Thanks for the information, another great video. By the way, here in California the water heater must be secured with straps. I have found that most of the time the p-trap on the unit is so the unit won’t suck air in through it. So on the manufacturer installation instructions it should tell us that both are required. I did not know about the GFCI or insulation on the cold line. You make great videos with tons of useful information. Thank you again.

are you allowed to directly connect pex to a water heater or does your area require 18" metal/braided pipe?

It is not a water heater in the wrong place. It is a wrong water heater in the right place . In warm climate this is the best place for a water with biuld in heat pump

So, what does climate have to do with this?...putting a water heater in the attic is a bad practice. That's 50-80 gallons of hot water above livable space.

Are you a plumber??

@@PPG1967 I am a home owner who knows how to do simple math I pay 30 cents pro kilowatt and can get $750 rebate when buy a water heater with built-in heat pump . Heat pumps on those water heaters do not work in cold climate so there's no reason to leave water heater exposed to ambient temperatures there on contrary in warm climate attic is the most hot place all year around which would give heat pump highest efficiency. A few years back when I installed two such water heaters on my properties savings on electricity pay for heaters just in 3 years
