ns rival out of the blue no hints no foreshadowing nothing that's a very forced way to bring a character back into a story

I do think ging can handle Pariston easily though. In the manga, ging wasn't intimidated at all at Pariston that he even teases him being weak during the recruitment of the expedition of beyond and that makes pariston angry at ging. It's not like Pariston doesn't have a goal or anything, it's just that he is playing a different game than his opponent. It was mentioned in the manga that Pariston's definition about winning is being able to make his opponent angry at him, if he manages to make his opponent angry at him then that is a win for him, that is why he is fond of netero since he is the only person who doesn't get angry at him making his game more interesting. If his definition of winning is having the people angry at him then it is pretty obvious that his definition of losing is him getting irritated at his opponent. Netero didn't manage to do that, and now that netero is dead leaving the game they are playing as tie ( Since both of then didn't get irritated at each other) that is why he quit cause it's not fun anymore. That's where ging comes in, I think the reason Pariston was the vice instead of ging is obviously because ging didn't care about the position leaving Pariston the only candidate that netero can't handle ( The evidence to that is that only ging:Boar and Pariston:Rat are the only zodiacs who didn't change their identity that is related to their respective signs). The fact that these two are the only individuals in the zodiac that netero can't handle makes ging and Pariston tie at least in standings. The only difference to them is that ging know how to play with Pariston's game since he is always in the spotlight because of his status as vice-president and Pariston don't know ging at all since he is busy with his friends finding ruins (too busy that he left his fucking son just to satisfy his hobby). Ging already know Pariston's definition of winning which is why in the manga ging intentionally hit Pariston in his forte which is to make Pariston irritated, which is a success. In the manga at least, the only person who made Pariston lost at his game is ging.

@@everdream4200 I don't quite remember what chapter in the manga since it's been long since I have been rereading the hunter x hunter manga, but you can also see it in the anime, during the first episode of the election arc in the beginning part of the episode the zodiacs was introduced, it was said there that they have changed their personalities by the chairman's order but there are exceptions which is ging and Pariston.

There’s a power in this book I’m reading that I think is something like Pariston may have. At any point in time they’re able to create a branch reality that allows them to test out anything they want. If they like the results they can stay in that reality, if they don’t they can simply switch back. In the book, the guy uses it (along with another persons power) to read out percentages of success and failures (for anything) and can use that information to accrue success dependent on how much or how little he manipulates those branching paths. But the point is, if he’s careful, the outcome will always be in his favor. And that’s the point where he and Pariston differ. Pariston would use the ability to put himself at a disadvantage if it meant keeping the odds against a worthy hunt closer to 50/50. It’s basically that marvel show what if except instead of the watcher he can choose to interfere as much or as little as he wants with little to no repercussions. But that’s where Ging is basically a natural counter to that ability, and a perfect rival to Pariston. As no matter what sort of variables he changes up, Gings resolve never wavers below 100% In fact Ging’s Hatsu should be called “me and *this* army”

It's hard to take that statement at face value given that all the zodiacs are exponentially stronger then average hunters(confirmed by hisoka) and all hunters are in turn exponentially stronger then non-nen users. If equal strength is a pre-requisite for relating then none of the zodiacs can relate to other hunters and no nen user could relate to a regular human.

YES! Paris Hilton ain't ready for tomorrow. And I'll subscribe anyway. About Pariston. I understand the fear of him you're trying to convey in this vid and I'm kind of oversimplifying it, but there are just two reasons that he doesn't scare me much at all. I'm going to preface this with the fact that I'm not caught up on the manga. I don't want to put myself in the position where I'm desperately waiting for more all the time. So, there may be some relevant details I'm unaware of. However, spoilers are my not so guilty pleasure. So I know quite a bit more about many manga I haven't read than the average anime watcher. First, as you so thoroughly detailed, he's impossibly unpredictable, but you've also done a great job of displaying that he's very predictable in his unpredictability. Which is always a comforting detail for me with both real people and fictional characters. If I can count on you to always zig when I assume you'll zag, or maybe even zag when I'm convinced you won't (as that's my first expectation) just to screw with me, then I'm forced to remain on my toes at all times. Which, with a character like Pariston himself, means simply watching him while I do my best to look like I'm not watching him. Even imagining my fictional self in the show, I can't imagine a self able to outmaneuver him, but I can imagine a self able to keep my head above water when in contact with him. Second, it should be very obvious to anyone really paying attention that Ging is not a "hero" in any way, shape, or form. I don't think anyone in this show really qualifies as such. Part of what's so great about it is that it deals near exclusively in various hues of gray. However, he has resolved to be an obstacle in Pariston's path, seemingly just because he's decided that his antics could interfere with his own goals. Which is very significant to me, because based on everything I've read, he is the one person in all of existence that Pariston can't handle. The one person in all existence who he can't get dancing on his palm, and rather than that, seems to consistently be a few steps ahead of him. Once again, Ging is obviously not a hero, and I can't remember if the goals he's trying to prevent Pariston from screwing with qualify as something that would be helpful to the populace at large. However, to me, his very existence seems like evidence that Pariston isn't quite the unstoppable monster that Cheadle thinks he is. Of course, he is a monster, but he has a bare minimum one weakness. Minor extra detail. Maybe I read into him too much, but I never want to take any of Netero's words at face value. It is frequently mentioned how similar he and Pariston supposedly are, so I feel that's logical. Also, that's honestly just what my gut tells me. As a result, for me, his statements about his difficulty dealing with Pariston create a boatload of question marks rather than any kind of fear of his potential power. Regardless, why did you have to choose the creepiest possible picture of Meruem? 😬
