Just to be clear, as there was some confusion in this video and another (by BrightWerksGaming), the "give it back" was referring to my commander, rather than the wind turbines. I had accidentally had my commander selected when I shared the winds over! Otherwise, this was the first time we tried this strategy after testing out the timing once vs bots. A lot of things we could have done to improve it, for sure!

Players really gotta learn not to tilt. Kehvin rage quitting that game, meant that he lost skill rating, whilst his team went on to win and gained in rating. Sometimes you get hit, but he was far from out. Part of being a good player is knowing how to take a hit and bounce back. How to be a team player. I'd love to see a "curb your enthusiasm meme" style side series, or even a single video montage of "gg" and "It's over" early resign moments that turned out to be premature. For educational purposes. '-'

I've never played the game, but I've watched a bunch of it, and had a similar idea a few weeks ago; That of one commander not even building a lab and assisting the other instead. My idea went slightly differently, in that the assisting commander would literally assist construction - commanders have like 300 build power don't they? Reasoning is simple - each player starts with 1k metal. Ergo, two players sharing would leave 2k metal at their disposal from the very start - limitation is energy and build power. Commander has a bunch of build power, and energy can simply be built then reclaimed later for its metal. Thus, an assisted t2 rush should be incredibly quick. So, in situations where you have two eco players (for example, straits) this seems like it should be the superior strategy. A few other thoughts that have crossed my mind; More usage of the eco sharing slider, specifically having each player drop it really low so that you're working under a shared economy. (communication required) The boon of this idea is that the 'ecoing player' would passively benefit the 'fighting player' via eco, and vice versa when the 'fighting player' overflows reclaim. Energy flooding via eco slider; Once finishing the AFUS, drop the energy eco slider to zero. I haven't played the game, but the way I understand it, it will 'overflow' all energy made to other players if possible if you do this. A sudden +3k energy income for other players would inevitably fill their bars to capacity, and once they're full, you'd net the remainder for yourself. I'm not sure how useful this is, but it seems like it could be very useful for the frontline players to have 'infinite energy.' (rezbots free to mass-rez enemy units comes to mind) It'd be a 'team-oriented' strategy, and cut into your ecoing plans. Not sure whether that is worth it or not, but I'd want to try it sometime. Just gotta get around to launching the game.

8v8 is the most common game format, but idt it's the best spectator format. Outback octagon works cause FFA is a much more forgiving format, the field gets whittled down throughout the cast. Would be interested to see you try to cast some BAR 1v1s or 4v4s where it's much easier to keep tabs on the primary action.

Really neat strategy, but I think It would be a lot better if they didn't completely join. Just pool resources for the AFUS and transfer windmills and bulk metal back and forth. They were very late getting T2 mexes because red had the APM, but just not the infrastructure to run it. That would be a far more valuable early investment, as I believe the payback on an advanced mex is usually about 100 seconds, where as it's 225 for AFUS+Advanced Converters. It is NOT worth delaying your Amexes to get a faster AFUS. Not even close. I would like to see them overbuild mobile build power, go for one fusion, and then they upgrade mexes. Dump any excess economy into the afus, but build your mexes up. With the apm of 2 players, this should be very practical, and would come online much faster. but yeah, I think this makes a lot of sense. I have always felt that building and reclaiming bot labs makes much less sense than just sharing constructors, and the entire job of the back line has always been, to my mind, to reduce the amount of inefficient economy that gets built, by building efficient economy. The obvious easiest way to do this would be to have one guy in the corner build nothing but AFUS under air and nuke cover, while giving them to his team as they complete, but that's of course not super realistic due to the trust required to get your front line to not attempt to scale at all AND give you resources to speed up construction.

I have seen this game here for the first time.. I need to play it! ❤ I had your video recommended to me for whatever reason and the thumbnail caught me. Reminds me a lot of my childgood game Total Annihilation. The factions are Armada and Corex? So they are obviously inspired by TA, great!

If anyone wants to do this, have the macro player re-gift the factory when it's unit time. Then simply assign con turrets to assist. Can still throttle spending by changing the number of turrets assigned, but no need to manually transfer batches of units for the rest of the game.
@bitslammer Жыл бұрын
That makes much more sense.
@ly_0 Жыл бұрын
Would this work? The micro/unit player wouldn't have the resources though. Build power doesn't matter if can't spend the metal/energy to build it.
@Terminarch Жыл бұрын
@@ly_0 The factory's build power wouldn't help without resources. but the turrets draw from the owner's (macro) bank.

i've noticed how many games that has been played and nobody goes the SC opening method with a few scout units. Scouting in this game with 3 T1 fast units, from all 8 players could literally win you the game in 5 minutes like 70% of the time of not more.

Few things as satisfying as watching a devastating carpet bombing run in this game. Always amazes me how people get so far into a match and see no problem with dumping mountains of resources into a bunch of T3 stuff but then don't build any AA to protect their base from instant death.

Air walls are a bit too easy to dismantle, it's probably better to have air response forces. Cause if you have an air wall an opposing player can just walk a couple aa units under it and the air wall will begin to crumble
@bitslammer Жыл бұрын
I've wondered about this as I think it allows 2 players to really focus. One can stay locked onto booming and the other can micro like mad since they can be dedicated 100% to units. Just imagine being 7-8min into the game and seeing a hound or sheldon show up on your doorstep. Not fun. Just like AoE4 this could be that early aggression thing that people never quite recover from.

I think if you want to cast BAR you have to take the StarCraft approach. Often casters come in pairs. Both talk evenly about the game but the “main” guy has control of the screen the audience is watching. The “off” screen guy comments on what is on the screen but also looks around the map to identify other points of interest. You don’t want to miss the action. Then you do the “Formula 1 approach” for tense situations. “2 seconds Ted, we got a massive pawn run by coming in right now” and the main guy does the colour commentary for that, which you would be good at.
@Hazen87 Жыл бұрын
Edit: ahh what am I saying, of course you’ve casted tournaments before in age of empires so you know all about it.

With Wintergaming seeming to bounce between other games, and leaving BAR behind for now, the handful of casters, you might have a open door to viewership
