ive been hearing about this for a bit now, from multiple people, and i find it completely bs, most yters cant afford to just throw 42k a vid to keep the channel up, the ftc guy literally said the saying “like shooting fish in a barrel” where the yters are the fish, getting shot, just messed up is what im getting at, just hope that people make it out okay/this doesnt fully go through or hurt people. i wish yall good luck.

Coppa isn't about kid's content. It's about cookies. About collecting information. If KZbin made it so that videos, or at least videos that are potentially considered "for kids", have ads on them based on the type of content that is in the video, rather than it being reliant on cookies, then this wouldn't be an issue anymore. It might not earn as much money, but honestly, I think it would actually make the ads more effective. Rather than getting the same handful of ads that I always ignore, over and over, I'd get ads based on what I'm obviously interested in, at the time I'm watching the video.

I feel the same way as you, and I have already commented to the ftc. I hope that they will actually listen to the creators on youtube and see that these actions, no matter how good their intention may be, will ultimately harm everyone in the process. I will support you throughout all of this, both here and on twitch. While that by myself I may not be able to do much, I know that if we work together, we will push through and let them see this for what it really is. A BIG FUCKING MISTAKE.

The issue you're going to face you didn't seem to mention is COPPA's changes don't just apply to KZbin. It's all websites that either are accessible or located in America, I don't remember. So Twitch isn't safe, it's just not publically going through concern

I mean, as far as funding goes, thats not really an issue, considering youtubers have a bit of money, although i cant say how much, really... Another thing is that it has appeal to the audience, "KZbin but made by youtubers fucked over by youtube" There are even coding and programming youtubers that could help... It would be a bit difficult to set the algprithims up, but im sure it would be fine... What part of the idea is a bad business model? The amount of people who would be considered co-creators or co-owners? I mean, collaberations on a large scale arent uncommon here

Then you would have to actually build the site which you would have to find people to do that. Then you would need enough investment money to launch the site. You also have to build your site to be different enough from KZbin so you don't get lawsuits. I have no idea how your business model would work so that be different from KZbin's current status. Then you would have to advertise and get the word out and explain to people why they would rather use your site than KZbin. Oh yeah you also have to compete with KZbin. You also have to get advertisers and enough people to actually make the site work. Your profits will be very thin for the first couple years at least and you'll have to find enough people willing to not make money so this business will work

I have watched ur content since right before the start of htm s2, and I’ve enjoyed watching, I saw this like 3 days ago from chadtronic, watched his video on it, his video has slightly more detail of what is “for kids” and after watching that I placed a 3847 word comment, which basically told them that this is way to vague to be just, and that doing this is going to force the majority of the platform to shut down, or continue and lose so much revenue that they won’t be able to pay for anything ever, so thanks for the years of content. I hope it all works out for you and you don’t get fined for 42k per vid. Which if you have roughly 2k vids on ur channel. That’s gonna be roughly 84m. Big yikes dog.
