Coach Madden, I'm a high school first baseman and right handed pitcher. It seems that my velocity on the mound at times can be in the upper 70s/low 80s, and as well where it can be in the lower 70s/mid 70s (as so at first base). This past week, I went to a DII baseball camp and the head coach said that I need to really work on arm strength if I want to have a shot to play college ball (either to pitch or play first base). My question to you, is what are good drills/exercises I can do to increase my arm strength?

What type of pitches would be effective for setting up the hitter or even attacking him HIGH in the zone. I rarerly pitch more than 40 trows.I usually attack in-out + adding and subtracting speed with overhand and 3/4 fastballs, 12-6 and 11-5 curves and Split changeup with the odd slider or 2-seamer, knucleball, forkball if they foul everything. I want to start attacking high-low.

I’m at a D2 college called IUP in PA, I plan on walking on next year and i’m pretty confident i can do it, i threw a bullpen for the first time in a while a couple weeks ago and maxed out at 87, last year i was only hitting 83 if i was lucky. I mainly throw a 2 seam because i do get good movement on it because i’m a 3/4 arm slot guy, along with that i throw a slider, curve, and circle change. Any advice on how to keep my velo at the spot it is now and maybe even gain? Any advice would help a lot, thank you in advance!

Ok, I've asked before, so here goes again. I'm 70 years, old/ young whatever, and am the starting pitcher for my team 55+ division. HOW often should I practice throwing/pitching per day or week? I've been doing about 90 per session and most games I pitch 70-130 PC per game for a 3-7 inning, depending on back up position players help. I've pitched as much as 157 for a 9 inning game but next day it was difficult to throw 30-60 feet until later in the game playing 2nd base.

Hi John, i always wondered, do mlb pitchers throw as hard as they can, because i throw usually around 80-90% to get the ball where i want it to be. The faster i try the more inaccurate it gets. Greetz from germany
@donnypenney8882 жыл бұрын
If you throw 100 percent all the time…you’ll never have to worry about varying arm speed(after warming up properly). Vida blue told me that. I wholeheartedly agree. I also believe it promotes gaining the ability to surprise yourself with 110 percent and grips create change in velocity, and arm safety. Having said that that, pitching is all about deception and creating fear in the batters box. Batters used to think I wasn’t right in the head by the end of the game. You gotta have a little bit of crazy in you on the mound, at least it helps

I've always pitched slightly 3/4s but more overhead than sidearm because that's how I was taught, but I noticed when I throw the ball otherwise in fielding I usually have a lower arm angle. I want to try throwing low sidearm and submarine to see if I'd like it better, but I don't know the correct way to do it and no matter how much I watch slow motion submarine pitchers I can't seem to figure out the correct form. Any suggestions?
@Phoenix-ox2jr7 жыл бұрын
BecomeBenified I suggest keeping your higher arm angle. Not because it would be better for you, because submarine/sidearm pitchers are dicks.
@janlabij73027 жыл бұрын
Phoenix thinks sidearmers/submarine pitchers are dicks is because they are too hard for him to hit.
