Hi all! Thank you so much for watching my video! I have been living in my tiny house for about 5 months now and absolutely love it. Living tiny has made me so much more aware of the responsibility we have as humans on this planet. I realize that I am very lucky to be able to "park" my home on my parents property for now but would be overjoyed to live off-grid in the future! Ultimate goal! I am passionate about making tiny home living a reality for anyone who sets their mind to it and I have been active in the legislation in Colorado to make tiny home parking more accessible! Thank you for all of the uplifting comments and I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Laura Keeble why is she LUCKY? She didn't win the house. She dreamed and planned. Why does everyone always use the phrase "she/he's so lucky...". No no no it's called daring to step outside the norms of society to work towards a personal dream. Go do it yourself and you'll see how "lucky" she is to have to drive to do something with her life.

She's lucky to have a. someone to loan her the money to buy it in the first place, and b. her parents' property to keep it on. Without those things, which she got through luck, not hard work, she wouldn't have the house. Hence, lucky.

I just think that is the big frustration with tiny houses- yes you can afford to go tiny if you have a relative that can let you live on their property. I don't think it is specific to her, she is just getting the brunt of the frustration right now. But the irritation is that you can't put a tiny house anywhere unless someone has money. Another example of how everything- even living minimally!- requires having money first.

People are against tiny houses because large houses are a status symbol and it is out of the norm to want a tiny house. This is the reason why people should never care about what people think and do what you think is right in your own situation. Tiny houses are great, less clutter and more peace of mind. Plus, it is the same size as an apartment in New York City that costs $3000 a month!

Archer King there's a bigger agenda at play. the elite centrist globalists want all of us slave filth to live in shoeboxes without border walls, conserving energy, scrimping on heating and air conditioning and making only teeny-tiny miniscule eco-footprints on precious planet earth - All the while they preach and dictate to us from their heavily guarded walled mega-mansions and their private jets. You will see more and more of this 'Exciting Lifestyle Choice!' being pushed through the media. Ask yourself why. You will then be awake to the con.

I have no idea what you are talking about with the "elite centrist globalists" wanting everyone expect them to live in tiny houses while they flourish on wealth and size. Maybe what you preach is bullshit or maybe I'm uneducated. I'll do some research. But it's ultimately someone's own decision to live in a tiny house and be happy.

Great job on her part! I wish I would have had the presence of mind to go tiny when I was that young. Instead of falling into that big American dream trap that has me up to eyeballs in debt and working long hours just to pay for it all. I would much rather have had experiences, memories and time with my daughter. But we're making the move now for sure! We've started pairing down, getting the house ready to sell, designing our 5th wheel tiny house and I have already found land to park it!

A lot of haters out there just dismissing this girl's dream of a tiny house. This is an example of someone with a lot of logistics already taken care of, but it seems that she's paying off her own loan for the house which shows more independence than people in the comments here are giving her credit for. Often times, even with upper middle class parents they don't splurge with their kids as they prefer to spend their money on themselves (selfish I suppose, but it is their money). This instills the values of earning their keep even if they have a large cushion to fall back on if things get tough. Anyone familiar with the tiny home community should know that money and stuff doesn't make people happy, experiences and other people make people happy. Tiny homes aren't just for the poor that may only ever be able to afford such a small place for themselves, but can be for the richer people that want to save their money for other things instead of wasting it. The tiny home movement is truly egalitarian because it's great for the young, the old, the poor, the rich, and people of all backgrounds and ethnicities. It shouldn't be upsetting to see a "privileged white girl" get a tiny home on her parents land it should be encouraging. Not everyone can build their own place and not everyone wants to. It can seem like cheating to "buy into the movement", but perhaps that upset "hardcore tiny home builder" should start a business to make these homes for those people instead of complain about it....

David Vershay you have echoed my thoughts. This young lady has not followed the herd she has put thought into her future and had the courage to go against the tide. I don't understand this attitude about so called 'privilege'. She got a loan to buy this house and is paying it off herself. Yes she does have her parents property to live on but obviously looks to her own future. Who your parents are is an accident of birth. You make your own life or not, regardless of circumstance. Perhaps the haters hate her not because she is privileged but because they themselves take the easy path and make excuses as to why they're not successful instead of getting off their backsides to chase opportunity :)

Selfish is harsh depending on the parents - some are just trying to get their kids to learn to take care of themselves first - once you know your kid appreciates and values "stuff" you feel better about helping them out because you know you're not creating a dependency.

Rainbow Thunder Debt free is when you pay every thing with cash instead of taking out a loan or charging something on credit card. But who would have 40k upfront unless one wins jackpot/lottery. Yes very long run, 40 paid off, until then she's 40k in debt.

Rainbow Thunder - She said she had already paid a quarter of the debt off. Hopefully she can send in extra money that goes toward the principal. And make sure it is going toward the principal and not applied as interest. My sister and her husband paid off their home in less than 10 years. A ranch style home - not a tiny house and this was a few years ago. You save so much money if you can pay a home off early. I knew another couple who paid their home off in 7 years. You save thousands of dollars that way.

Liz Steeds I generally do not respond on KZbin, but it seems the society tends to lean towards a negative view on marriage and children. Why does it bother you? Let her live her own life if she desires Marriage and children right out of college then that is her choice, and it actually can work. Not all marriages are failures as much as this world tries so very hard to speak negatively about marriage. I think you should redirect the question back to yourself on why you seem to think someone is “tied” down if they desire a family as that your view.....And her desiring a family does not limit their abilities to see the world.

I think as she's just out of college it's a bold move for her while she focuses on the future she wants for herself. I'm the grandmother type and age now, so I'm only guessing that the negative comments come from those who are younger and possibly envious in some way they may not realize. I love that she has horses she rides ( something I really want a horse & cart) and a few chickens too. She is doing the right thing to get most of her debt paid before moving on, but I'd suggest she also find a bit of land now to pay on as well now depending on her college loan debts with other expenses she has. Women almost always still have a harder time borrowing than any man does because we are often paid less though educated more than our male counterparts. It is changing though so even with her parents help I think she has done well and living on their land for a while seems a good choice. I'm sure they love having her. I currently rent and live with a family with two daughters nearly thirty and one son who's over thirty that just moved out of their home at last. No adult child has helped their mother even by paying a very modest rent at all to help their mother. This is sad because they see their father has dementia and cannot help with money as he did when younger though he still works with serous health issues. I feel certain this daughter in this film who bought this tiny home will be there for her family and her parents when the time may come. It's obvious to me and I applaud her decisions so far in her life.

What people don't realize is that in a lot of places tiny homes can't be legally just parked anywhere. There are a lot of zoning and regulations involved in many cities. This is improving as time passes and one day hopefully I could park say my tiny home on any piece of land I buy where I live. Until then there is nothing wrong (it's legal btw) to park it on someone's piece of land that has a home built on that land already. In the eyes of the law it's like a guest house. The zoning stuff is what is holding back the tiny home movement. We will reach a point of critical mass, it's happening and cities around the country are becoming more accepting of tiny homes.

It's tough getting started after you graduate. This is a smart move for her. She obviously has a great relationship with her parents 🤗She will establish her credit, live fairly cheaply, and it gives her a nice start for her future. Hopefully she can sock away some money. Really nice tiny home. It's comfy and welcoming.

God bless her parents it is good for Parents to leave an inheritance of land to their own children..I realize she plans to move on at some point but who is anyone else to call the girl privileged ....I dare say you are envious and covetous. If I work for something such as land and decide to allow my children to make use of the land who is anyone else to say my children are privileged. This is America....there is opportunity for EVERYONE here...if you are willing to WORK! God bless this young lady.

Absolutely. There are so many young adults back home in New Zealand (and I am sure it's no different in many other cities) who have completely given up the idea that they can ever own their own home. I truly feel like the tiny house movement gives people a new option to consider.
@spiralpython1989

Steve181 that depends a whole lot on your country or region. In my state in Australia a mobile tiny house is classed as a caravan and can be installed on an otherwise undeveloped piece of land except in a town or city's central area, subject to the acceptance of the land's owner. And I lived that way for some years while saving up and then owner building my small permanent home. The presence of the mobile home on my land gave me the right to live onsite without needing to get certification of occupancy for the permanent building.

This by far is one of the best tiny homes I've seen. I love the way it's laid out and it is decorated so beautifully. I feel like a lot of tiny house people think in order to be apart of the movement you have to be all natural. What I mean by this is they think everyone should have a composting toilet, be off grid, be vegan, find creative ways to stay clean, etc. I like that she has a regular toilet and her home doesn't look like a bunch of sh*t thrown together. I can say the price tag is a bit much for the square footage she has, but at the same time she is happy with her decision and her monthly expenses are far less than the average person. I love love this video and would like to see more people who aren't so all natural. Lastly, as a random side note I need to know where she got those boots (at 5 min 13 seconds) because they were freaking amazing!
