Throwing eggs and other food at politicians is a long standing tradition in this and many other countries. In France it tends to be flour rather than eggs. Happened to Ed Miliband and John Prescott too. It's fine. The only serious example of political violence in this country for a very long time is when a right winger stabbed the Labour MP, and young mother, Jo Cox to death in the street during the Brexit campaign, shouting "Britain first, death to traitors".

I can comment as I went to (a minor) Public School too. As a kid in Kent in a middle class family I supported the Tories as my family did right up to the coalition but soon changed my mind when I had health problems and had to claim benefit. I found their policies were and are horrendous and benefit the rich while causing suffering to those who are poorest.
