Then when I started following your channel, I added a vitamin C serum to my morning routine and it's made such a difference in terms of the anti aging benefits (no acne since menopause 😉). At night, I use same cleanser + Time Revolution First Treatment Essence + Differin + La Roche moisturizer. I let my skin break 3 time a week from Differin. I started this routine on me and my son about 6 weeks ago and it WORKS! My son has acne and his skin is clearing, tone is evening out and the acne scars are fading. We started every 3rd day and now it's every other day. Neither one of us have had the dryness, flaking, redness, etc. from using a retinoid. I had used retinol for years before starting Differin, so my skin was used to Vitamin A. However, my son was brand new and I was concerned. Thankfully, following these instructions have helped us both transition to Differin and get great results. After 4 weeks I added glycolic acid and Vitamin C back to my routine. I have used Serious Skincare Vitamin A, C and Glycolic products for over a decade. So, I was fairly confident that I wouldn't have a reaction, and I didn't. For the nights I use Differin I use Cerave Moisturizing Cleanser & Cerave Moisturizing Cream. I keep it basic and it is working. Thanks for sharing this info because it has helped us a lot - especially our teenage son :)

@@NomfundoV8 Hi! I think it was about 3-4 weeks in I started every other day. My skin got used to it pretty quickly and I didn't have any redness or flaking. My skin felt a little sensitive to the touch when I first increased it, but I really amped up my skin barrier care and I've been fine. I'm still every other day, but mainly because I forget or want to try another active at night instead. I like to alternate Differin and then a glycolic acid or extra nourishing skin barrier products. I hope that's helpful :) Have a great day!

@@sandyfarr8227 People who sell these retinol otc products really overhype them to sell their products.. The it's like comparing a sports car to a moped. They both get you places, one just gets you alot further and alot faster. I would even reccomend people just opt for the tretinoin route, it's 30-40 dollars a month, but worth every penny. differin works on different receptors than tretinoin, designed mostly with acne in mind. Tretinoin is alot more aggressive. Just my opinion on it, but it'll take 6-7 months for either of these to give you a result. May aswell use the one that will give you the best result in my opinion.

This formula also has antioxidants like vitamin e as well as lipid fats, vitamin c, and a retinoid. If your skin isn’t used to vitamin c, retinoid/retinol, or glycolic acid, I strongly suggest that you first start by applying them on top of a moisturizer or in a moisturizer sandwich as the kind doctor suggested. Also, only add one of these into your routine at a time so you can monitor any adverse effects. After a few weeks of zero adverse effects, you can add another one. Hope that helps!

I love adapalene. I haven't had acne for 20 years, but I just started using this product for anti-aging (or more importantly for slowing the signs of aging). After I knew I could easily tolerate Differin, I went on to Retin-A 0.025, then 0.05%, which I will use for 1 year to get my skin to the level I want it to be, and then I will go back to the Differin to maintain the results. I wish I would have started this at least 20 years ago. My skin looks good (because I have consistently used sunsreen for 40 years), but this has bumped my game, and this is SOOOOO affordable.

The key differences between the two are their molecular size and stability. Sodium hyaluronate has a smaller molecular weight than hyaluronic acid, penetrating even deeper than HA can. Great, both my heavy cream and face wash has hyaluronate, I love this cream for my face, it's the one that doesn't cause irritation :( I'm glad I saw this video before starting Adapalene.

Very nicely explained 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Seemed like I’m sitting in a class and listening to your lecture Good info To this day I was under this impression that one can use VITAMIN C in the morning and RETINOL at night but nobody mentioned it’s only for those people whose skin has tolerated the retinol very well What I understand is you mentioned one uses DIFFERIN for 12 weeks consistently using few nights a week and once the skin is used too then we have to add any other treatment like adding VITAMIN C AND one should not use HYALURONIC ACID moisturizer or serum with DIFFERIN For MATURE SKIN what ingredients one should look in moisturizer for morning when using retinol also if a person has pigmentation cheaper options You also mentioned that one should not use any acids like salyclic acid or any other in the beginning otherwise it will cause irritation one should only use gentle cleanser Can one use cleansers like CERAVE that has ceramides in it One has to double cleanse even when we have sunscreen so which oil based cleaner one should use budget friendly or drugstore

Would like to try your sandwich approach. Should anything be added for aging skin? No reaction at all to Neutrogena. Thanks❣ Keep up the great work!

I started Differin at the end of December 2020, I didn't know about this channel and had no access to a derm, so I trusted Differin to give me good advice. They tell you to do it every day and don't stop! "Push through the sensitivity if you can handle it!" My skin was DESTROYED. But that wasn't just Differin's fault. I was doing so many things that were over-stripping my skin. Since discovering this channel, however, I learned how to heal my skin's barrier so I could start using Differin again, and I couldn't be happier! I still can't handle it every day, but on the days my skin feels more sensitive, I skip Differin for a less irritating retinol like Olay Retinol24. Thanks, Maren, for educating us! ❤

How often do you use it? It made my face SUper sensitive and made everything I put on it sting and burn. And what moisturizer are you using now?
@erinmcneal6381
@erinmcneal6381 3 жыл бұрын
@@michelletidler6773 that's exactly how my skin was! I actually had to cut out entirely for a while to let my skin heal and calm down. So I used nothing but CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser and CeraVe PM moisturizer (and sunscreen in the am) for about month until I noticed all the stinging subside. Then I was VERY careful about how I reintroduced it. The CeraVe PM moisturizer is still the one I use most, but I've also used Aveeno Calm & Restore Oat Gel Moisturizer. I will sometimes put straight up Vaseline on my neck and eyes BEFORE I apply Differin. It helps block the retinoid from those sensitive areas. But DON'T use an occlusive like Vaseline OVER a retinoid bc it holds it in and causes it to go deeper and cause irritation. So anyway, now that my skin's barrier is healthier, I use Differin almost every night. I will used a gentler retinoid like Olay Retinol24 when my skin feels sensitive. That's my experience anyway!

I am 32 so I do not have noticeable wrinkles. I did switch to tretinoin recently and it is amazing. Works really well at plumping and brightening. I think it is better than Differin personally. It comes out to be cheaper than Differin since I do not need to use as much and it is stronger.

@@Joannabanana1989 omg I am also 32 😇 I use differin about one year...my skin was in very good state before differin but I take it for prevention...and its cheapest retinol I can get here in my country (europe). On differin I noticed that my skin has smaller pores...and it has more elasticity ..but it is also a bit drier. What do you think it is worth to continue with it or not? Btw I never had acne so I took it just to slow/prevent aging

I honestly do not know if Differin will have anti aging benefits. It makes sense since it is a retinoid. I would use it if you have access to it but if you can get tretinoin, the results are faster and better. I have only been on it about a month but it looks better than when I used Differin.

Thank you for the video! I use that La Roche Posay gentle cleanser with my adapalene routine and I also use the La Roche Posay eczema face cream. It’s thick with niacinamide and ceramides in it, so it’s perfect to use with a retinoid. I really don’t know why people use the Proactiv MD line. I mean, I do understand that people like kits in general, but it’s super expensive for just a cleanser, the adapalene, and a moisturizer!

I was getting crazy sensitivity to Differin, too, then I realized it was mostly due to an already compromised skin barrier. I had no idea that baking soda would DESTROY your skin and I had been adding some to my bath water EVERY bath. So, it is possible that there's something you're doing that's weakening your skin barrier without even realizing it.

My doctor put me on Differin for my acne and she specifically said NOT to put a moisturizer on my face before the Differin because it can prevent the Differin from absorbing properly into the skin. But I have seen multiple sources recommend the "retinoid sandwich" method, so now I'm not sure what is right?!
