Absolutely loved this video! It’s eye-opening to realize how certain habits can undermine the respect we seek. As Marcus Aurelius wisely said, "You have power over your mind-not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength." Embracing these Stoic principles and removing these six habits can truly transform our relationships and personal growth. Thanks for sharing such valuable insights!

When we gossip, those present may wonder if we spread rumors about them too. On the positive side, I was sitting with a group of family members when one of my three daughters was gossiping about her brother-in-law, and I stood up for him. My wife looked proud and respectful of me, and it felt really good

What I learn from your video is that Respect is not demanded but earned through integrity, discipline, and self-respect. By eliminating habits like making excuses and being lazy, and by taking responsibility for our actions, we can build the foundation for true respect from others and ourselves. "It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare; it is because we do not dare that they are difficult" Seneca - . When we avoid taking action out of fear of failure, problems grow larger in our minds, and our confidence diminishes. However, once we take the first step and confront challenges head-on, we often realize they aren’t as overwhelming as we imagined. Courage, therefore, not only paves the way forward but also reduces the weight of difficulties. ❤❤❤

This hit way too close to home, especially about making excuses 😅 Used to blame traffic for being late all the time, until someone asked 'Why not leave earlier?' That simple question changed my whole mindset. Now I'm working on taking responsibility instead of finding excuses. Anyone else struggling with breaking these habits? The personal appearance one was eye-opening too - it's wild how much of a difference it makes when you put in that extra effort!

This video touched my heart deeply. It made me question the challenges and hidden purposes in life. Is the pain we experience, the betrayal, the loneliness, all part of a larger plan to refine and strengthen us? I wondered if every challenge I faced was pushing me toward something greater, something that was meant to be. How often do we overlook our potential because we are so focused on the hardships? This made me realize that perhaps I am not lost but being guided-am I being shaped for a higher purpose without even knowing it?

I have no skin in this game. However, I respect people who offer helpful feedback in a constructive, supportive way. If you think you are more real, authentic and sincere than this creator by being harsh and critical of their content style then that speaks volumes about your personal values and ego, more than it does about the content creator's efforts to produce the best quality they currently know how to make.
@StoicQuotes3653 ай бұрын
This video is a powerful reminder that self-respect comes before the respect of others. We can't expect to be taken seriously if we keep undermining our own worth with excuses and laziness. I had to learn that the hard way, and it’s a daily challenge to stay disciplined. Who else is working on these habits?
@stoickingdomoffical3 ай бұрын
It’s a reminder that criticism, when not rooted in empathy, often reveals more about the person delivering it than the one receiving it. You've perfectly captured the essence of respect, not just in content creation, but in life-where the measure of someone's authenticity isn't in tearing others down, but in lifting them up with wisdom and grace. Your words invite us to reflect on how we choose to engage with others, especially in a world where it's easier to criticize than to offer meaningful encouragement. Have you ever experienced a moment where someone’s harsh words revealed more about them than the person they were targeting? How did it shape your view on giving and receiving feedback?
@thomasomalley76193 ай бұрын
Belief in Love and respect is different from not trusting people unless they respect you. Respect through fear based boundaries require one to block access to one’s cowardly insecurities with walls and locks. When no locks and walls exist, no fear of haters would be developed by ignorance.
@stoickingdomoffical3 ай бұрын
When we live in fear, guarding our insecurities with locks and barriers, we never truly experience the freedom of authentic connection or respect. But as you so eloquently put it, when those walls come down, we’re no longer held hostage by the fear of judgment or hate from others. Instead, we gain a deeper understanding, not just of others, but of ourselves. This perspective is a beautiful reminder of the power that comes from embracing vulnerability and living without fear. Do you think there’s a particular moment or experience that causes people to build these walls in the first place, or is it something that develops gradually over time?

@stoickingdomoffical3 ай бұрын
Your insight about relationships without verbal communication reveals such a deep layer of human connection-where silence can speak louder than words, but also where that silence can create invisible walls. You’ve beautifully highlighted how content like this helps people feel seen, reminding us that while our experiences may be deeply personal, they’re also shared by others who feel the same unspoken emotions. Have you ever wondered what impact non-verbal communication can have on a relationship's long-term health, especially when words seem to fail?

I tried to control my emotions but i see people take advantage of my silence but being more like a bully. There's no respect if you're weak infront of bullies i have seen our school principal siding with those bullies and how i was replaced just because she belongs to a rich family. I remember my highschool classmate who was assigned to implement proper skirt length. She threw her weight around, one day i questioned her action and she slapped me but to my horror she was the one crying, throwing her eyeglass and broke it putting the blame on me. I didn't react but the principal believed her. She played victim while i became a sore to that principal's eyes😢I learned that a good liar was more believed because of their family background and status. Now, I don't care about other's opinion and would tell what's on my mind especially now that I too got the money and the prestige. There's the saying, With money you can't go wrong and who got more got the power.
@stoickingdomoffical3 ай бұрын
Your story is a powerful testament to the complexities of navigating a world where status and power can often overshadow truth and integrity. The frustration you experienced-being mistreated and disrespected simply because you refused to bend to those with more influence-resonates deeply. It’s disheartening to see how those who play the victim, armed with wealth or connections, can manipulate situations, while honest voices like yours are silenced. But there’s incredible strength in the journey you’ve described: rising above the unfairness, finding your path to power, and reclaiming your voice. Your refusal to stay silent now is an embodiment of Stoic resilience, showing that true power comes not from the facade others build, but from the inner strength that time and hardship have shaped in you. Now that you’ve gained both the means and the status, do you ever feel the weight of responsibility that comes with it, knowing the power it holds in shaping others' perceptions?

*Respect is not something that can be demanded or manipulated-it is earned through actions, character, and a steadfast commitment to personal growth. If you continue to hold on to destructive habits that cloud your judgment, diminish your integrity, or drain your energy, respect will always remain just out of reach. The Stoics teach us that to live a life worthy of admiration, we must first cleanse ourselves of the habits that undermine our potential: complaining, procrastinating, self-doubt, resentment, arrogance, and dependency on others for validation. When you remove these barriers, you create space for wisdom, strength, and humility to flourish. Only then will respect naturally follow, not just from others, but from yourself. True respect starts with self-mastery.*

I'd respect this episode more if (a) each element was not formulaic - it's not that anything is wrong, it just has no "feel"; (b) it was read with normal cadence, not a monotone - I suspect you have an AI read a written text. Lesson: to gain respect, be real, sincere. Not necessarily perfect.

Speaking about respect and integrity as being essential parts of a respectable person,I would like to make this comment. How about giving the subtitles here their fair share of punctuation marks? The full stops that separate sentences, the commas that gives us a pause, the question marks that challenge us for an answer, and the serial numbers enumerating your nine excellent topics: They have all been torpedoed by your subtitles app, and you have acquiesced with the app’s deficiency. If we humans should have integrity, our written words, which are a part of our personality, also should have some integrity. These subtitles clearly do not have it. This shows total lack of regard for ALL THE SENTENCES conveying the entire message of this otherwise excellent video in the form of subtitles. Yes, “The medium is the message”.

I don't agree so much with the opinions. Mostly, I disagree. Especially on personal appearance. I should not worry that much to impress others and get respect. Be yourself. Superficial people measure you on the surface level all the time. Don't put yourself under pressure. This is horrible. I only agree with a few things.
