Although I'm not in your target audience for dark skin, I still love your videos because it's hard to find KZbinrs who truly understand the science of ingredients. Many of them do address ingredients lists, but they're pretty vague and can be confusing - like you said about essential oils vs "fragrance," but people usually just brush off what they don't know. They all just love these products by YTTP, even if they say they're against added fragrances (I myself like the YYTP products as well, but I didn't actually realize that they have added fragrance! For some reason I thought that they were a brand with no added fragrances, and I do get acne so I learned something). It's clear you have a lot of experience with skincare and not just a beauty reviewer. I do have a question though - in the glow oil review, you said they used a lot of fragrance (8 ingredients), yet the product itself doesn't smell that much - I can smell it, but only if I get close and sniff it. Could those ingredients have other purposes, or are they neutralizing a bad fragrance or something? It just seems weird because it doesn't seem that scented - so why are so many fragrances added?

Oh I hope you get to read this. I’m a GP and I have learnt so much from you. I agree about us doctors not being taught about the ingredients that will harm skin especially for brown skin. Can you do videos on how we should use tretinoin if we should at all. Also can you suggest like a skin care routine for dry skin. Like suggest a few different products per step, like from different price ranges. That could be a few videos. Also some videos explaining the science behind the science like hyperpigmentation. I’m a medic so I can follow words like premature puberty etc but lay people might not. Also are you going to launch any products? When Hyram reviewed the Superfood cleanser he contacted YTTP to enquire about the natutal fragrance also. They replied explaining that it is referring to the odours/fragrance that naturally occur in some of the superfood extract ingredients within the product and it wasnt anything additional or synthetic. They apparently also claimed that they are therefore not irritating or sensitising to the skin.

Personally I wouldn't use a product be it skincare or makeup if it has any mention of fragrance/parfum or other scented ingredients as I would rather not run the risk. I saw in the FAQs that they said their natural fragrance is not from essential oils, so from what they said it sounds like it should be okay? "The natural fragrance that you are seeing is our kale oil or yuzu fruit extract. Although a fragrance is present, it is derived from whole-plant and fruit extracts, not essential oils. By taking scent elements from different parts of the plant or fruit, we are able to achieve scents that are natural and please without irritating."

I tried "Youth to the People" when Hyram was all the craze. I tried both the superfood cleanser and the aha power exfoliator. Interestingly, the Superfood Cleanser was very harsh on my skin and left it feeling stripped and tight. On the other hand, the AHA 10% Power Exfoliator worked very well on my skin, and I woke up in the morning with skin that looked visibly brighter/a more even complexion. I loved it so much I bought it twice. However, I now take KZbin videos with a grain of salt, as I was really disappointed when the Superfood Cleanser didn't work, as it was pretty expensive.

Yes, please make a video on alcohols in skincare, especially since most moisturisers use alcohol, and I never know which is good and which is bad. Also, I'm not sure if this is something that applies to make up as it does skincare, but is fragrance and alcohol bad in make up? Most, if not all, Huda Beauty products for example, use an obscene amount of fragrance in their make up, and their setting spray (Resting Boss Face) is literally superglue for make up, but is essentially denatured alcohol. Do these bad ingredients have the same effect in make up as they do skincare?

Per the company: They don’t “add” fragrance to their products. They just don’t put the ingredients through the extra chemical processes to strip them or “unscent” them of their naturally occurring scent. They thought it was best to disclose it as “natural fragrance” on the ingredients list as to be the most transparent and so customers don’t expect it to be “unscented”.

Please can you do videos on Kate Somerville, REN, Omorovicza, and Kiehl’s? Your videos are so helpful and informative! I’ve decided to hold off on making future purchases from brands without consulting your videos first. Thank you for making these educational videos for us, Dr V 🙌🏾

Hi Dr. V, thank you so much for your videos, I look forward to them and learning more. For periorbital hyperpigmentation you mentioned used 3 products, 1) The ordinary's Ascorbic acid + alpha arbutin 2) The odinary's cafeine serum and 3) CeraVe's eye repair cream. The eye repair cream has niacinamide and from previous videos you mentioned to not mix ascorbic acid and niacinamide, so should we still use these products in combination for treating our periorbital hyperpigmentation?
