The CBP officer tried to twist my words into a confession of wrongdoing. Them: What do you need bandages for? I replied in case I hurt myself. Them: What do you plan on doing that is dangerous? I said, I don't know, maybe fall on the stairs at the train station. Them: Why did you travel there? Me: To get away. Them: What are you trying to get away from? Me: I'm a 24/7 caregiver, and I'm getting away from an 85-year-old abusive elderly woman; believe me, lady, I'd rather spend 24 hours with CBP than spend 2 hours with my 85-year-old mother. Them: your phone has a file here that says What do we do in the shadows? What is that? Me: I downloaded a TV series on Hulu from Hulu to watch while flying on the plane. Them: Why do you have a portable sewing device in your luggage? Me: I bought it for my sister. Them: I thought you said you didn't have family over there. Me: I don't have a sister over there. I bought that sewing machine over there and brought it back to give to my sister.

If you are crossing an international border ALWAYS PULL SIM and MEMORY CARDS and secrete them somewhere on your person.

I just recently encountered this. They treated me like there was something wrong with my sim card, as if it was a crime to have a different sim card in my phone. They asked me why I had a different sim card in my phone. I said I didn't want to pay roaming charges on my U.S. sim card so I got a foreign one. Something needs to be done about CBP attitudes and communication tones unless they actually find evidence of criminality. Suspicion of me just traveling by myself should or using a different sim card should not justify being a dick to me.

I don't agree with everything they are saying on this video, actually you don't have to answer any questions, they only thing they have see is proof that you are an US Citizen or legal resident.
@AJ-io3bq Жыл бұрын
Not true. You do have to answer some questions but they are all contained on the "landing form" airlines give out ahead of time. Beyond that, you are correct.

Indian cbp officer are so rude he deported me back by blaming of having bank cards of somone else, that wa proved are not mine but he didnt let me go in
@wisdomandlove16612 жыл бұрын
you may have to contact dhs hotline and make a report with the officers name if you can retrieve it. reporting to cbp complaint form will not yield any progressive results because the vast majority of those in charge of making the needed decisions are very corrupt and do not regard or conduct any disciplinary action on rogue agents in many cases, so using another agency above them can be starting point

I live in Michigan and most of my state is within the 100 mile radius dose that mean any boarder agent and stop you anytime for any reason and you have to comply????
@AJ-io3bq Жыл бұрын
From everything I've read, it's fuzzy. They can stop you in that "border area" but that's about it. All they can do is ask if you're a US citizen but you don't have to tell them anything. They will hound you and hound you, make you pull over, wait, etc., but in the end, unless they have reasonable suspicion, they cannot do much. There are plenty of videos on YT of people giving CBP the business at the permanent checkpoints on I-5 in CA.

Yes they can do that CBP has lot of authority best not to bring any electronic devices
@hutch35622 жыл бұрын
I never take my personal electronic devices when I travel abroad. When I get to my destination I will pick up a cheap prepaid minutes phone to make calls. If I want to take pics I will use a camera belonging to my friends that live there and then email them to my home system. on the return trip I will give the cheap phone to my friend before we get to the airport. They can use it, sell it, whatever. I then have no devices they can search at the border check.

what happens when you're still in your country (canada), but you're in the usa border inspection area, do the american or canadian laws apply
@AJ-io3bq Жыл бұрын
You're on Canadian soil, so it should be only Canadian law that applies. The US is there for convenience (cheaper to refuse there than ship back) and security (holding you outside the US) issue. Indeed, I suspect it's beneficial to the US Government to operate like this, as then the traveler doesn't have Constitutional protections they may otherwise have by being present in-country. Keep in mind: the US Government rarely does altruistic when it comes to security stuff.

@acluvideos 2 things how does the government even GET your password it's almost impossible to hack a phone that's password locked 2.if on cloud woudnt NSA just wiretap it and send it to CBP the survelliance under trump is at the point of Orwellian even if not even close to on any watch list bonus this is coming from a us citizen
@AJ-io3bq Жыл бұрын
Wrong about getting into a passworded phone. There are ways (see Apple and the San Bernadino shooters event), which is why some say it's easier just to give up the p/w. As for the wiretap, that's why one should encrypt everything put online. Also, using a comm app like Threema and/or mail services and VPN products from Proton. Unlike any US-based tech firm, Proton and Threema are not subject to the CLOUD Act, which requires backdoor access by the Government.
