Plus the “opera” guy is wearing a microphone, real operatically trained singers don’t sing with mics they just project
@mb-1764 жыл бұрын
While this is true, if you're using a back track instead of an actual orchestra or are in an acoustic space not meant for operatic voices you'll probably have to wear a mic even if you're a trained opera singer, because the voice can't project well under those circumstances.
@SabiLewSounds4 жыл бұрын
MB that is not quite right, most mics can't handle the projection of a trained opera voice. They would not use a headset kind of mic, they would use the same mic the flute player or the piano would use or a hand held mic that can be pulled away on the louder parts so as to not cause clipping. The fact that the mic is in his face and his tone and vibrato is crap shows he is not projecting well at all.
@mb-1764 жыл бұрын
@@SabiLewSounds oh yeah, this guy specifically is most definetely not an opera singer. I was talking in more general terms.

While it's obvious he is not a properly trained opera singer, he would need a mic because there was no other way to catch the sound for the recording. But definetly not that mic.

Fun fact - I went to an X factor audition recording and they actually make the audience do different applause and screaming at different points so they can fill them in. You’re also not allowed to speak during recording so anyone who is speaking is clearly planted. They also do some auditions without the audience or ask them to come back again to do things differently Because it’s better for tv. And the judges facial expressions won’t always respond to the person they’re showing.

I did some digging on the second act and found out that the show screwed him over. He's actually a very accomplished pianist and very good at playing, but the second part with the pop music is dubbed in. He's not actually playing that badly. Here's the kicker: he refused to sign their ridiculous contract that gives them full rights to his work, so they needed a reason to kick him off without people getting suspicious. I know its cliche at this point but please like this so twoset might see this! It'd be an InTerEsting thing for them to see 😅

Actually, the audience aren’t hired actors. Someone that once bought a ticket to the show once told me that all the reactions are fake. Before the actual performance starts, there would a director that tells people to laugh, cringe, cheer, boo, and etc. The editors just fill in these reactions so they bring the mood up. I bet the second guy actually was a singer and auditioned with singing but the director just told him, “strip while singing so more pervs can watch our show and allow our show to have more diversity instead of having all 10 years old girls singing pop” (probably some money to buy his dignity too) I guess it kinda worked?

You can simulate stereo but you can't create it, especially if you can hear the bass part of the piano in one side and the high part in another. Can't tell for sure but it really sounds like the mic is different. Either that or they heavily edited to make the first one sound way better than the second one on purpose

The "opera" singer was a musical theater voice, very light, very little resonance. That's how he's able to switch to his falsetto so easily, because the real voice is undeveloped. And he's singing classical crossover, not opera, although his falsetto performance was a soprano aria from Romeo and Juliette by Gounod. He obviously uses that voice more, as it was stronger than his normal male voice, but did you hear his attempted high C at the end? Not good.... btw, I laughed at everything you said, especially the comment about the good singers not going on this show...that is SO true!

It was quite pitchy in general (even the belted high notes at the end) but yeah, the chest voice like, really bad. Not only pitchy but terrible tone and resonance, vibrato sounded forced and yeah, definitely not a real opera singer 😂
@jakemuffett83474 жыл бұрын
Yeah i mean it wasn't really very good singing in general from a professional perspective. He starting singing in Italian with quite a heavy English accent, very poor. With shows like this it's ultimately impossible to tell how able these singers would be in a real opera because it's all amplified with microphones etc. The key difference between operatic singing and basically any other style of singing is that opera singers don't use microphones. This is also not something one can just do as learning to sing over an orchestra requires a lot of training and practice. It's also why opera singers sound the way that they do because the only way you can be heard over an orchestras is by singing in a very specific way. To sum up it's not really worth comparing this guy to an opera singer because he clearly isn't one. Thanks Elise, good comment.

I've had an "it's opera, it's opera, it's opera" as I grab someone's arm, moment once. I went to a ballet that was billed as being a nod to Stravinsky, but the ballet director just did Stravinsky pieces that weren't strictly ballet pieces and the ballet itself was modern. We had seats 7 rows back from the orchestra and it was my birthday. Apart from freaking out, I also giggled and clapped my hands a lot. Fantastic show.

Emmanuel Voss is actually talented please read this which explains what happened. It was commented on the original video by world of cubing. "After he stops playing the beethoven, it's not his playing anymore. Seriously. As soon as the backing track starts, his right hand is on the piano, presumably playing that high melody, but the piano isn't even heard. And I know Emmanuel well in real life, the audio they put in makes him sound nervous and shaky, but he doesn't get nervous, as arguably one of the best concert pianists alive. It became most obvious at like 1:00 into the video, where there's an overhead shot of him at the piano. And it's clear he's not playing what's being heard. His left hand is doing big jumps and that's not heard at all in the music at all. The easiest way to notice is that they show him playing the Queen song for about 12 seconds total. There's more time dedicated to reactions from the judges, audience, and ant and Dec than the actual performance which confirms it for me. If you look him up, he is one of the most well-renowned concert pianists alive today, he could play that piece with his eyes closed if he wanted to. But he refused to sign Simon's contract. Search it up if you don't know what I'm talking about, but essentially it gives Simon the rights to your soul in terms of your career if you win the show. So because he refused to sign it, they edited it poorly, dubbed in terrible audio and made it look like a trainwreck, so they could easily get him out of the show without too many questions. Of course, they couldn't dub the audio for the live performance to the audience, which is why as he's leaving the stage at the end, the crowd is cheering for him, and Ant and Dec atually disagree with Simon's harsh judgement, because they heard the real performance."
