I've eaten this way for the last 3 years because of severe osteo arthritis. At age 70, I'm sure I'd be in a wheelchair by now if I did not change the way I eat. Lost 150 lbs even though I never focused on that. He's right about the fat. You will have fewer cravings and get hungry if you don't get enough. If you get diarrhea, that's how you know if it's too much. Constipated? Then eat more fat. Aside from arthritis, many other health problems just went away. This protocol works!

@@chrisgraham6148 Awesome! Great job! I'm not strict carnivore, but it seemed like within a couple of weeks of lowering all carb's in general and doing specific physical therapy, plus heavy supplementation, my right hip and knee feel SOO much better. @@ZenithBeyond Hello!😁. I mainly fish, meat, eggs and above ground veg and colourful salads. I also eat double strained Greek yoghurt and aged cheeses ( Lactose bothers me). I grow my own herbs and salad leaves as much as is possible and make my own dressings with decent olive oil and red wine vinegar.. I find eating pickled foods in the same gut load as my protein helps my digestion as does fresh lemon juice squeezed on meat or fish. I went Carnivore for 4 months...I felt great but I knew I was missing colourful veg, ie. the reds, yellows, orange and purple. I grow a few organic potatoes in the summer ( glysophate upsets my system) and use the reduced starch trick ie. Cook, cool, refrigerate over night and you can eat potatoes with upto 25% less problems re an insulin spike. And although I try to keep carbs below 20 to 40 g per day, I also eat a large navel orange or a sharp green apple each day. It just helps to keep my system 'right'. We are all unique and you must find what your body reacts well to. Wishing you well in your endeavours. 🥳

I'm already 100% sold on arthritis being manageable through proper nutrition and physical therapy. Now, can cartilage actually grow back and can I avoid surgery? Time will tell, but the majority of the community doesn't believe in that. I'm just gonna manage as long as humanly possible, and not even think about surgery. Just went on a 2hr hike in the Poconos mountains and felt fine. Bizarre!

Women in particular became afraid of animal proteins and fats. I can clearly remember women in the 80's all eating useless rabbit food, low fat yoghurts and wafer thin processed ham thinking it was healthy for them. I went thru hell in my early 30's when my bad diet caught up with me. I developed arthritis, fatty liver disease, hypertension, depression, anxiety, thyroid issues, asthma, the whole lot. I expect that lots of people started to develop these issues around that time, and it's probably a lot worse these days. Look at how cancer and heart disease are rocketing. Thanks Andrew. This is very clear. Two questions I have: 1. Most people adopting a Keto (or similar diet) are likely to lose weight. And weight bearing on the joint is obviously an aggravating factor in OA. But what evidence is there that the improvements to OA aren't just down to the weight loss? I am a 42yr old male, 5'11 and I'm already a healthy weight for my height. But I have OA and joint space narrowing in my right knee and am looking to make improvements to this. 2. Why us alcohol bad for OA? Are all forms of alcohol equally bad? What about some alcohol in moderation? Like red wine?
@shapefixer2 ай бұрын
1) There is no "evidence" that improvement to OA is "just down to weightloss", as for eg in my case I did everything, and the combination worked; but my hip would ache after a day of bad eating (that's not weight) and it also ached when I carried very heavy thangs (that is weight). Losing weight, reducing inflammation, eating healthy food and having better energy are all great improvements generally anyway. 2) Alcohol is bad because it is a poison (you would die after a single tot if you did not have a liver to process it!) that causes an inflammatory reaction. Of course more is worse (like anything) so if you are a drinker (like me) then you monitor how you are feeling and make your own adult decision about whether to drink or not, and when, and what, and how much. So check the alcohol contect of your drinks, and be aware of what else you are drinking (sugars in beer or mixers for example)

@shapefixer5 күн бұрын
The tendinitis can, the bursitis can but it'll need care, the labral tear depends on the extent of the damage (is it a minor terar, or has it pulled off the bone) and the osteoarthritis can, so long as the cartilage is not completely gone. You pretty much have a full house of damage there, but being a good weight provides hope of some degree of reveral if not 100%. You can only try. It will be very important to do the relevant exercises as well, in order to address the muscle imbalances that cause the arthritis and the tendinitis. The labral tear might or might not need surgery in the end, but it's not that drastic (I mean, not like a joint replacement - its just a couple of internal stitches or staples) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKObon58qcqbgdU kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXfUdIiHq7t4f5o Note: the 3 hip exercises I recommend will also help with the tendinitis, particularly if that involves the Iliotibial band (ITB)

I feel tendons are the major issue, pelvic floor issues and problems sitting at times. I have joined a gym, track about 7k steps twice a week, which seems to be the max and that includes 1-2 games of pickleball/week, which is helping me with balance and strength but not sure if or is good for the tear. Make sure you eat a lot of fat, rather than lean protein - its low fat protein that causes your body to burn amino acids (protein) as fuel, which overloads your kidneys trying to get rid of excess uric acid.

I cant say it will dissolve bone spurs, i guess it depends how bad they are, ie once the inflammation is down and new collagen fibres have been deposited in the cartilage, the spurs might not affect you as much

Hi it is fantastic to see you are so enthusiastic about the wonder of life, and living to your fullest potential. Yes yes diet is very important, keto plant based with myself and foods high in sulphur and MSM like dark greens and cruciferous vegs. I think our thoughts and believes about ourselves is very important too ie. positive self caring thoughts as many studies in positive psychology have found our thoughts effect our behavior/how we live/what we choose to eat and how our genes express themselves, more positive thoughts about life and oneself studies have shown increases healthy gene expression, but studies are not perfect good to have many making the same conclusions too. Can you kindly share with me what you think of caffeine and it's effects on cartilage as organic Japanese green tea has many health benefits but has caffeine too and some studies indicate caffeine can wear down cartilage and linked to osteoarthritis, perhaps if one has an overall healthy life style as you said over health emotional to physical inc. a myriad of healthy living practices. Do you use any caffeine?

Unfortunately there is no fixed time as it depends on so many variables - ie how badly damaged is your joint? How quickly do you heal generally? What exercises are you doing (or not doing)? Are you on any other medication that might be interfering with the healing process? What are your stress levels (cortisol hormone)? Are you getting enouigh sleep? etc etc... so there is no "rule" that applies to all. How many weeks is "several"? It took me three months to feel about 75% better, and a year to be 90 to 95%. Some have been quicker, others longer, and some (sorry to say) do not recover as the damage is just too severe. In those cases, a joint replacement is eventually unavoidable (but its a small percentage)

Hello, thank you for advices , I need it. I only want to ask you is maybe buckwheat allowed? Because I heard that it has a lot of benefits for health and good nutritive ingredients. Also you wrote that your first meal is at 2pm, is that mean that you use autofagia, if your second meal is in 8pm? You don't have breakfast?
@shapefixer16 күн бұрын
Autophagy, yes! Its a very powerful, natural process that gives your healing and regrowth a superpower. "Buckweheat" is not wheat, and it's not even a "grain" . rather, its a seed from a "flowering plant" so its not a gluten problem like wheat (so less inflammatory) but it is still high carb.

@shapefixerАй бұрын
Hey Paul, it depends where you are on your journey. To give yourself the best possible chance of recovery you need to try very hard to be super strict, but once you see progress (like after a few months) you can tinker a little. That's what I did. You may notice a temporary pain increase at night after wine, but then you'll know and can decide. A long-term healthy diet definitely has more room for "cheating" (or we'd go crazy)

Thanks so much for this video! You said no fruit, but what about pineapple its supposed to be good to reduce inflammation. Also celery. What about those?
@rockymount23932 ай бұрын
@jaeg6623 The main group of enzymes found in the fruit and stem of a pineapple 🍍, that is promoted to reduce inflammation and osteoarthritis as well as ease digestive problems is called Bromelain. However, a cup of ripe pineapple contains 82 calories and 16 grams of sugar (equivalent to 4 teaspoons). As such, i forgo the pineapple 🍍 and instead take a Bromelain capsule/supplement.

Exactly @rockymount2393 , the bromelain is a natural anti-inflammatory but the rest of the pineapple is way too sugary. @jaeg6623 if you want to try bromelain, get a bromelain supplement that does not contain all that fructose sugar.

Just drop the honey as that is almost 100% sucrose (this is biochemistry - it can't be argued). Lower the amount gradually to lose the "sweet tooth". The other ingredients are fantastic, consider adding a spoon of Apple Cider Vinegar.

I can't answer to your specific case as I haven't seen your xrays and dont know what exactly is "fractured" or how bad it is, but I can answer "generally" that most "fractures" heal without surgery - just think of a broken leg healing by itself, so long as the bone is still in the correct position and is imobilzed for a few weeks; or broken ribs, that grow back together

@shapefixerАй бұрын
Calcium deposits often happen when you are low in VitaminD as it is needed to carry excess Calcium to the bones. If it does not get there, you develop several problems: 1) calcium deposits, 2)osteoporosis, and 3)various other symptoms of too much calcium, like a persistent dry cough. So try to get more sun exposure on your skin, or take a VitD3+K2 supplement, and check out my video on calcium: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZDPeWd6a9N8aZI

Can i do this diet with CKD and controlled type 2 diabetes? I need a knee replacement and i would rather find an alternative.
@shapefixer16 күн бұрын
The most common cause of CKD is diabetes, so it all sounds linked in your case. With this diet you have a very good chance of actually reversing your T2D over time, depending on how long you have been sick and how badly damaged your kidneys, pancreas and liver are from the sugar and insulin. I very low carbohydrate diet is the only possibility for reversing T2D - meds will control it, but never cure it. For you it is definitely worth a try, and I predict that as you go over the next 6 to 12 months, your doctor will begin to prescribe lower doses of drugs and you might eventually be able to get off them altogether. T2D is reversible through diet.

I dont know what "square" sausage is, but if it looks like minced meat or ground beef then its ok, but if its smooth and uniform looking, or a weird pink colour, then no. And dont use vegetable oils at all, they are highly processed - use olive oil, and cook with butter or lard
