For Occy, you just need a name that has an "ock" sound somewhere in it. That opens up the options, and makes for a more clever use of the nickname. Brock Lachlan Rocco Harlock/Havelock Locke Braddoc Enoch

My name is not vintage, but it is rare. Dovalyn pronounced "Dah-vuh-lyn". My mom went to highschool with a Dovalyn and thought it was pretty. I talked to a geneologist and they said is has Gaelic and Latin roots meaning "from the valley", though I don't know how accurate this is. I know of one other (we met on Facebook) and her's was a merge of Doug, Valerie, and Gwendolyn from her parents and grandmother. (All 3 of us are in America.) You’ve been mentioning Vera a lot- in Germany „Verena“ is relatively common. I checked the English statistics site and it is not in the top 100. so maybe this would also be an interesting option for some people. Katie: how about Iris? Occy: how about Okra like the flower? You could do a big reach from caspian to occy. Or maybe just ocean seeing how you are such big surfers? Although I’m not sure if that ties into the wish for a more sophisticated adult name. I came across the name „onda“ (Italian for wave) and got really excited but sadly it’s for girls.

Hi SJ! I absolutely love your new podcast, I’m so glad you decided to do one, and the discourse between you and your sister is so fun. My husband and I have pretty unique taste in names which has been our first struggle. We like soft names for both genders with all kinds of origins, but all of them sort of have an underlying Spanish, bohemian vibe. Our favourite names right now are Odeya, Sola, August, Leighton and Cleo. Our biggest struggle though is that we have lost four pregnancies and given names to all four of those babies, so we’ve already used up the majority of our favourites. I’d like names to have some special meaning for our rainbow, but nothing super obvious for a rainbow baby like iris. My husband isn’t religious so names with god in the meaning are OK but not perfect. I’d love for a name to have sun/sunshine in the meaning somewhere as an honorary name for my grandma, whose maiden name is beausoleil, but my main issue is that if we use Sola as a sibling most names meaning sunshine have “sol” somewhere in it and it becomes too matchy matchy. Please help us find something we can add to our list that could be “the one”. Love your channel! Thanks, Brenna

Name for teacher: Nellie, Felicity, or Josie Davy, Edwin, or Felix 4th baby name: Jane, Evangeline, or Beatrice Brother for Thea: Bennett, Jens , and i really like SJ’s suggestion of Tristan! Name for Occy: Nico, or Oakes Italian name: Stefano, Adriano Emmanuelle: If she wants to completely change the name, maybe Clara-Mae? But Emmanulle is so beautiful, and i really loved SJ’s suggestions of Emmanuelle Grey! (And the nickname Emmie Grey is so sweet)

I just adopted my first cat today (of my own as an adult). He’s hiding under the bed just as expected. His shelter name was Cheddar which is cute but I didn’t think it fit him. I’ve renamed him Knut! It’s a nod to my Norwegian heritage (my grandma), and it can be shorted to Newt which I think is adorable.

For the Lady with the grandma issue, Emmanuelle is a wonderful name and you should totally go for it. But if it is really an issue and you want some ideas how about Elinor, Elnora, or Emmalina (these three just popped into my head). Hope this helps.

My mum s a teacher and she wanted a name that she hadn’t taught before so my sisters name is Freya and my name is Orla and since then she’s taught 2 Freya’s and 1 Orla which is crazy considering my name was so unique when my mum chose it 💕

I’m from Ireland so Orla/Orlaith are very common here! Still a beautiful name 🥰
Emmanuelle is a gorgeous name. Go for it! I think Blake would be a lovely middle name - Emmanuelle Blake.

I think Emmanuelle is a beautiful name 😍 and goes with Noah as well. I think that the mum will come to accept it, you have to go with with the name you love x

to Noah and Emmanuelle’s mum: go with what YOU love! although, grandma might lighten up a bit if you tell her that she can call her Emmy or Elle hahah

1 For Katie: Darcy, Faye, Tallulah for girls; Owen, Phoenix, Cohen for boys 2: For Mommy Bee: Beatrice/Beatrix, Genevieve, Juliet 3: For Rachel: Nolan, Jude, Damien 4: For Issa: Oakley! 5: For Sara: (btw i'm italian) Riccardo, Leonardo, Bruno 6: For Falon : you could maybe go with Emmie/Emmaline? Similar to Emmannuelle but a bit shorter. But i would still go with your choice - your mom had her go at naming her own babies. As a middle name: Emmannuelle Lou! And she could go by Emmie-Lou

For Occy: Cola means wave in Spanish and Ora means shore in Latin, so i was thinking something along the lines of Colien or even just Colin ? seems simple enough since the long Octavius isn’t their style

For Occy: O'Connor could be cute, it has that stylish surname as first name thing. Or something more common like Oscar even cause the strong sounds in it are O and C

So I searched for Sage, the color that was mentioned and I found the color name Reseda, and I really love this name, for some reason, which is also a greyish-green color. The name comes from a plant called "reseda odorata" (botanical) - a reseda. Yes, I´m very into botanical/plant names, lately! :) [ Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reseda_green ]
