Wife bought a 2.0 Diesel version (2020) and its been faultless. Lovely place to be on a drive. She does spend most of the time motorway cruising from East Lancs to West Yorkshire. Peugeot seem to be making some good looking cars. Shame the Puretech has a wet belt. Only thing that puts me off.

The EAT8 gearbox is an Asin box, built by Toyota in Japan, it is the worlds first 8 speed transverse auto box. It is a proper syncro-mesch box it does not have a dual clutch (DST) or dual mass flywheel on the engine. It is mated to Citroens, Peugeots, Toyota, Ford and Lexus cars. It took me ages to find this information Not even the main dealers knew which box it was or they couldnt be botherd to look it up, the clue is on the fluid bottles, search for Asin EAT8 gearbox not the make of your vechicle and auto box.

I have this done to my 508, but I asked them to do this 3 times in a row, with going through the gears in between the oil drains. So 3 liters out, 3 liters in, "drive", 3 liters out, 3 liters in, "drive", 3 liters out, 3 liters in, drain the excess and done.

This is exactly what i do, 3 or 4 times, maybe not as fast as flushing but it gets the job done!

Hi, i was told that some of the PSA automatic gerboxes, after you chnage the oil, you have to do some kind of scan toll thing and enter that oil was changed is it a same for 508 or you don't have to do that anymore. Thanks!

Yer - change the oil have your dinner - do a couple of services and it MIGHT be up to temp !!! 1st job of the day in winter and it might be warm by 2pm !!LOL 🙄👍

Hi, thinking of getting this done after 42k km to a 3008. What type of oil do I require? How many changes are required to clear out the old oil completely , also being told the vehicle needs to sit overnight

If you have the EAT8 gearbox like the one here then full gearbox holds approximately 6.5 L , however only ~3 L will flow out. So if you are doing a static changes like here it is advised to do it 3 times which will replace close to 90% oil oil with the fresh one. It makes sense to drive betweem these changes for a few days - it is a pain though. You can also find some garages which do a dynamic change wherd they pump 10- 12 L of oil through the gearbox in one go.

Some of the dsg gearboxs don't have filters and the Metatronic unit have its own oil and no filter

Hi Baz. Love your videos and your level of detail. I have a Zafira 1.7diesel reg. DU63ASO, 6speed manual , can you tell me where the transmission level plug is ? I've searched high and low with no luck. Cars done 128k miles and it's getting a bit noisy , or does the engine oil do the transmission too ? Engine oil is dexus2.

its a m32 box , if you search online you will find it. they are only rain and refil, people overfill to 3l. if noisy it will need a rebuild

There is no good reason why you cant do with a cold gearbox, just put back what is drained out, the same cold quantity will expand the same amount when it is warmed up to 63 Degreesa C, the diagnostic bit is pointless.

Theres no serviceable filter on Aisin-Warner gearboxes, but they all have a filter mesh screen built into the oil gallery

Hi, Nice video. Question: Do you know which model the transmission was? I want to do the same on mine, but got the info that, in order to replace completely the oil (almost 9l!), you have to repeat the process few times, otherwise you change only the oil in the sump (3l) and not the rest of it, that is still inside the transmission... Yes it makes sense , I have a 2019bpeugeot 508 with the same EAT8 gearbox. It holds approximately 6.5 L in total but only 3 L will flow out at a time. With 3 changes ypu are replacing close to 90 % of oil with fresh one. I recently have done a dynamic change where the garage flushed out amd pumped fresh oil in situ/ in one go. They have used a total of 12 L.

There is a filter. It's inside the gearbox tho so it's not a service item, but there is one.

There is a filter but it is internal. Only time it is replaced if you are repairing the gearbox . Regular oil chncges will keep it relatively clean though

I just recently had to get rid of my focus zetec s because the gearbox/clutch repair was going to be more than the car was worth. The specialist I spoke with said they were doing at least 1 a week on average. The DSG boxes are meant to be better and easier to repair or service.

I'd make sure the engine has been serviced if its been under Arthurs Rhostyllen, ive found some friends cars of mine that have not been getting serviced on service plans there, ive caught them out in a bare faced lie to my face and they apologised. They are obviously not used to qualified time served people coming through the door
