I love this and I completely agree about men being more audacious. I remember when I was thinking about changing jobs and a male friend kept recommending jobs to me. I told him that I was not qualified enough for some of them as I only had my undergrad and not masters. He told me that my undergrad combined with 8 years of experience surpasses a masters. He explained that he did not have half of the requirements for jobs he’s had but he still applied and secured the jobs. He is very successful and really good friend so I trusted him on that. From that day forward, I always applied for jobs using his way of thinking and I got the job I really wanted which said it required a masters although I only had my undergrad. I was so thankful for his advice because without that, I would never have even considered applying for the job.

Yes!!! My bold moment this year was having the audacity to threaten to leave after my job had promised me a raise for months but wouldn’t give it to me. They were requesting so much, but no pay?? So one day, I called my boss and told him its either you raise my salary or I quit. He got scared and met up with the big boss and they gave me more than what I wanted. I am so quiet and always smiling that they thought they could walk all over me. My mom and friends would tell me not say anything because of how hard it is to get a job today… people don’t understand that I’m not a "bare minimum" girly😂 I serve a God of abundance. If a job doesn’t see my value, another one will. It’s also all about your faith. I haven’t been the same ever since!

omgosh YES SIS!! Last year I had the audacity to leave my stressful healthcare job and transition into tech through self-study, no background or experience!! I pivoted two times now I'm sitting in my home living the most softest I've ever lived working remotely (no phone ) this is a entry -level role so I'm about to pivot AGAIN.. I have pivoted so many times in life, I just have to do it again, it's challenging but I cant stay stuck I'm too bold.. I always remind myself of my boldness when I'm feeling discouraged.

@katherineyoung88146 ай бұрын
Yes, as a woman, I have recommitted to challenging myself to be more audacious in applying for jobs where I may not have the majority of the requirements. We do often forget that with our experience, we're more than qualified for many positions. In reality, the "rules" are fake and we need to trust ourselves more and live.

I agree with this, especially with asking for what I want part! This is applicable to careers, studies and everyday tasks. The worst that anyone could say is no! Also, I know you have said this before, but you always know more than you think as regardless of the situation everything is transferrable- this is not just audacity but having confidence and knowing the worth of your skills!

And just like you said, for some positions, I keep the mentality of, "I'll learn this other 40% along the way. But for now, I just want them to see this foot that I'm sticking aallll the way in their door." 😂 I definitely appreciate this whole chat. It reinforced/put words to things I've started doing/believing. And also introduced other points that I will reflect on 💕 Thanks, girl! And i just come to youtube this morning to meet this. I recently saw Inventing Anna, a movie that explains being audacious and tenacious in pratical terms. I highly recommend. This may be a dumb question, but how do you back yourself up when you don't have all of the experience? For example, how did you persuade your manager to put you on the project when you didn't necessarily have the tech skills?
@AdamaLorna Жыл бұрын
It’s not a dumb question at all, I’d suggest watching my video on confidence. I talk about leveraging experiences with commonalities and wins from other areas of your life. If you don’t have the tech skills persuade them with evidence of another time you executed a project with limited experience and how you overcame the challenges, acquired the necessary knowledge and delivered. Doesn’t have to be tech related but show character ✨

Great as always. I'm enjoying my promotion with a 20k salary jump, and I met the "60% rule" whilist applying. I'm working on confidence with network events as well! Question for you: How do you connect readiness to have audacity/tenacity to pursue a dream while having a new job? Do you suggest waiting awhile to pursue something on the side, or doing so anonymously to avoid conflict of interest?
@AdamaLorna Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I’m glad you went for it and are reaping the benefits. Depends on the conflict of interest? If we’re talking about executing both to a high standard there will be a trade off. Work out how to integrate the job into the dream process if there not connected. Give yourself some time whilst you adjust to the new job, the more accustomed you become to it and the ways of working, it will become easier to execute the two (Within reason). It’s a big discussion with lots of caveats but I’ll say that for now xx
