No tea no shade to the other members of Youngnails because all of you guys are wonderful but Karen has been the only one that gave an in-depth detailed tip on how to pick up the perfect pearl of acrylic on a brush. I feel the urge to move toward acrylic again because the main reason why I moved away from acrylic and more towards gel and polygel was because I couldn’t figure out how to pick up the acrylic properly. Thanks for sharing the knowledge Karen:)

I honestly agree 😅 but they all give their own advices and teach ppl in the way that they know, everyone will take that information in in different ways and whatever works for them! But yes she does give great beginners advice the best to those who don't understand the others information they put out, so I thank you Karen for giving some of your audience the guidance we need and crave in this industry! We don't get many ppl at all that go in such in depths to teach people how to do things correctly and it's absolutely wonderful to finally come across someone who can actually teach us those methods in the ways that we take in information and bring it into our work! Thank you 💙✨

I love the fact that you expressed this so openly. I can’t polish my nails and totally love my nail polish when im finished polishing. I’m tomboyish, have been since I was a little girl but there’s something about doing guy things that make me feel like I’m a strong woman! I also have my soft side that not too many people will ever see. But I love to let my guard down and feel lovely and pretty from head to toe and go on a date night with my husband and so I started trying to do my nails with gel tips or build my nail with forms or the sticker 😅it’s so dainty because you have to be soft and sort of be gentle with the product and with your nails and your electric file. Like you have to have that soft touch. Well, I have to get in touch with my soft touch ha ha but tutorials help me and hopefully I’m getting better and I’m so embarrassed to even say I’m trying but what you said in your comment has really give me confidence. Thank you very much.

@JoLopez-lo9up Just the fact that you’re trying to do your nails will help you in so many ways! Just taking the time to do your nails (or get them done) is therapeutic It makes you look & feel more feminine & every time you look at them you get a positive mental pick me up 😊 I’m sure your husband appreciates you taking the time to do them too lol Good luck on your nail journey & welcome to the addictive world of nails! 😂👏🏽🥳💅🏽❤💸

Yes! This! The minutia is exactly what I needed to learn. You aren't mere instructors, you are educators (btw, this woman is incredibly pleasant to listen to). You can explain the how and the why from every direction, including the how not and why not. I appreciate your thoughtfulness in preparing these videos so even the newest of us can follow along. You are like the ivy league for nail education, but you are offering this for free; I can't get over that!

Wow, this was probably THE BEST explanation/demonstration that I have seen regarding acrylic application EVER! You made it so clear and understandable, from the proper way to load your brush, to how much acrylic powder to pick up and where on the brush it should be done, to acrylic placement and everything in between. You just made it make sense. I will watch again and again until I am able to execute my acrylic application as easily as you explained/demonstrated it. Thank you!

The instructor, I think Karen, is just wonderful. A very pleasant voice, and her pace is calm, not excited or rushed. It is just perfect for teaching and learning, she needs to take over (behind Greg) for videos. She just has all your attention, and its consistent, you dont gotta lean into " what did she say" or pull back back she suddenly yells or screeches. I also loved the examples she gives - "Looks like an orange peel" - I was like, why has no one said that before!! I know everything she was teaching today, and still learned something!! I was not bored and in fact, throughly enjoyed the video. Cannot wait to see more videos from Karen. Thank you for this one. ♡

I love acrylic, but I'm sticking to gel at the moment. I don't think there's a gel option that gets as hard as acrylic - the super hardness is what I like about acrylic specifically - but the monomer smell gives me a migraine in like two seconds. I'll still watch these videos though - I'm going to give acrylic another try come spring, when I can keep all my windows open (and maybe just straight up sit on the balcony as I practice 😅)!

Here's a tip or two u can use. I had the same problem but realized nail art is a nice retirement situation for me to just sit and do nails but was nervous of the smell hurtimg my head, so thankfully I learned these few tips now before that time comes when I decide to stop doin hair and just sit and do nails years from now. 2 things...and trust THEY WORK!!! ...first off, zip lock bags are a must!! Your used towels will smell up the garbage, even with a lid so what i do is keep my used monomer towels in a zip lock in one of those air tight containers you can easily get from a discount store (a good one) and it will now seal in that smell twice as much. I labeled mine as "caution" to remind me to open it slowly or not in my face. literally it sits directly on my table for days sometimes cuz I forget to toss it out due to not being able to smell it. Mind u it's in my bedroom. I suffer from migraines and I DON'T SMELL NOT ONE BIT OF IT 👍🏾 ...until I open it 😂. So that's a start. Second...and this is a must even if u dont do the "zip-lock and/or container" thing.... Fan fan fan. Get a really good winded fan that blows really good strong air and place it BEHIND YOU facing you or next to your left or right side blowing across your face pusing the monomer smell away. Behind u is best. 👍🏾 In addition, u can get one of those white construction masks and place some type of cloth inside (I use a sock 😊 it's thick but breathable) and have it cover your nose and mouth with the mask holding it. Although the mask is optional honestly if I don't wear it the monomer smell still is lightly in my nose but with the mask it doesn't bother me at all during and especially after. Trust u forget ur wearing it and u can sit and do nails as long as u want without a reminder of "POISON!!!" 😂 and trust I know it works...after I unmask myself from a couple of hours of nail play and practice I get up and walk to the end of the house and pow it smacks me in the face saying "I'm still here!" 😂 Although I pre open windows b4 hand the smell still lingers from the fan pushing the smell away from me...but most importantly the area where ur working is BREATHABLE. 😩😩😩 I actually get more work done this way when using acrylic... If not my throat closes up, nose gets runny...just not feeling well in health. Trust me this will help until u can get proper ventilation. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 Let me know if it help. ♥️♥️♥️ Have fun!! I do...💅💅🏾💅🏼💅🏿😊😊😊

I also didnt realize I was overworking my product so easily and will be more mindful in the future to avoid those tiny tiny bubbles 😅. Thank you 💯. Still curious about what to do when product dries on the skin or gets on the cuticle (worst case scenario) of course.

I have a question regarding apex structure for different lengths of nails. Do short nails (under 1.5cm from cuticle to free-edge) need an apex? Would you do an apex for an acrylic overlay?
@youngnailsinc
@youngnailsinc 2 жыл бұрын
You do want to build at least a slight apex/arch to every artificial nail to give it the strength and durability it needs. If you are building shorter nails, they won't need quite so much of an arch, but longer nails will need to be built up to support the extra length.

What if the brush gets too dry as your dabbing it on? Do u dip it again? I think i have stuff that dries too fast for noobs. Im gonna get odorless, i think.. id love ur stuff but its a lil . ... A lot expensive for what i need it for.. i play guitar too so im only occasionally doing short, maybe quickly ruined nails.. i tattoo also. And make jewelry.... messy ink and jump rings get me a lot but if those things didn't factor, id definitely get this stuff because even in videos, despite being new, i can see its superior by far

You don't want to try adding more liquid since the product is already starting to polymerize and the added liquid will not bond to the product, rather it will just flood the nail. We would recommend using a slower set product (such as our Core powders) until you feel comfortable with a faster setting product.

We cannot speak on other products as we do not test them. We use our product protein bond. Protein bond is a non acid primer.. it doesn’t chemically etch the nail like a traditional primer does. Protein stays sticky.. sticks to the natural nail and then sticks the product. Here is a video on Protein Bond & how to use it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYqbfKmMgK-fh6c

Do you guys have this being done on a live hand? I feel like my issue is getting the sidewalls tight and folks have bigger sidewalls than the mannequin. But also thumbs are so naturally wide and idk what to do.
@youngnailsinc

If you are having trouble getting your product to your sidewalls, you may just need to pick up a larger pearl so it flows all the way from side to side. Try working wit Greg's signature brush. It is a size 12 and you can pick up larger pearls with it.

Most companies, like ours, make their products to work best within the same line. They are formulated to work together. We don’t test our products with other brands. Our monomer works best with our powders.

I'm just a diy-er and I can usually only tap my acrylic n2 the cuticle area neatly while it runs on my index n pinky. I'm guessing it's cuz they're the smallest. I'm not sure what size my middle n ring finger nails r but they're close to my thumbs. My thumbs r 15mm n that's also why I taught myself how to sculpt on forms from the get go. My nails aren't abnormally large though... they do fit the size of my hands 😆 🤣 😂 When I was young I played the piano n had grays hands for it but I stopped playing when my grandpa died. In high school my gym teacher was the girls basketball coach. She flunked me cuz I wouldn't play on the team. I could throw the basketball like a baseball. So now that I've got size references outta the way... What r your suggestions for the tap tap tap n run for me?

At times I think it’s a good bead placement application and than it does not look runny and after it settles it runs to sidewalls and kinda bulky where I first set it close to the cuticle but not up against it. And than I hav the issue it me having to force it also. The struggle is REAL

I’ve noticed in the thumb nail how to apply the bead on the don’t when showed press right in middle and looks like a donut I e been doing that and I think because when doing gel Greg gave tips on to kinda pillow it like that so the gel is toward the cuticle but I need to know it’s not the same as acrylic application

No, you do not apply gel and acrylic the same way.

My acrylic kept sticking and my beads were weirdly shaped + I was ‘balooning’ my acrylic, making the sidewalls look HUGE. This has been incredibly helpful!! Thank you YoungNails!!! ❤️❤️❤️

I watched a video yesterday and the tech was scooping the product onto the brush. I mean they were doing it like they were shoveling snow

We typically recommend a size 9 brush, but brush size is just a preference.
