It is extremely difficult for us to research the beliefs that we were taught, when we still only have the translations from our youth. We don't speak Hebrew, nor do we have the 'true' translations in our King James Bibles! How are we supposed to know that what we have been taught was wrong? Thank you Brandon for people like you; those willing to share with us the original words, meanings, and context.

First, you did explain properly that the word hell in English is not the best term to use for Sheol, Hades, Gehena, etc. However, Isaiah is speaking of a fallen divine being. As you stated, context, especially through the lense of their eyes, is important. Throughout the Bible, they fully believe in the placement of other divine creatures (misunderstood as angels-transliteration of Greek to English) placed over regions and peoples. This is understood by grasping the concept of the Tower of Babel in Genesis, Deuteronomy 32, Psalm 82, and Psalm 89, to mention a few places where the divine council is mentioned, lambasted for leading nations astray, nations God placed them over due to the Tower of Babel. ----- It is further explained in the NT and especially Revelation as to who this particular divine creature was who fell. The divine creature that held the keys to death that Jesus overcame. Now, Jesus holds the keys.

So, if not angels, who are the other divine beings placed over regions and peoples? Just curious. And who is Lucifer? Brandon seemed to only say who he isn't, but I should listen again. And lastly, who was the snake? I was taught that he was Lucifer...?! Since the Jews study in the original Hebrew, perhaps we should too? (None of this was meant disrespectful. I know texts can come across that way)

Thanks very much, dear Brandon, for this profound and important teaching! The so-called "hell" as a place where unbelievers are mercilessly tortured for all eternity is a medieval pagan, unbiblical, blasphemous concept, which is why no Bible translation faithful to the original text uses this term. There are 3 views on hell that are not heresy. Annihilationism, eternal separation or torment, or indefinite/age abiding purgation. I subscribe to the last one. So for me final judgement isn’t about eternal punishment, but about determining who go into indefinite or age abiding punishment. However I’m not dogmatic on this, the basic premise of my belief is that the Bible itself never says hell is eternal, and that God wants everyone to be saved - 1 Tim 2:4. However, for those who believe it’s eternal, you could argue that God sent going to force people to be believe and be transformed and thus the separation is eternal bc those in hell always reject God. I think whoever the scriptural teachings strongly favors God never giving up on the wicked and or lost.

How does Lazarus and the rich man play into this? It's a story told in the same time frame One in flames and the other in Paradise ? Hell was created for the Devil and his angels and Hell is then thrown in the Lake of Fire after the Judgment while Jesus told the thief "Today you will be with me in Paradise ."' and we spend eternity on the new Earth with the new Jerusalem ?
@humblewatchman1673
@humblewatchman1673 Ай бұрын
Lazarus and the rich man showed us the afterlife before the cross. Ephesians tells us Jesus first descended, and then He ascended and led captivity captive. Paul tells us to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. The cross was the atoning sacrifice that allowed the faithful (Lazarus) to enter into heaven into the presence of God. Believers will rise with physical bodies in the first resurrection, to reign with Christ here on earth. Unbelievers remain in hell until the 2nd resurrection (Rev 20). Then hell will be emptied, judged, and cast into the lake of fire. Then, only those redeemed by Christ will enter into the New earth and heaven - the eternal state….and this understanding of the end goes way back to the first century, way before the Catholic Church first started in the 4th century. Hope this helps.

For someone who supposedly reads the Bible your explanation ms are completely wrong. Let's start at the beginning in Genesis we read that the Serpent or Satan (He who accuses) beguiled our mother Eve and convinced her to disobey God and partake of the so called "fruit" the Bible does not say what it was that Eve partook of or did but the sin was not sleeping with Adam since God had blessed their union and comnanded the to grow, multiply and replenish the earth" God would have not given them this command if He did not want them to do it. The question is why did Satan tempt Eve? God had given Adam and Eve a second command not to eat of the tree of life. If Adam and Eve had eaten the fruit of that tree they would lived eternally, but in their sinful and unredeemed state, forever cut off from the prsence of God and no possibility to ever repent accept the Lord and be saved. They would have lived in a state of misery and anguish knowing that and having a perfect knowledge of their sins and no possibility to be cleansed. That curse would have extende to all mankind effectively damning it in one fell swoop. There is more the passage of Isaiah does refer to Satan who did exactly what Isaiah states he and his followers rebelled and Satan tried to upstage God, he wanted people to worship and follow him instead of God. So he and they were cast down to earth as we read in Revelation ( And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels. And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven). And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. But who was he and his angels (Greek word meaning servants)? Genesis has 2 creation stories In the first story, God creates the heavens and Earth in six days, then fills the space with plants, animals, and humans on the seventh day. In the second story, God creates Adam from dust, then a garden, and then animals and finally Eve the 2 stories relate first the spiritual creation of everything followed by the physical creation. The book of John states that everything created was created by and through the Word, the Lord Jesus Christ. We human being lived and live in our heavenly home until we come to earth. Satan was one of such spirits or as the Bible calls us " Morning stars" but he grew prideful and was cast out of Heaven forever deprived of the opportunity to experience mortality, accept Jesus as his Lord, repent and be saved. Because this opportunity has been denied to him he now strives to lead the posterity of Adam and Eve astray so that all may be miserable and damned like him and subjected eternally to his power instead of the loving care of God. What we call herl and heaven have 2 different meanings the conditions of the spirits of human beings after death, and the conditions resurected human beings will experience after judgement day. Righteous people who have done the will of God both in faith and works will experience the state of peace and joy we call heaven or paradise. The unrighteous will experience a state of sorrow, shame and regret so intense that it will feel like fire. The apostle Paul states that at the resurrection some people will be as glorious and luminous as the sun, others like the moon and other like the light of the stars the differences in glory delendent on their previous faith and righteous deeds. After judgment day the resurrected humans will be assigned one of the many mansions mentioned Jesus. The truly wicked that never repented will be sent to the outer sarknesd where there is sorrow and gnashing of teeth

But the Bible clearly warns us against a place of suffering and gnashing of teeth, a lake of fire and sulfur where the ancient dragon, the beast, the false prophet, their followers and anyone whose name won't be found in God's book of life we'll be sent to. The deceased will in fact be made anew but those without their name in the Book will be sent to the lake of fire with their new bodies and because of that they will never get used to the pain. The lake of fire, is not a “lake”. A better translation would be “pool” of fire, as in a pool inside a crucible. This was a common metaphor all throughout scripture for God’s purging of evil from people. This is actually where purgatory comes from. What John is saying is that those who took the mark and those who don’t accept Christ, are going to be punished by God, in the age of ages. Remember this is a metaphor for punishment not a literal description. This is the case whether you believe it’s eternal or not in both cases it’s non-literal language.

Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. 28Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. 29And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
